can someone tell me how he got the fabric so stiff for the red scottish dress at 3;00-3;05 please?.. Also is the guy at the begining fixing the hat Phiip Treacy?
@drillian I think the video is deceptive. I don't think the fabric was as stiff as it appears. It's most likely a combination of all the pleats, beading, the fabric itself (probably starched), and the petticoat underneath, which gave the coat volume. The lack of movement of the graments on the manequins, a chief complaint from critics of this collection, contributes to this as well. As for the guy, it does look a bit like Treacy, but I doubt it. He looks a bit young.
This is his best collection for Givenchy. You can tell that that he made major milestones in his craftsmanship, which he was not shy to put the focus on it either. I find this collection a turning point in Mcqueen's career because he took a lot of these skills to his eponymous line.
@bjorkisaldibaranti The opening music I am not sure and I would love to know but the first song is *1 Crush by Garbage. Second is a Bjork remix. (Joga)
@bjorkisaldibaranti Pierre Henry (fatboy slim remix). The remix is slightly different in this than the fatboy slim version. probably done by Mekon or one of AxQ's frequent collaborators.
i love this collection. i remember watching mcqueen explain his decision to use mannequins instead of live models, so that the audience and the press could focus on the workmanship of the clothing and not focus on what models were walking in the show.
this is the preview of every mcqueen's collection!
