@Whitecrackertrash they get the job done, i have seen them with higher than 200,000 miles without major issues then i have had a couple with less than 100,000 with major issues, the biggest problem i have seen with this engine is timing guide failures, after doing a couple of them i tend to be Leary. however there are many of these on the road, the explorer is one of the top selling SUVS so with that in consideration. i would say there pretty good
you should have redone all timing tensioners and guides while you had the motor out, cuz you cant do the rear when its in, and all cologne sohc engines have that problem of them failing, hopefully the remanufactured motor had the new tensiones and guides
@smytheratcliffe yes you are correct, i was going to perform that task however after inspection i verified this was done already on this engine, i was actually looking forward to making a separate vid on that while the engine was out, i did give the customer the option, as you may know that would add a substantial amount to the bill. but could save even more in the future, i made that clear to the customer, you are 100% correct
if you wanted to put a v8 in there would it fit?
