I had a Rich Dad and a Poor Dad, my real father was poor and my moms husband was rich. i lived the first 10 years of my life with my real dad and the other with my step father.

@101simar I don't agree. I think what Kiyosaki did was make his dad and his friend's dad archetypal characters instead of three dimensional real person.
He simply turned them into characters but they based on real people.
It helped him make his points and sell millions of books.

These seminars prey on the uniformed and desperate people who think they are going to get taught how to become rich and play the game like Robert.

@ankitr45 I'm watching the CBC show right now. The thing is the work shops are absolute BULLSHIT. It's good that you noticed that. But when he talks about investments, you don't need his book to understand how beneficial investing in the right things can be. I'm still going to finish reading it because it has some great pointers in there. But my investments are only in Silver, Lithium, low risk mutual funds and Network Marketing companies.

My biggest problem with self-help guru's is the amount of material they release, if they're methods worked well enough - why do they need to sell audio books/seminars etc. The believers will say I'm being negative.. I just can't accept people that seem so sharing and caring to others, at the end of the day, they're all businessmen. @101simar I don't agree. I think what Kiyosaki did was make his dad and his friend's dad archetypal characters instead of three dimensional real person.
He simply turned them into characters but they based on real people.

@BeatTheManDown The book has very sound advice, however, don't get scammed by his "Rich Dad Coaching Seminars". Robert got in with the wrong type of people to make extra cash. These seminars prey on the uniformed and desperate people who think they are going to get taught how to become rich and play the game like Robert.
These seminars cost $500 for the first "class" and if you are stupid they can suck another $60 grand from you.

@ankitr45 I'm watching the CBC show right now. The thing is the work shops are absolute BULLSHIT. It's good that you noticed that. But when he talks about investments, you don't need his book to understand how beneficial investing in the right things can be. I'm still going to finish reading it because it has some great pointers in there. But my investments are only in Silver, Lithium, low risk mutual funds and Network Marketing companies.

The thing I dont like about Robert Kiyosaki is that he doesnt care how he makes money whether it means purchasing oil well drilling rights to Stock Option Scams(taking advantage of the environment and naive investors). That is testament to his lack of integrity!! I can't trust someone like that even though he does offer some good financial advice. My biggest problem with self-help guru's is the amount of material they release, if they're methods worked well enough - why do they need to sell audio books/seminars etc. The believers will say I'm being negative.. I just can't accept people that seem so sharing and caring to others, at the end of the day, they're all businessmen. Why would you give away your money blueprints to others - surely you're creating more rivals/competition

That is why teachers employ reading lecturing projects and groups. Everyone is different.I overheard my nursing professor say that if she wanted me to know something she had to make sure she told me to my face. Once i hear something I never forget it, well rarely! There is no requirement that you buy all his products, or any.

As far rivalry... we live in a world of abundance so the folks who see scarcity instead of abundance are the ones that are concerned with competition. most people quit or complain anyway so it's pretty easy to succeed...it you have a mentor (guru)
