To get good vocals you need to record a main vocal (all the words) and 2 backing vocals (2 works best you can do more though). 1 Panned left (with the last word of each sentence to emphasise it) and 1 panned right with the same effect maybe different words if you want. Trust me. Works good. In cool edit the effect is "channel mixer - pan center right / left

It's most likely no effect. Nothing can replace a high quality mic, D-Pryde's mic is relatively good. You don't need to spend a lot for "Studio" sound.
