Do you see a lot of people with dogs on this trial? I thought they were prohibited from these trails? Went back to the Washington trail website and I was right, no dogs allowed. I have dogs and would love to bring them with, but I also like to follow the rules.
Thanks for the pics, this is a help for me--have not been up to Snow Lake yet--always wanted to go there. I guess Gem is even nicer--don't know if you included pics of that in your peice. Nice shot of the s. chopper--that's the way to get there! Thanks! B.
Snow Lake is the first lake (large) you see in my pics. Many day hikers go in there.
Gem is a smaller more quiet place located high up above Snow Lake (2 hours hike uphill from Snow). It's scenic and peaceful. Most of the second half of my slides are from Gem.
Christopher was in a group of 5 campers next to us. He went missing just before sunset the first day. It took Search and Rescue (30+ people and a hellicopter) 48 hours to find him. He was dehydrated and hungry, but otherwise fine.
crappy music... let me rephrase that horrible music. and what is up with the sissy camp stove, everybody knows that real backpackers leave those behind and build REAL FIRES... and if the sherriff shows up in his helicopter, or some namby pamby forrest ranger comes along on foot... a rifle takes care of them with little effort. get a life, go out with a rifle and a pocket knife maybee a bed roll but even that is cheating.
