Codewit, U really don't know how much blessing you've brought upon us all in diaspora; at any point in time when I long to get in touch with my roots, you're always there to give me what I want.. May God continue to bless you.
There is this song I heard in the early nineties, I can't remember if it was by Oliver, could U pls upload it if you have it? It goes like "onwere onye ifeoma na asonso oh? Odighi onye ifeoma na asonso ne enu uwa, Chukwunna ka anyi na ayo, anyi choru uwa siriri welele"
Hello codewit thanks for posting, do you have this other track... Ife nile ogwara mu oo ima na otu awu n'ezi.. ofu dinta na nkita ya bara ofia...ha jere iju nta...etc.. please i love it so much i will appreciate if u have it and ready to share.
Bros go learn Igbo Proverbs. If i had to explain egwuoma si na mmiri and other proverbs in this song, then the money paid for your mother's bride price was wasted. Ilu Igbo.!
Sure, ana enwe obodo enwe, depending on where one is coming from. As far as I am concerned Oliver was a collosus. Hardworking, talented and gifted people like him "sokwa nwere obodo enwe". He represented the best of Igboland to the world of music and talents. Oliver, I sokwa! May your sould rest in peace. Whatever is you mean by "egwuoma si na mmiri". I don't really beleve in that nor accept that. Egwuoma si na-aka Chukwu bia and that is final.
Dr. Oliver will forever be remembered as the father of modern sycophancy. His songs made some youths to become desperados trying to get rich by all means. Oliver's songs incited the youths to choose death rather than living a poor or average life. His songs are extreemely motivational and inciting. His songs sparked off the race for aquisition of cheiftaincy title through ill-gotten wealth. It intensified social classification. Oliver is a legend, his gifted and handsome. He was a star.
This ws d signature tune of the campaign org. of d then stormy petrel of Anambra politics, Dr Okechukwu Odunze. In hs youth, Odunze 4rm Umunya, Anambra North Sen/Zone took d politics of his fathers & brothers, Zik, Asika, Okadigbo, et al & turned it to a game. It ws unfortunate dt d powers stopped him 4rm actualizing hs dream of becoming Exe Gov. Credit is due to hm 4 sensitizing d youths into politics.
The proper things are usually said properly and for the things which we are familier with, it is baloney for those whose names n aliases sounds like "fire", "war", "action" n kettle-call-the-pot black to be whimisical. What is inconsistent in my statement for ur lack-lustre comments? 10 degrees seem a lot of lost to ur name or u wld hv a full circle of answer. In thinking, be man.
Do you have to use a dictionary in replying to a short comment that requires u to just say no am not one of his tugs but admired his moves or however you want to put it. Grow up and learn how to respond to comments meant 4 jokes. My initial comment was never meant to insult but u took it wrongly.
It smacks lack of decorum to use the word "tugs" as "jokes" and much an insult when a joke is crossing boundaries in "Grow up and learn ..." Can you find a place for knowing your limitations? The right word is DISCIPLINE. Ignorance does not trumpet values. If you are sorry, say it. As age demands, I've already forgiven your delinquency.
I am from Awka Anambra State, I grew up in Nkwo Anaedo(Nnewi)As a matter of fact,I happened to know Oliver very well,he used to come to our store then,he is a great man.His dead is not only a big to his Family, but also to the entire biafra people and for all those who are in love with highlife music.Oliver RIP!

Nigeria is a rich country one of the richest in Africa, the problem is were governed by leaders who aren't leading us in the right direction, causing the economy to be staggering rather than flourishing. Not only do we produce oil but were the 3rd largest movie producers in the world, and believe me actors are getting paid well. Were all over the world b/c its stability were after.
First of all..........Your sentence is equivalent to you just saying "why don't I just CALL Bush and set up a coffee date to discuss how corrupt he's been leading 'us' for 8yrs, or even why don't I knock on his door and JUST walk in to start advising him. Thats not how things are done. As for Nigeria advise isn't want they need...

Nigeria has never been poor.we are blessed with natural resources...but the country is filled with corruption and mismanagement of funds....not POOR!!!
canada....why?look at it this way....Nigeria is one of the top TEN oil exporting countries in the world and the greatest oil reserves by country in 2005. this our country is well known for....need i say more??
my name is erick,an ibo.would like 2 know u better.but mind u that been a rich country is not d case, but d standard of living of d citizens.i live n norway, which is an oil nation.i can see d diffrence here.
The country wasn't poor? Nigeria as far as l know has always being a poor. What you saw as prosperity then was actually the peak of corruption in the country.
Well, my bros, there is a difference between being rich and having the pontentials to be rich. No doubt the GDP may be high but when you divide that by Nigeria's population you see that the country is very poor. GDP is not a true measure of a country's wealth.
The country wasn't poor? Nigeria as far as l know has always being a poor. What you saw as prosperity then was actually the peak of corruption in the country.
Codewit I would really like to know if there's any way that i can a cd with this songs on it, or probably a dvd for my pops, most of the songs that you have are hits from back when we were babies and i want to give it to him as a present
yeah i was wondering the same thing, although these songs weren't of my time i grew up listening to them and now am a big fan of the music of my heritage. if there's any way please let us know. My parents would really enjoy it. Thnx!
i dont know about the cd but u can download the video in flv format using orbit downloader (if u own a pc) which u can download free from the net. u could then convert them to any other suitable format and then burn them to a blank cd (some may consider this piracy, but...)
