Should we just listen to politicians & journalists (or political science teachers . . . yeah, sure, "experience" there too) on social/political issues? We'd be screwed if that were so. Actually, Missy Higgins, a musician, is one of the people in this video (that's her song playing in the background) and her tour bus runs on bio fuels to help with emissions. She is also involved in a lot of environmental projects in Australia ('cause that's where she's from....not Hollywood) and is in the process of trying to make people aware of and prevent the proposed construction of oil refineries on the western coast of Australia.

Here's the problem with the Sierra Club in a nutshell: We have massive desert land usable for solar power, but we need the transmission lines. Sierra Club Says no, put the panels on the houses to protect the mountains, BUT WE GET MORE SUN IN THE DESERT...you can't have it both ways...unless, thanks to you Sierra Club...you still want us to burn coal, import more oil, and stop Nuclear waste recycling efforts that countries like France are exploring.

Should we just listen to politicians & journalists (or political science teachers . . . yeah, sure, "experience" there too) on social/political issues? We'd be screwed if that were so. We need more artists keeping abreast, like Bono, of social issues. Btw, lots of entertainers are college educated. But no one needs that to understand global warming. I'm not familiar w/ everyone on the video's knowledge of global warming, but Missy Higgins, whose song is used, is VERY knowledgeable on it.

that may be right. BUT i get flooded with this stuff via internet, newspapers, magazine covers, radio stations, television. all celebrities, all saying the same exact thing. hardly sounds like thought out individual ideas. the hollywood left at its finest.

Sanantonio7: I don't disagree w/ u there. Though a liberal, I acknowledge good points when some1 is on the other side. I realize we're often nearly evenly split on some issues 4 a reason. It hurts the credibility of artists who truly are committed to the issue when others jump on the bandwagon but don't change some of their habits or fail to do research. That said, while musicians' careers obv require extensive travel, I appreciate artists like Missy Higgins who try 2 embark on green tours.
