  • i hope lewis does ROC one year...

  • Oh God, he's good! :D

  • oh, ok. senna was good and his car wasnt

  • part luck, not all. lets see if a lucky kid can beat an f1 racer

  • i envy your ignorence, saying 20% of winning f1 races is stupid. a poor driver in a top class f1 car will end up dead with out the proper skill. saying 80% is the car is also stupid, givin one mistake and said car will take you life without hesitation. you need the skill to compete i would say the oppisite it is 20% the car and 80% the driver.

  • now a vary skilled driver in a sub par car is going to race his heart out to place so that would be him giving all 100% of his skill and the car falling short of what he is capable of. thats why i think 80% skill and 20% car is a better analogy

  • no it dose mean he is the best competing driver in the world hence the world champion. racers shouldnt believen in luck only skill

  • He did awesome, if it was dry he may have beaten the stig! That is blasphemy though, everyone knows the stig is a machine who cannot make errors, he cranked out the best possible time.

  • "stig is a machine who cannot make errors" you have been taking the "Terminator" movies a bit too seriously I am afraid! Thankfully artificial intelligence haven't reached that stage yet!!

The Top Gear figure "Stig" were a bunch of different race drivers hired by BBC. One of them widely accepted that was working as the stig was Ben Collins. it is understandable that he faster than the other because he has the most practice time in the particular car and race track.

  • 1:16 rules. I'd like to see you do that in a front wheel drive car. NOT easy! In a rear wheel, it's no problem, but not in a front-wheel drive.

  • Lacetti is FWD.

  • hey what episode is this

  • wr1swd84 you are hilarious! Just love your dedication to an (probably average) ex-racer with enough money troubles to do Top gear stuff rather than hang out in St Tropez on a yacht like ex champs.

And Pro60modman to say it is possibly a current F1 driver... in between testing at Spa they pop back to do a lap in a road car for a tv program every week. genius.

  • hamilton keeps going a bit wide near the line

  • omg hes georges x lorve him so muc x

  • This lap was fantastic, i think Hamilton could be the future stig.

  • Stig was mind warped by what hamilton did. Stigs best lap on this track in that car is 1:44.4 in the dry. Mark webber did it in 1:47 on a wet track. Lewis did it on a wet track that had oil on it in 1:44.7.

So he is no future stig, he makes stig look slow. Hell .3 of a second slower on a wet track compared to dry vs a driver that knows that track inside out is insanely good.

  • hamilton never be as good as stig. if your gunna be like that, hamilton is alot lighter than stig also was colder when hamilton done it than stig which affects car performance

  • blah blah blah. Thats why stig is racing around a test track for top gear while lewis hamilton is racing pinicle of motor racing. Not to mention if you watch the show the Stig was amazed at the time and wanted to know how he did it too.

Even if F1 lewis tends to own the field in the rain. He is just good in the wet, some racers are, others aren't. Sure weight matters, and air temperture, but not enough to make up for a wet track on same tires.

  • want wet. it was damp. also the oil was minimal droplpets. clarkson always goes over top with comments. something you didnt realise the stig drives cars from a huge range and adapts amazingly. touring, gt cars like dbr9 etc. hamilton only really good on f1, lewis lost it in slr round goodwood

  • Wr1 you are clearly a muppet. It was wet, not damp. It was moonsoon, but it was wet. Sure, maybe not a ton of oil, but it was there.

That said for you to say stig is better than Lewis based on driving multiple cars and you seeing Lewis lose it once in something else is retarded to the extreme. I've seen the stig dump several cars off on the top gear track. Race drivers can lose control, it happens.. get a grip!

  • stig didnt lose it as often as hamilton. yeh hamilton in f1 car but stig is well versed in any vehicle, takes more skill. crawl out of hamiltons arse please

  • Holy shit, only one up someones arse is you with the stig. So far you might as well be his husband. Both are good drivers, never said otherwise. You are the one saying one is better than the other with no proof in actually racing. Only thing I've seen them both do personally is that top gear test track in the same car, but in very different conditions. Till I see them racing lots of things against each other I won't call one better. Its not like lewis hasn't driven other things successfully

  • yeh gokarts and formula 3000 or whatever it is. takes more skill to be well versed in different vehicles

  • wr1swd84 you do talk some utter crap mate, with all the £100's of millions that a team like Mclaren invests in F1 every year do you really think they would risk it all by putting someone in the car they didn't think was up to it, the guy is WORLD CHAMPION....that means (despite what you or any other half wit on youtube thinks) he is the best in the world, bar none,END OF!

  • "something you didnt realise the stig drives cars from a huge range and adapts amazingly. touring, gt cars like dbr9 etc."

Seeing as how he's multiple persons under one disguise no surprises there ;-)

Hamilton would be lot better in different conditions of there were half a dozen or more persons doing his driving!

  • if a person is excellent in all kinds of vehicles and someone is excellent only 1 type of car what does that say. yeh lewis would be better than most in supercars but he only drives f1. stig does all. it was a fact that ben collins the stig turned down f1

  • yeah right and stig had pudding for dessert and that affects also teh car performance...

  • The stig is more than likely a current or former F1 driver...and if its still the case(as was with the old stig) hamilton is technically better now that he has won a certain title.....

  • I've been around F1 drivers for the past 20 years and the only one that has a rear like the Stig was Ralf Schumacher!!...Lardy!

  • yup, but the track offers up significantly less grip when wet, as it oviously was. which negates the temperature difference lol

  • hahah the stig

  • woooo hamilton por la llerva como no

tener cuidado que apreta el limitador de velocidad el mu novato

eso no le paso a alonso

    es muxo mejor que el

    jajajajajaaj

    salu2

  • why did they have to say the track was oily....and how many attempts did they give him for the lap...i bet mark webber didnt get that many

  • You are quite right...Mark had more laps!!!The track was oily from a transmission leak from a Holden being tested earlier on in the days filming.

  • y cant u just appreciate that he did a good job...why do u have to look for how they favoured hamilton?

  • good luck this year Lewis Hamilton great race last night!!

  • Too bad Hamilton won't win this year either. Raikkonnen is too good for him, BMW will shake things up too.

  • i agree, ferrari has the fastest car at the moment and BMW are very promising.

  • Do you really think Mclaren aren't doing development work??

  • And you know this for a fact do you BuckTurgidson01 ??

Ok where's the proof ?? Or is it your opinion..

  • Anyone who watches Top Gear knows they stage a lot of stuff. You're naive if you think he is 3 seconds faster than other F1 drivers in a powerless car. If he was he would have been more than a few tenths faster in an F1 car.

  • The time is accurate i was there timing.

  • Whether u being there is true or not, I still don't believe it without proof. I respect the guy's driving ability but I see it as BBC joining in the Lewis hype, he's not 3 seconds faster. As much as I love Top Gear, I accept most of what they do as tongue in cheek, it would add to credibility if they showed the entire laps without cutting them (also for power laps).

  • "Whether u being there is true or not, I still don't believe it without proof"

Incredibly difficult infact impossible to film it myself if i wasn't there!

  • I don't believe the time, the video hardly proves his time when it doesn't show the whole lap. But anyway...

  • Fair comment!I was hardly going to perch on the bonnet to get a complete lap.Unfortunately unlike the photos the video clips only show the time recorded to nearest minute not second, otherwise i would have pleasure in proving it!!Hope you nevertheless enjoyed the clip. You won't be forced to look at anymore of my future clips!!I take offence at being called a liar!

  • This clip doesn't need to prove his time, it was stated quite clearly by Jeremy. I'm assuming you watch top gear, if not you can find Lewis's but on here somewhere.

  • u dont have to justify urself to any1,only some1 ignorant wud not realize this is an amateur footage, the vid is enough proof for any1 and if they dont like it well thats their problem

  • dearg, you are a plank, lol.... Great video Mr RandomDonkey sir, very enlightening. he had so many goes! Cheers mate, Stuey :O)

  • well they cant show u the entire laps and do other things since this is a 30mins show or an hr show i donno

  • go watch d clip frm bbc if u wanna see the full race....plain and simple

  • I must say this video clip is a real eye opener. I had no idea the participants had the opportunity of making so many attempts at a quick lap. I thought it was only two max regardless of whether you were familiar with the car or not.

  • They still use the Liana for race drivers,i guess so its the same benchmark and there is no whinging!

  • As a longtime SCCA driver...and nonwinner...I can tell you I absolutely envy this kid's talent. If he lives long enough, he'll be in the record books.

  • Lewis what are you doing in F1?! hahahahahaha

  • excellent camerawork.....how many laps did your boy have????

looks like you had an excellent day

    TTFN

  • Had aboout 20 mins. Was a grand day indeed! Not that good camera work but only on a normal camera.

But i guess this film is unique!

  • Amazing oversteer at 0.49 and 1.18

  • the man is amazing absolutely love watching him race. Hes a very good driver and just an all around cool guy.

  • pure talent.

  • nice vid! did you go too be in the audience that day?

  • yes

  • As a racing driver i can tell you this kid has got mad talent. He is trying every single line possible, sometimes it looks like he's going slower around the corner instead of throwing it in on the slide, but this is only so he gets more exit speed. Future F1 champion without a doubt.

  • lol

  • well doneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee lewisssssssssss very talented driver
