Dreamgirls "Move" Lillias, Audra and Heather

I saw Miss Jennifer Holliday in the role (twice) in Los Angeles; she was ill, and not at her best during both performances.

Lillias has always done an outstanding job as "Effie" in every incarnation of the production. I also saw Sharon Brown in the 1985 National Tour, and she was brilliant. These two women have the rare ability to move, sing, and act this difficult and demanding role. It is difficult to invision others doing a better job in this (pivotal / iconic) role

Lillias also sang 'Happy Birthday' to me on a movie set, and made me cry.

Audra MacDonald sang 'When I Marry Mr. Snow' to me in the dressing room backstage, and made me cry.

I will remember both experiences for the rest of my life...

Lillias White is probably my favorite actress to play Effie. Her portrayal, I think, is the most fully realized; funny, sassy, angry, vulnerable and triumphant. She packs a whallop!!!!!!

I saw Dream Girls in 1987 with Lillias in the lead. She stopped the show for about ten minutes just for the wild clapping , shouting and screaming from the audience. We are lucky that we had Lillias recently in Australia.

lillias is jennifer holliday original understudy for effie she can't do it like jenny but she dose good!!!!.

Sheila Ellis was the understudy for Jennifer Holiday in the original production. Lillias played Effie on the Road and also on Broadway when the show returned to Broadway.
