  • i had a kx 80 that would run fine even when it needed a rebuild.it would just gradually make less and less power.now i have a 2000 kx 250. runs but it runs super rough. everyone says it needs to be rebuilt. im thinking its a carb prob.all ive done to it is replace reeds and change plug.any suggestions why it runs so rough.does it need rebuilding perhaps?

  • 2 strokes arent that reliable and need to be rebuilt every 20-30 hrs. 4 strokes never need to be rebuilt if u take care of them.

  • @kitward24 every bike needs to be rebuilt idiot just think about it sooner or later things wear down the only reason it happens faster on a two stroke is because they are run at very high rpms and thats the reason four strokes cost more to be rebuilt they last alot longer than thier two stroke counterparts, but they eventually wear down and need to be rebuilt just like every other engine in the world

  • @kitward24 thats the sacrifice you make for the power, acceleration, and light weight. 4 strokes are heavier, slower on the throttle response, and and in most cases have less power! I have a 2001 Honda CR250 and absolutely love it!! I don't mind rebuilding it once or twice a year! I would never ride those sissy ass 4 strokes!

  • @peruzfinest08 rebuilding it once or twice a year? unless you race your bike like 5 days a week you shouldn't be rebuilding every 6 months lol. Piston change once a year for the SERIOUS racer is recommended in most manuals.

  • @kitward24 not race 1s they blow up just like 2 stroks and cost more in upkeep

  • I am about 5'11''. As for the kick starter, Inside the casing there is a ratchet-type piece that sits on the kick starter shaft. They get worn out and need to be replaced. I would reccomend getting a manual and doing it yourself. It isn't very hard.

  • i have a 1997 kx250 when i kick the kickstarthard it doesnt grab, if i kick it really slow it catches what wrong please help

  • @goneriden9543 you dont got the kickstart on right or not good enough or its wore out

  • how tall is that guy

  • dude u sound trunk

  • Nice to see you got ur bike runnin. Wat year is it

  • Anyone ever hear of Maxima Smokeless racing oil? Apparently not! LOL As stated in the video, I was trying to start it before what you see. I totally stripped what was left of the splines. So it wasn't exactly the 1st kick, Just the first good one. I let out some choice words, so posting that vid was out of the question hehe I kinda forgot about this video. I should've responded to all the know it alls sooner.

  • @AwfulSmokey @ strokes are supposed to smoke when you first start them! I have an 01 CR250r that i just rebuilt. Took me 3 weeks total and almost $1000 later. I use HR-1 2T oil and my bike still smokes man. There is no such thing as a smokless 2 stroke lol

  • haha same here

  • lost my gf cus i ditched her on homecoming dance to ride mine

  • if that actualy happend you a dumb ass..

  • @snowman1692 I tell you what, A bike Can give you more Trhill then a woman ever could.

  • @MichaelD400 thats what i said! especially with this one....

  • @snowman1692 thats what i like to hear, atta boy

  • @snowman1692 HELL yeah LOL

  • sounds mean. i want one!

  • run the gas out??? haha

  • fuck ur skinny leggs gonna snap

  • no it wont.not if you are carefull with how you kick start i.(if you were refering to it)

  • HAHA

  • uhh u need to run it in before reving shit out of it next time

  • didn't u see how quickly it started and also idled nicely, would've already been warmed up and broken in

  • starting up dont run it in you need tto ride it 1-2 hours to run in. btw it said fisrst kik and cold start -.-

  • i think he meant 'look it started first kick, cold.'

and no fucking shit starting it up don't run it in, read what i said in the previous comment. started, warmed, ridden and broken in, and then probably let it call down to room temp and then starting it again, because a stone cold 2 stroke does not start like that and run like that when cold. seemed like choke wasn't on

  • w/e

  • Yea, i think you are right, that thing didn't even smoke when he fired it up. That is certainly not the first start after its rebuild, and it certainly didn't have a long cool down before this vid.

  • @mitchell8934 I've owned two kawasaki's that would start cold, my kx250 does, probably not right after a fresh rebuild

  • i use klotz benol

  • nasty kick start

  • What year????

  • looks like 2002

  • nah its either a 99 or 2000 i can tell by the swingarm graphics

  • but the frame in the front looks like 2001/2002

  • sounds crisp!

  • not cold at all. that baby was warm as fuck

  • no smoke at all. Def warm. or way too fuckin lean. But im guessing warm.

  • my bike is always smokin, no matter if its hot or cod

  • most 2 strokes have less smoke when warm, or no smoke at all.

  • too much oil

  • @cj7755 ya def, cuz he barley kicked the thing lol

  • tht engine was not cold because u have to clear a 2 stoke b4 it sounds like tht pall

  • way to lean! try 32:1

  • Not cold

  • A perfectly tuned engine should take two kicks when it is cold and sound a little boggy at first. Even if it a 40 degrees C outside you will get a litte bit of fuel condensation in the crankcase that is why every bike has a Choke. If it was lean and cold it just would not start.

  • i can leave my bike for weeks and one kick it starts just fine... may bog a tiny bit at first due to oil settling in the carb

  • @Lonniewinn Well, mine last time i started it up cold , it started 1st kick no choke! KTM power baby!

  • theres no way thats cold! that or your running it way to lean

  • yea my cold rm250 smokes lil bit when its cold and sounds a lil boggy til u run it threw the grears my cr250 as well witch i sold for the rm

  • yea and it would never start first kick or sound quite like that on the first start up after a rebuild

  • nice bike there :)

  • its either running way too lean, or its not cold.

  • lean

  • sounds pretty good

  • nice bike dude sounds good

  • what year???

  • started cold my ass

  • needs new plastic

  • sounds good looks good just lean

  • sounds really lean

  • was alread warm or you running lean as fuck!!!!

  • it's a 1999?!?

  • How many hours are driven with that piston?

I had once KX250 2003 and it took me to jump to the kickstart with all my weight.

  • you should see my kx 450f twice as much compression as yours.

  • I bet your dick is twice the size too..

  • nice sound!!

  • get a honda and get over it

  • cool

  • i sounded like a 125 it was too hi pitched i guess its cause the camera though.

  • dat bike woz warm alredy lol didnt smoke at all ok den

  • plus it revved wayy too smoothly for a cold bike

  • i read on i think dirt rider that a stock rm 2004 was pulling like 46.6 hp but then you jet it put some reeds tie on a exaust probably bore it out and then put some nice graphics and then some yea the graphics make all the power

  • gotta like that 1 kick

  • 72hp...?! Not! A 250 2stroke has under 50hp.

  • my yz 250 05 model has 51 exact when it was stock and it says that on the certificate of origin.

  • 56BHP asstandard on a 1999-2002 kx250

  • uh try 49 you fuckin idiot. it makes 56 at the crank NOT the back tire.

  • relax

  • oh, and he said BHP, not WHP, so i think u should read twice be4 calling some1 a fuckin idiot

  • He said BHP.. Not RWHP.. Pay attention you ignorant turd :)

  • what kind of hp do these have?

  • 72hp

  • umm, you're out of your mind. 72hp on a 250? no way. the kx5 hundies only make around 68 to the crank. learn ya shit fool.

  • comical

    this was funny

  • haha 04cr85 is just another kid on youtube acting like they know something about bikes... 72hp on a 250, yeah right.

  • 35 hp

  • 35 to 40 stock upgraded can bring it up to about 50 or 55.

  • they have about 60

  • you need some 2 stroke oil in there it dident even smoke!

  • choke it n warm it up u hoe

  • you is a kick start lever from another bike or is exactlly for the kx250 if its special for kx250 how did you paid for it???

PS watch my vids and comment thanks

  • dude your supposed to warm your bike up before you even touch the throddle

  • it is to lean no smoke you will burn it up man

  • lol kidding right? after i rebuild a bike, it smokes like crazy first start, i always film up the new piston with oil though.

I needa rebuild mine again soon!

  • it is decent its in great shape

  • how much could i get a decent KX 250 for?

  • well i have a 1995 kx 250 its been great never had problems and i picked it up for 1000

  • decent!

  • does anyone hear that fucking nuke?????

  • sounds like real good compression runs great

  • nice job
