@RetroShinigami Not sure what you are trying to say...English may not be your first language so I ll let you slide. But still...You words make no sense.
@RetroShinigami Like I said, exception not the rule. There are still people who collect vinyl record because of their nostalgic value but they are few and far between.
@RetroShinigami Sorry to burst your bubble but most people are moving towards digital copies of everything - movies, music, and eventually having everything in the cloud - it a matter of convenience. You might be the exception, not the rule.
I know you made this video pre-maturely 2 years ago. But today Onlive is going on pretty smoothly. They adding games and no longer require a subscription (they never required any subscription fees). I don't think it will fail but the larger their library the more likely people are going to adopt to it. Give it 3-5 years time and then talk.
Your An Idiot... Onlive Is Gonna BE WAY BETTER THAN Consoles Because Consoles Get Old As Technology Evolves...Ass Hole.. Onlive is At its Best.. As Of Right now 8/4/2011 i also not plan to waste 400 $ on Something thats gonna be old in 3 years
Pretty good points here, but I'd have to disagree with the "collector" argument. That just seems subjective; I'm sure many people would enjoy the benefits of a digital game copy than a "hard" copy. Oh well, let each man have his own I suppose, I see where your coming from.
ok you've probably noticed this by now( i hope) but onlive is free to install. you only either pay for one whole or pay monthly for ALL of their games.
try to use onlive before you start criticizing it. something you don't know about onlive: onlive doesnt allow you to play multiplayer with people who arent using onlive
Yeah but Onlvie barely have a good library of video games. Shit MVC3 is not even IMAGINED to be on Onlive, let alone Street Fighter or Sonic. Which sucks Major Balls, so for Now ON Live just Sucks..RIGHT NOW until then I might change my mind if they have more library of Video Games.
I agree it will be Epic Fail , Number one reason why it will fail is cause people wanna own the games not lease them , and they don't wanna be dependent on Internet alone. So yes this is no brainer , Onlive will Fail and they know it too , that's why they still in beta.
it all depend on the gamer but this is a great option to have i don't see myself getting a onlive console 1. you need a broadband internet service to play your games 2. you need a computer to play your games..........and most people out there don't have both and beside if your going to a friends or relative house that don't have one of the two your fuck stuck with an onlive paper weight console i like to own my games and when i'm finish with it sell it back so sumone else can enjoy it to :)
My hard drive is small, and I don't have quite enough money for an upgrade. My motherboard's also gonna go out soon, and if I stress my 2007 tech enough it'll only go out faster. OnLive doesn't stress my PC a bit, even when I'm playing Metro 2033(the most hardware intense game to release since Crysis). I'm a PC gamer, I plan on splurging for an $800 gaming PC eventually, but OnLive really doesn't give me much reason to do so. I'll only get a new PC when mine dies because of the service.
1. u dont have to pay for a subscription, and games are normally 20 percent cheaper than they are at stores
2. ive never seen the server down
3. it only needs a 5 mb connection, which everybody should have
4. you don't need to download games to your computer
5. And you don't pay 60 dollars for the game. You would pay sixty dollars if it was in stores, but if it was in OnLive it would be for about 40. Also, you can play Onlive on any computer.
I dont like onlive too, but I think that will work with some persons, well, also, pc gamer users have the game "literally", and an onlive user just have "video streaming of the game"
As much as I appreciate this misguided attempt at being hardcore, OnLive is the future. And your arguments are seriously weak. No matter how much subscription costs, it's still cheaper than having all the consoles and a PC. Also, compatibility with OnLive it will put PC's back on top of the gaming hierarchy, where they belong. All of the technology necessary is already there. And no, nothing like this was ever attempted. The closest relative would be the Phantom, and it's nowhere to be seen.
Onlive will succeed, as far as your bandwidth argument goes look at WoW they have the bandwidth to support over 16 million gamers, it is completely and totally possible. Also the subscription is an option now For $9 a month you get almost ALL the games in their library, they don't need support from the other consoles they are a whole new console, there will be people (like myself) developing specifically for THEIR service. Viruses affect ANY game. Most gamers are not collectors.
RETARDed people. theres 1 server, it has inf abilites for 100$ thats all they pay for 1 month. and all controllers are remotely the same, and Where the fuck did you get "subscription" from? wtf dumb asses
@travazoid911 apparently you used to have to pay for a subscription and buy the game but now the subscription is optional and you get a whole bunch of games for only $9.99 a month
Probably one of those people that talked all that shit about Nintendo and the Wii, not knowing NIntendo knows what the fuck they are doing. Nintendo brought gaming back in 80s and owned the 90s. just because you want to conform to the hot shit of the week like Call of duty and all the FPS hype doesn't mean what you oppose will fail.

@robdmhaze yeah we are the lowest of the gamers cause we actually have LIVES unlike you who just sit on your ass all day and play halo, call of duty all day xD ahhah
Ok first people dont like to pay a monthly fee. well xbox live has one 8.99$ a month i belive. well onlive has a 5$ per month and and on xbox you still need to buy your games and i played the beta and it is the best thing since shoes. OK SO S.M.D

@16BitJunkie becuase you own them does not mean anything... just means your a consumer..(or gamer) and want to play games. does not mean anything to your thoughts on how the console will do economically. but thanks try again.
@scatmanwfm yes consoles for gaming suck in my opinion too but the wii is a joke, its games suck, it was all hype about motion control then you played the LAME ass games they made and realized this is a piece of shit and in noway stand up to what nintendo has produced in the past.
@robdmhaze Oh I agree. My mother bought a Wii against my advice (Lol) and it sits in the living room and collects dust. I tried a few games on it and it doesn't do anything for me but then again I got a 360 as gift and It's been played twice.
my wii and 360 (all gifts) sit doing nothing, well actually i use my 360 to stream videos to my tv from my pc, but i dont think i have played a 360 game in 1 1/2 years. also the new motion thing for 360 will still not change my mind, i actually dont like motion controlled games i find it gets in the way of playing, you need lots of room, and if you move the controller off screen cause u dropped your hand cause it was tired waving in the air then it takes some time to find your control again
@gamerTonester console gamers are lame, if you think of yourself as a gamer you play pc. no true gamers would ever play console pieces of crap. you fag noob.
@cromwellsimon people are going to buy Kinect because it looks promising, its different, and most importantly Xbox has proven themselves and are followed by millions. OnLive has done nothing but start. I support them but as everyone should know by now, you never get the first of something. because something will go wrong
@BionicUnicorn77 the games are cheaper than any you'll find in stores. granted I don't have the facts right in front of me but my friend told me these games will cost roughly $15-30. Not sure if thats completely correct buy my friend usually knows his shit
This service is going to fail, but the reason is other services like steam. I used to love my boxes like you 16BitJunkie, but now after seeing how awesome steam is, I always buy my games on it.
Another thing, half of the world (Myself included) do not have the bandwidth and ISP stability AT ALL for this kind of service.
Which other ones are there? Besides OnLive, which companies stream games.
inb4 Steam and Direct2Drive because those are downloads which are the same as installing a disc, just over the internet.
Also, the advantages of STREAMING games is that you can play any game on any screen as long as there is an internet connection. Crysis was played on an iPhone with Wi-fi, that's pretty amazing. While, you wouldn't want to play that game in particular, that just leaves more options for developers.
Well today is the day it came out and server is working smoother then when I was a beta tester. I am guessing your a fanboy and you don't give a chance for anything, you enslaving yourself from having the best. Looser get a life.
@16BitJunkie well your wrong already lol, they have just signed major deals with almost all major publishing companies. and has the most launch titles ever. plus you can play for 3 years before getting to the cost of xbox 360.. or ps3. are you a consloe gamer is that why u think it fails? i guess you'er upset you paid a shit load of money for you xbox or ps3. its ok. your mom paid for it...
First off if microsft was going to sue they would have already. Second why would a new game service want help from copetitors?and you said that you want material possesions when you pay 60 dollars for a game, obviously they won't cost that much. There is virtually no lag due to the speciallized servers made just for onlive. Finally this is revolutionary because it will be faster, cheaper, and less complicated than the other systems. Next time do your research.
Internet connection is going to be faster and faster over time , so if today there are not many people able to use it.Tomorrow , there are less and less of that.
I do foresee it taking off. I have very little doubt that it will become a huge success, as a matter of fact. How do I know this? I'm in the beta, but because of the NDA I can't say anything else other than everything they claim is true, and it is very awesome. About the digitalization thing you mentioned, while I feel you, this will not get in the way of you enjoying a game. You sometimes forget you don't have a physical copy when playing ;) The pricing system is another matter...
This looks good, i mean it could be good. But the prices are too high.
I mean its made for people with low end laptops and mac's, where playing games like crysis are a distant possibiltiy, this is meant to make it possible without £1000 for a good PC to run it lag-free.
Same with other games, as for the comment where "if someone fucks with ur intenet it will make it lag"... well that happens with any game online.
R u retarded? You have to pay $15 a month ($180 a year) and you still have to pay for the game you download. That's more than buying a console if ur a hardcore gamer. PSN is free and Live is $50 a year. You can't win if the servers down because you can't play offline. No one smart will buy this.
not everyone wants to be a no life, dorky video game collector. most gamers want their games fast... they dont want to have to go to the store when they might not even have the game in stock. also because of the recession, not everyone can afford a 300$ console or a 1000$ pc, so this is also a good way for gamers to get their games cheap! that is why i think onlive WILL WORK!!!
@christian02020 I agree. as the onlive people are saying, they are not trying to get rid of consoles, they are just trying to put netflix-for-game things in peoples homes
@christian02020 "not everyone can afford a 300$ console or a 1000$ pc"
Lol maybe you might want to do some research before you say stupid shit like that. You can build a pretty nice rig for under 500 bucks I'd much rather do this anyway and buy steam games on sale then pay 40 bucks for extended renting of shitty streamed videos.
Most people won't have onlive on its on, it wont replace the playstation and xbox but it will do its thing happily on it own. Onlive will just be PSN and Xbox live but 10 times better.
Plus if Onlive is struggling a little it can always franchise out.
On demand gaming is the future. It will be the equivalent of interactive TV in the gaming world. We have cinemas but we still made TVs, We have DVD and Blu-Rays but well still made on demand tv.
It wont kill or hurt Sony or Microsoft, they will just become all in one entertainment centres and will do really cool things in extremely sexy ways. Onlive will making online gaming and everything associated with it absoutely sexual and Nintendo will follow up the rear with the causal gaming market.
Most people won't have onlive on its on, it wont replace the playstation and xbox but it will do its thing happily on it own. Onlive will just be PSN and Xbox live but 10 times better.
Plus if Onlive is struggling a little it can always franchise out.

This video is totally your opinion. Not everyone is a collector like you. No everyone has virus in their router like you. Not everyone isn't a cheap bastard and can't pay for a subscription. And most importantly you don't even own the console you can't give me reasons why it fails. The only that fails is you. Good day shat,,,,
heres an idea. What if they let you download a copy to USB? I agree that service isnt lookin good, but i think it would awesome to have acopy of my games on my flash drive. The, you could access file from usb, and play game stream by accessing it as a shortcut?
some vaild comments on this video but people said MP3s would not work because people would still want a physical item and thats been shown to be untrue for most people.
Also most games on consoles are not made by the console makers so if this takes off developers will jump on it as it will be easier to get their games to the consumers.
As far as playing this on a high-end PC I don't realy see the point, but for people who can't afford a PC like that, or for people who moves around alot and doesn't want to bring a clumpy stationary PC (or Mac) I think this will be great. IF it works that is. Becouse playing Crysis on my little laptop would realy be mind-blowing!
Well Citrix has been around for years now and that works fine running over a WAN! Onlive is really the first people to step forwards and say lets do it with games.
You make some valuable points but you have to remember, all your negatives against Onlive are speculative and not based on fact. Until the service gets launched and people start to use it, no one knows what the service will bring.
No input from microsoft... Yet they are running MS only games. How?
Furthermore why does a service need to cater to these three companies?
Gamers and Bandwidth - You posted this on youtube right? Youtube uses more bandwidth than the entire internet did in '00 and that was in 2007.
Fucks of your computers? What do you mean, if someone fucks with my computer not only will it not play games i could lose valuable data - With Onlive all you need is an internet connection. (BTW, QOS)
world of goo isn't owned by nintendo, and giving them the ability to play on the pc isn't a big deal at all...i edit with sony vegas on windows and they are microsofts rival...
(1) first thing to think about you have no idea how much items in the gaming community if your saying things like this because most of the USA is in times has hardly any money to upgrade then buy games and then keep up with patches
(3) IF you are a collector you could at lease have a petition to have on live mail the game you perchased. and finnally if you have a company such as microsoft or sony threatened by this the most logical thing to do is buy and own the ONLIVE
(4) MOST people say it will fail but if you think about it mainly the people that dont see things eye to eye with some one that is in the medium low class in economics
(5) yes it will hurt a lot of companies ATI AND NIVIDA will still be ok because the servers still needs GPU's wich might i add ATI AND NIVIDA makes it only comes down to which will make the first move
(7) so what if there is more companies its more than likely to fail because this is the first highend instant play industry making it harder for others to start if they have the same technology theres no difference
(9) i remind you that this is a new comapany but they will make major adjustment through the beta for that is what its for and will have a major boost in cash the first 3 months or more.
HI 2009, I'm from the future. Here in 2012 Onlive is a free service and it is a resounding success.

@cromwellsimon people are going to buy Kinect because it looks promising, its different, and most importantly Xbox has proven themselves and are followed by millions. OnLive has done nothing but start. I support them but as everyone should know by now, you never get the first of something. because something will go wrong
seandog619 1 year ago
@BionicUnicorn77 the games are cheaper than any you'll find in stores. granted I don't have the facts right in front of me but my friend told me these games will cost roughly $15-30. Not sure if thats completely correct buy my friend usually knows his shit
seandog619 1 year ago
onlive is aiming for people who have crappy computers so that they can play newer games without having to upgrade their computers

Axeface1 1 year ago
Hows does it taste? yea.... your words how does it taste? because onlive is the SHIT! yea you failed.
blackryn0 1 year ago
Which other ones are there? Besides OnLive, which companies stream games.
inb4 Steam and Direct2Drive because those are downloads which are the same as installing a disc, just over the internet.
Also, the advantages of STREAMING games is that you can play any game on any screen as long as there is an internet connection. Crysis was played on an iPhone with Wi-fi, that's pretty amazing. While, you wouldn't want to play that game in particular, that just leaves more options for developers.

16BitJunkie 1 year ago
@16BitJunkie well your wrong already lol, they have just signed major deals with almost all major publishing companies. and has the most launch titles ever. plus you can play for 3 years before getting to the cost of xbox 360.. or ps3. are you a consloe gamer is that why u think it fails? i guess you'er upset you paid a shit load of money for you xbox or ps3. its ok. your mom paid for it...

Link234567 1 year ago
First off if microsft was going to sue they would have already. Second why would a new game service want help from copetitors?and you said that you want material possesions when you pay 60 dollars for a game, obviously they won't cost that much. There is virtually no lag due to the speciallized servers made just for onlive. Finally this is revolutionary because it will be faster, cheaper, and less complicated than the other systems. Next time do your research.

matchbox555 1 year ago
I do foresee it taking off. I have very little doubt that it will become a huge success, as a matter of fact. How do I know this? I'm in the beta, but because of the NDA I can't say anything else other than everything they claim is true, and it is very awesome. About the digitalization thing you mentioned, while I feel you, this will not get in the way of you enjoying a game. You sometimes forget you don't have a physical copy when playing ;) The pricing system is another matter...
Zalo10 1 year ago
You could even play OLv on PS3 or the 360!!!. Just that OnLive wouldn't dare to butthurt Sony or M$ asses!
TheChanclasVerdes 1 year ago
This looks good, i mean it could be good. But the prices are too high.
I mean its made for people with low end laptops and mac's, where playing games like crysis are a distant possibiltiy, this is meant to make it possible without £1000 for a good PC to run it lag-free.
Same with other games, as for the comment where "if someone fucks with ur intenet it will make it lag"... well that happens with any game online.
thebestpioltever 1 year ago
@christian02020
R u retarded? You have to pay $15 a month ($180 a year) and you still have to pay for the game you download. That's more than buying a console if ur a hardcore gamer. PSN is free and Live is $50 a year. You can't win if the servers down because you can't play offline. No one smart will buy this.
xCorruptedRagex 2 years ago
not everyone wants to be a no life, dorky video game collector. most gamers want their games fast... they dont want to have to go to the store when they might not even have the game in stock. also because of the recession, not everyone can afford a 300$ console or a 1000$ pc, so this is also a good way for gamers to get their games cheap! that is why i think onlive WILL WORK!!!
christian02020 2 years ago 8
@christian02020 I agree. as the onlive people are saying, they are not trying to get rid of consoles, they are just trying to put netflix-for-game things in peoples homes

@christian02020 "not everyone can afford a 300$ console or a 1000$ pc"

SwirlyAlien 2 years ago
On demand gaming is the future. It will be the equivalent of interactive TV in the gaming world. We have cinemas but we still made TVs, We have DVD and Blu-Rays but well still made on demand tv.
It wont kill or hurt Sony or Microsoft, they will just become all in one entertainment centres and will do really cool things in extremely sexy ways. Onlive will making online gaming and everything associated with it absoutely sexual and Nintendo will follow up the rear with the causal gaming market.

None of the console makers will "give support" to OnLive? Oh shit, really? You mean they don't like having their business taken by competitors? XD
Leadwerks 2 years ago
heres an idea. What if they let you download a copy to USB? I agree that service isnt lookin good, but i think it would awesome to have acopy of my games on my flash drive. The, you could access file from usb, and play game stream by accessing it as a shortcut?
MasterHasbar25 2 years ago
some vaild comments on this video but people said MP3s would not work because people would still want a physical item and thats been shown to be untrue for most people.

Almost resembles the X remote copying the name? Sony and nintendo won't like it?

if onlive works an they git the wrights 2 alot of sonys games like microsoft did with final fantasy Sony would b royally screwd.
ruzzzler 2 years ago
You make some valuable points but you have to remember, all your negatives against Onlive are speculative and not based on fact. Until the service gets launched and people start to use it, no one knows what the service will bring.
tujumaster 2 years ago
Pay $60 for a game, with onlive i expect it to be around 20 tops (less middle men and piracy + more competition).
And here we get the real reason you want to be a collector so you are dissing something against your self-interest.
NPSF3000 2 years ago
No input from microsoft... Yet they are running MS only games. How?
Furthermore why does a service need to cater to these three companies?
Gamers and Bandwidth - You posted this on youtube right? Youtube uses more bandwidth than the entire internet did in '00 and that was in 2007.
Fucks of your computers? What do you mean, if someone fucks with my computer not only will it not play games i could lose valuable data - With Onlive all you need is an internet connection. (BTW, QOS)
NPSF3000 2 years ago
they are running third party games that have no contract with microsoft...

sry to over fill
jduhhhhman 2 years ago
edit : theres ten
jduhhhhman 2 years ago
this is my list :)
jduhhhhman 2 years ago
(1) first thing to think about you have no idea how much items in the gaming community if your saying things like this because most of the USA is in times has hardly any money to upgrade then buy games and then keep up with patches
jduhhhhman 2 years ago
(2) yes the service seems copied but when can you play a decent high end game on most pc's
jduhhhhman 2 years ago
(3) IF you are a collector you could at lease have a petition to have on live mail the game you perchased. and finnally if you have a company such as microsoft or sony threatened by this the most logical thing to do is buy and own the ONLIVE
jduhhhhman 2 years ago
(4) MOST people say it will fail but if you think about it mainly the people that dont see things eye to eye with some one that is in the medium low class in economics
jduhhhhman 2 years ago
(5) yes it will hurt a lot of companies ATI AND NIVIDA will still be ok because the servers still needs GPU's wich might i add ATI AND NIVIDA makes it only comes down to which will make the first move
jduhhhhman 2 years ago
(6) yes it takes some internet to use this but even ME a medium low class can still buy a 3mbps connection perfect for sdtv quality
jduhhhhman 2 years ago
(7) so what if there is more companies its more than likely to fail because this is the first highend instant play industry making it harder for others to start if they have the same technology theres no difference
jduhhhhman 2 years ago
(8) yes i will agree to the fact that servers may go down but if you do plan to purchase and want the physical material look at (3)
jduhhhhman 2 years ago
(9) i remind you that this is a new comapany but they will make major adjustment through the beta for that is what its for and will have a major boost in cash the first 3 months or more.
jduhhhhman 2 years ago
(10) ONLIVE is just a term but it is no where near the name Xbox Live!
jduhhhhman 2 years ago
well this will probably just be for pc gamers only and I dont think xbox and ps3 players will go into that game style
t3hjayj4y 2 years ago
I agree with your observations however all of you have to admit if it comes out succesfully it will rape the shit out of any other system.
