The mental health system is basically crap. I saw a pretty crap shrink for months and months, and I didn't make any progress at all, so I had to quit school. It's pretty up and down now, but I'm actually MUCH better off without the shrink oddly enough.

This is very much what happened to my uncle who was dx'd as schizo. The sad thing is, he was mis-dx'd (we now know it was Asperger's Syndrome) - so basically they stole his life due to their own arrogance and ignorance and one day he decided it wasn't worth it anymore. Then doctors said his suicide was due to his illness. The ugly truth is that for most people, the mental health system is little more than a process of dehumanization that punishes people for being ill rather than helping them.

I take offense at that comment. Psychiatrists help people deal with their problems, and not all of them are, as you said, 'drug dealers' Indeed sometimes placebos are used. Conformity is not their perogative at ALL. And I'd be interested to know what makes you think that they have big egos/issues?

And labeling ALL psychiatrists as bad is stereotyping, that's like saying all 'Looneys' are drooling idiots, when we certainly know that david Tennant is not XD

While I agree Cyberpath was a bit excessive, I think you should rethink what "conformity" means. Read some Foucault. That may help. And yes, too many of these doctor push drugs, b/c it's cheaper than long hospital stays and extensive therapy. We can blame insurance companies for that too. Genuinely ill patients never get a placebo outside of case studies, as that would be medically irresponsible. So I think you're just spewing mosinformed propaganda (or wishful thinking) there.
