This was only a small part of an whole autopsy demonstration, dissection of a dead body. The models were nude because they wanted to give the whole presentation a clinical sterile feel similar to anatomy textbooks. By having the models remain nude throughout it gave the whole presentation a non-sexual element, to present the human body in scientifically from clinical sterile perspective. If they had them change clothes all the time it would have given the nudity a taboo feeling.

WTF ignoring the fact that NO, your patient does not have to be naked, the instructions are anyway wrong, she checks for respiration and then goes directly into compressions, that is NOT the correct procedure, you should check for pulse before compressions because your patient may have only respiratory paralysis and going into compressions if you patient has pulse may cause him heart paralysis

It's due to a history of cases where either a false reading of pulse was detected, or too much time was spent trying to determine if there was a pulse, the belief being to apply CPR to a person with a pulse can damage the heart.

The Redcross has determined that the odds are best for the layperson to just check respiration, and that being the determining factor as to whether the heart is beating

Althought I think if you do a quick pulse check and you clearly have pulse then you should skip the compressions. the only time I have had to put this in practice it worked; it was with a drown man, i came across him on the beach, some other guy had already take him out, and he was fainted, I checked for pulse, which he had, and then I practices some mouth to moth breathing which made the man spit the water.

I've read that the mouth-to-mouth is actually discouraged by most doctors these days as it hasn't been proven to be particularly helpful. And the cardiopulmenory needs to be done with enough force that it usually cracks the ribs.

I'm a surf lifeguard on a reasonably dangerous beach. Mouth to mouth is extremely helpful. We normally have to do it about once or twice a year on unconsicous people that we pull out of the water (none were naked though!) while waiting for the ambulance to arrive.

Compressions to often break ribs. But would you rather be dead with nice ribs or alive with cracked ones?

Thanks for clearing that up! I wasn't quite sure, I am involved with medical practice indirectly but haven't been to a first aid seminar in ages (shame on me). To clarify my point, I basically heard that the emphasis should be on the CPR as it was a more important factor in resuscitating the victim. And the cracked rib comment was of course not to discourage first aid, just a pointer the kind of force being used and how messy this can get (something this video would not indicate)
