  • can i use this with a keyboard instead of a guitar?? im a dj and want to incorporate a keyboard into my setup and do some live looping. would this work??

  • Good job man! I have a couple questions; What do you think of the new RC-300? And, what do you think about using Abelton Live with laptop and midi control as compared to using Boss pedals? Obviously using Abelton gives many more options but costs much more for a good set-up. You seem to be doing fine with the RC-50 and no worries about computer crashing during performance. I've been using the RC-20 and I'm ready to upgrade. Decisions, decisions.

  • amazing Jonny.. seen you live twice with Heaton and will see you perform again soon. cheers for takin my pic with heato at ratlinghope. Top man

  • Brilliant

  • Looping at its best.

  • That was fuckin' ace !!!

  • Excellent performance by a superb musician and songwriter.

  • This has been my favourite Youtube tune for three years now. I've even bought a Boss RC50 on the strength of it. PLEASE do an iTunes recording of it - after all, if 350,000 viewers had all given you 99p, that wouldn't be too bad, eh? ;-)

  • @Thumbshifter Hey man, thanks for the good vibes! I'm making a recording of this for iTunes right now for you and everyone else who's asked. Sorry it's taken so long :) Follow me on twitter for updates: JonnyisWright

  • @whoisjonnywright Done. Now you just need an album of stuff and a tour of your own...

  • Wonderful stuff mate - great Tele sound and looping jams :)

  • It's obviously one of the best video ever Oo

  • bass came out of nowhere*

  • @tristansenoc3000 ............. the bass comes from the E and A strings Sherlock Holmes ...

  • Video like from 90-th )))

  • Amazing! I really dig this. Good music is hard to come by nowadays. You give me hope.

  • well done Johnny

    keep it up

  • i've watched this vid so many times and always wondered i who this guy is then all of a sudden it dawned on me. He is part of Paul Heaton's (ex Beautiful South) band. I must 've seen him live about ten times over the last couple of years. Weird!!!

  • The Wadsworth constant does not apply here

  • Nice. That stuff is WAY harder than it looks. Just try it out in a guitar store some time and you'll see how tough getting the timing just right is...heh. Yeah I thought of buying one of those to do some live looping at cafes and open mics.

  • yea excellent !! the best ( normal) use of the RC 50 ive seen yet...some are slight overkill, your is ( giggable) pure magic.

we need more of this Jonny, dead WRIGHT!!

  • Wicked talent man

  • the definition of the one man band

  • this is brilliant. period.

  • I wish this comment box could contain how much I like this. But it cannot.

  • *___*

  • MORE, PLEASE!!! :D

  • I found this guy by accident looking for the loop pedal. This dude is amazing! Finding this song quick!

  • good idea mate

  • Awesome man im on a limited budget any recommendations on what loop pedal i should get?

  • @agerilla KT Tunstall managed just fine with an Akai Headrush - they're good bits of kit. Or look for a secondhand RC2 pedal now that the RC3 is out.

  • silly dislike people...

  • Just amazing !!! :D

  • I LOVE IT!!!! you're my fucking idol!!!

  • oh, clean it up johhny

  • @kilovic55 RHCP - Readymade ;)

  • I hate to say it but this is fkn good - I even like his vocal.

  • Great sound & job, i'm much older than you but this is really wonderful to hear what you have done! just got a Rc20XL ,you are great!

  • AMAZING! This guy knows what he does!

  • Pre-recorded tracks for the LIVE looping loss.

  • @neanderpaul There aren't any prerecorded tracks here .. :\

  • After trawling YouTube for examples of looping as I want to get one myself and was looking to see which was the best, I came across this.

This is hands-down the best I've seen by miles...

    Seriously, by miles...

I think that it helps that it is a great song as well. I like the line about Carol V...

    Who is Jonny Wright?

I think that everyone will know soon enough with tracks like this...!

Keep it up. You at least have another fan here...

    Charlie C...

  • @m0nkeystu You should check out a couple of sweet vids I've found of Artists using this pedal. This one: watch?v=GjEsAEsYCw4 and watch?v=JhjA2nvVD7U are awesome!

  • this video should have waaaay more views!!!!!!!

  • awesome performance!!!!!!;) i would like to see more of it;)

  • Omg Johnny i cant get enough!

Thats amazing, iam listening to this song since two years now,i heard it more then 100 times! Gimmi more!

  • @Reen1411 The same for me ! This song is marvelous !

  • You show how to give a soul to a technology ! Thanks and congratulations !

  • This video has 5x more views than Roland's actual product demo video...

Shows how good the music is!

  • Very creative, would sound better with a drummer IMO.A drummer with roland v drums and ezdrummer w/ezplayer pro to start and stop loops using an Alesis controlpad.Hey! I have that! Wanna Jam?

  • This is awesome! Really a good song and I cannot stop listening to it. It would be a nice song to play as well. Are the chords / tabs and lyrics available somewhere or can you consider publishing them somewhere?

  • very cool!

  • After watching this, I went out and bought an RC50 and fired my band the next day! I have seen dozens of loopers at festivals through out out North America, but the traditional style becomes too repetitive for my liking.....this however is something completely different. If you ever feel like doing a workshop on using the RC50, I would gladly fly to the UK to attend.

  • I like your playing style man

  • Awesome!! i've got rc-550,now i just have to learn how to use it XD

  • @JustCore9 Where did you get your rc 50? It seems to be impossible to get a hold of!

  • @hajnosen Uh i don't know exactly,my cousin gave me that little jewel...

  • a new model of the RC-50 is going to be out this automn that s why you cant get hold of it,it will be worth the wait aparently !!

  • HEyy, this is awesome dude!!! An dto all you others, if you want to see this in use with another really creative artist, check out Jalre Bernhoft's live shows! They're awesome. Anyways, gooood job dude! :)

  • WOW....(nothing else to say)...

  • Not the most professional performance but just posted a video response for those wanting to figure out how to do it w/o pre-recording chorus backing or doing the awkward fade out

  • The first example I've seen that demonstrates a practical application of a looper. Awesome.

  • Excellent control of the looping process ! hat off !

  • Cool..Really like this.

  • Brilliant stuff Jonny, love it. x

  • Very cool!!!

    Nice greets

    Uli

  • Guys thanks for talking technical on this cause it's been driving me nuts how it could be done (the chorus). Just got rc-50 and it was bothering me that if I build up the verse I have to drop everything out when I get to a chorus an the chord sequence changes.

Depressing truth seems to be that I need to pre record something for underneath the chorus if I want to keep the song 'building' or find a riff that will go under both chord sequences.

    Ideas?

  • @ninestonerock This is what I do to replicate the sound, although it's not *exactly* what he does it sounds the same. Play percussion loops on Phrase 1, then on Phrase three (One Shot OFF) lay the chorus background lick (Capo 13, D Em C) and auto stop at loop end. Then resume on phrase 2, like he does (Capo 13 Em C). This means when it comes to playing the chorus you just auto stop phrase 2 and start phrase 3. Can post video response if you're really stuck. Need phrase settings Stop: AT LOOP END

  • @jaypem23 Hi, thanks. How to loop a 4 beat percussion on, say Phrase One, then record guitar loop on another Phrase that's longer than first Phrase loop? I want second Phrase to loop by itself. In othr wrds, percussion will continue, regardless of length of the second loop. Only way seems to be to record Phrase Two as One Shot and continually refresh it, hitting Play as it ends so it begins in synch with beat on Phrase One. This is so I can jam/sing over combination of both Phrases. Ideas?

  • @whipperdon You want to turn Loop Sync off. This way you can record, say, a 4 beat percussion loop, then 8, 12, 16, 20 etc beat loops on the other two phrases. If you want to do 4 beat percussion and 6 beat (non-multiple of 4) guitar loop you need to either play it twice, or turn tempo sync off for the individual phrases. Can easily get out of time if you're stomping isn't perfect. Watch some tutorials, you'll pick up bits from most of them. And read the book haha - sorry. It's pretty helpful!

  • @jaypem23 Thanks my friend - that's what I thought... but Johnny seems to be doing something else, doesn't he? So what if he pre-recorded a phrase? It's a great song and great talent. Plus, he played it all himself and it seems to me that what we're all interested in is the end result.

Jaypem - I like your version- you don't have studio, limiters, etc going, but you rock, man. Check out John Gilliat RC demo - looks like he records just by tapping the phrase pedals...? Beats me???

  • THIS VIDEO IS FAKE!

    NOT LIVE - NOT REAL...

The first phrase has only 4 clocks - the second phrase needs 8 (!) clocks for the A & the F!

AND THE FIIRST PHRASE ITS NOT ON RECORD ON START! ITS PLAYBACK!!!

The song was completely pre-produced and is available only half playback by tapping the button .... the only thing that is live, his voice is ...

    FAKE! DISLIKE!

It lights up the whole video is not a red record lights!

I have 2 pcs RC-50 and I know the technical capabilities of the RC-50

  • @JoblessMusic who gives a fuck, its a good song, thats all that matters

  • @oppai182 Hi, no question .. a very good song - but it is not about the song, but the RC-50 TECHNICAL ways my friend ... So go your way foreign ...

  • @JoblessMusic dude, I dont understand, can you please explain? xD

  • @JC994 Du verstehst mich schon mein Freund!

  • @JoblessMusic Most of the song IS genuine, the only bit I can't figure out is the background riff on Phrase 3 (which runs behind the chorus). The phrase is on one shot so the whole chorus length is (probably) only one loop, and there hasn't been an opportunity for him to play it anywhere earlier in the song. This makes me think the line must be played and looped as a 'warm-up' when performing live, and just isn't shown in this video. Great song, quite skillful use of his RC-50!

  • Im not sure about all you said. I think that on the chorus, there is a phrase pre-recorded. But Im not sure about all the song. I have the BOSS RC50 too, and if "loop synch" is off, you can have a different size of phrase.

Sorry Im a french, so it's difficult to explain it in english.

  • @JoblessMusic Lol but can you dream up and sing something this good? :P

  • @JoblessMusic aaand you just proved what by posting this? And if its on playback then he's still using the RC - 50 to a musical end. SHOCKER.

  • I love your song.... very nice ^^

  • Upload some more vids bro.

  • Just got the RC-30 loop station and was looking for vids and found yours. Great stuff! Keep on... -gina

  • Jonah is jealous.

    Nice work. You sound awesome!

  • This is really great- you could make it even better if you apply an octaver to your guitar and make it sound like you have a bass. It would really fill out the sound.

  • Nice job. Simple, lots of texture. I really liked the vocal harmonies. Well done

    !

  • Nice job. Simple, lots of texture. I really liked the vocal harmonies. Well done!

  • Very nice! I aspire to this sort of thing myself. It's inspiring to see what is capable with a little creativity. I love the song, too, by the way. Great stuff!

  • Pretty impressed by the views since this is beginner/amateur looping w/a song that lacks melodyd. Good for you, though, when it comes to exposure!

  • @jonahmusic pretty impressed by your trolling skills. "good" for you!

  • @jonahmusic Hmm. Not sure I understand the no melody comment. Seems to me like there's plenty of melody and harmony there.

  • I couldn't possibly love this anymore than I do <3

  • Hey! You're amazing, man! That's great! :)

  • sweep the leg jonny!

  • Very nice. great job

  • Hey man, really enjoy this song! Trying to get into live looping myself! Keep up the good work man!

  • An expression pedal can be used to control the volume of the recorded loop on playback - saves you bending over.

  • DUDE!!! Go, Jonny, Go! Love this.

  • wow dude, awesome sound and great use of the loop pedal!

  • dude I don't know who you are or where your from but this is amazing I love this song. This is indeed one of the best songs I've heard by a single artist if you have a cd or something you could count on me to buy it. I nicely done man nicely done. You really deserve a record deal if you do not already have one.

  • dude I don't know who you are or where your from but this is amazing I love this song. • Great demo! Great song!

  • wow.. this guy rocks i tried doing it but it aint easy..

  • Just... WOW!

  • This is awesome, so talented, must have taken so much practice to put together something like this! So awesome.

  • I think Roland-Boss it's, join to Fender Products, the very best of this world!!

  • im planning on buying this pedal to do a show to loop multiple instruments on stage. How did you make this work? is the RC-50 the only system you used? any advice is appreciated, thanks

  • @basswiz909 I'm trying to figure out the same thing and I HAVE an RC-50. I get how he does the first part, it's not hard, but I don't get how he did the chorus, he kept some phrases going and move to a new one somehow, unless all chords work together.

  • Wow this is awesome! Thanks for posting!

  • Oh god I'm in love with you.

  • whoa

  • Absolutely beautiful dude

  • dude you could totally go on tour on a motorcycle

  • 20 people dont know talent when they see it!!

  • this is insane found it over xmas time and its catchy as hell :D i have recently bought a loop pedal but could never do this with it. well good mate, awesome talent!!

  • My god, that was brilliant.

  • i would like to go to his concert %)

  • Excellent stuff, Jonny. Great balance and a catchy tune!

I have a question you may be able to answer - I currently have the RC-20xl, and find it REALLY hard to keep the mic from feeding back while also looping the guitar (mic input is quiet - really need to boost it). Do you find this to be a prob with the RC-50, or does the phantom power boost the mic signal enough to avoid feedback? You don't seem to have a prob in this vid! Any help is appeciated. Nice work, and thx.

  • bad ass

  • You deserve at least a 5-fold applause for your band performance pal. Bravo!

  • Brilliant!

  • I definitely have to get a looper as soon as possible.

  • I just wanted to tell you how inspiring this is. I'm going to go pick one of these pedals up as soon as I can.

  • Any fellow RC50 users able to help? I'm confused how, after the drop, he manages to bring the backing vocals back in sync. I know you can do that with 'loop sync', but when you use that you can't record a new phrase that is longer than the original, but in the vid you can see the percussive bit is only one bar and he records longer phrases, so i dunno :/

  • @chris1232123

make the first phrase more bars?

  • @pastyourhorizon that's what i mean though. he only does one bar

  • Hey man, what pedalboard are you using there? By the way, like I've posted before, I love this song you're playing.

  • 19 people are tin men. Nicely done Bro!

  • incredible guitar, very inspired and with a lot of heart and feeling! where can i buy this music? the world needs much more like this !!

  • wow! amazing!

and for all that you used just the boss RC 50 ?

wanna make music like that too!!

  • more songs please! this guy is one of the best. perfect voice

  • I wanted to hate but its really good

  • Hey Jonny, wonderful :-) Thanks for sharing, Peter

  • his use of the boss pedal is BOSS, but what about his other pedals? i love his sound, can anyone identify what else he's using? i know there's a boss chromatic tuner, but i can't identify the rest.

    help anyone?

  • bloody good effort!

  • Most of the people that buy the rc-50 because of videos do it because of these videos. But I disagree with IsisWade, it's probably DUB FX that is making it happen, just like jeremy ellis sells the maschine. Don't get me wrong, sick song, and definitely keep doing what your doing.

  • This is awesome. :) Your really good Jonny!

  • just ordered one of these, boss should pay you royalties cos half their sales probably come from people watching this vid...

  • dude you're absurdly good.

  • a song like this to be constructed from just one person on the spot is incredible.

  • i love this song your awasome dude!

  • Outstanding.

  • Nice! Love your strum/thumb pick technique (I have no idea what you call it!) Sounds great though! Thanks for posting

  • Well I'm sold. I just put in my order for the rc50 with Music123. Nicely done brother.

  • one word....badass

  • great job man

  • Wauw dude

    Good demo.

I have the Jamman Stereo also fery solid.

It's like the RC 20 from Boss.

Did not have enough mony for the RC 50

Hope you make some more vid's

    Greetz Jerom

  • ouaouh ! excellent !

  • solid men!

  • very impresive

  • bit of sweet, bud really cool.

  • Wow. There's passion going on there. Soul. But where can you buy his album?

  • Really good. Does anyone know how to get loops of different bar lengths staying in time in one patch (multi mode of course)? I can't get it to happen. They just stray out of time with each other.

  • RC50 or boomerang phrase sampler?

  • AMAZING!

  • ohh mannn this is fuckin top notch!

    good stuff

  • You're looping skills inspire me! I bought my RC50 off of my boyfriend and I hope I can be as good as you one day. You're amazing. Absolutely love this song and this video! good luck on tour keep up the great work!

  • nice man.............

  • Very cool and great song. :)

  • Fantastic!

  • I agree. I took an instant liking to the song

  • i can't understand how it could not be useful for live stuff... watch some Dub FX thingys, THAT is live and he spontanous. This Loop-Station is soooo awesome for jamming, as well as playing live

  • Ваще круто охринитель чел !!!!!!!!!!!!
