  • Same voice from Civ 5.

  • god.. this game and european assault theme... please EA remake this game

  • This song gets me pumped. I don't know why, but it does. Great game.

  • I know Eisenhower said this but who's voice is this on the video?

  • @FreshPilot nope its not him

  • There was a pice of poem too?

  • @beatlemanable1 are you talking the small screen right before they show you in the higgens? That is "And when he gets to heaven, and to st. peter he will tell, Another soldier reporting sir, I've spent my time in hell." Otherwise this was a letter (This is a shortened verson of this letter) given to ever soldier participating in the D-day attack.

  • oh nostalgia..... When one man can take down the whole German army.

  • 0:46-0:49 was footage from fighting in the Pacific, not Normandy.

Never the less, this is an awesome game and an amazing intro.

  • in honor of "the greatest generation"!!

  • tears come to my eyes when i see all the soldiers going into battle on the boats at 0:59

  • years later and the intro still has effect on me. I dont know i just had the urge of wanting to see this video and it makes me proud to be an American knowing i get to live a good life. my heart goes out to all those who fought in that war as well as everyone else who fought in all past and present wars. Thank God for youtube dont have to hook up the ps2 to see this

  • the only war that I would fight in. All these other wars are unnecessary

  • Comment removed

  • F*** you Eisenhower

  • @D0OMZDAYZ

    you'de better be joking. :(

  • @CallsignGooser oh sorry, I only wrote that because people like eisenhower ordered troops around while he was behind the frontlines. He was a good man who made the best decisions possible, I just feel bad for the soldiers who suffered physically and mentally

  • @D0OMZDAYZ Yeah it's called being a general.

  • @D0OMZDAYZ He had to go through the same to get to where he was. He wasn't simply placed as a General officer... He earned it.

  • You are about to embark upon the great crusade.

  • Goosebumps and tears....

  • This is just about the greatest speech ever.

  • I get goosebumps whenever I watch this intro clip...btw best wwII game

  • I remember reading this speech in Medal of Honor Allied Assault and the feeling I got was. This was a very important war and a very important operation. I was a little scared haha. That was close to 10 years ago.

  • Same voice from Civ V?

  • @Nantchev yep.

  • 67th anniversary since the D-Day landings

    1944-2011

  • how can anyone dislike this? :/

  • @Theoneandonlygooner people who don't have brains dislike this.

  • This is and will always be the best WWII game. I regret trading it in at gamestop.

  • @jordanthemonkey8 me too, i traded it in for MoH Vanguard with my German friend, darn, but alas! The video game store in Chinatown in Singapore still sells the 50$ box set with MoH Frontline, Rising Sun which i have, and European Assault which i also have.

  • June 6, 1944 was the turning point of the war God bless all of those who served to make this country what it is today. I cry when i see stuff like this. I want to be a general in the army when i grow up. God bless and Thank You for your duty

  • Eisenhower and Montgomery were the best

  • @bobrobrules Paton > Eisenhower Just because of his nature >:3

  • ps3 remake = COOL

  • Man... this video reminds me of my great uncle, he had some crazy footage like this when he was in the war

  • this game shaped my childhood, and thus made me a history major.

  • @ColonelChamberlain I plan on being a history major. I love history, its my passion. 75% of the time I'm watching TV im watching the history channel, although all they care about is ratings now. -cough- swampmen and axmen arent history -cough-

  • So glad they are remastering this in HD. only 12 more days until it comes along with the new medal of honor.

  • @OGkamikaze The game?!?!! Holy shitballs.

  • I still hear this soundtrack and think about my late grandfathers hitting the beaches at Normandy and Okinawa, and it makes me cry.

  • i dunno what it is about this game...perhaps the superior musical score or what...but i've never played a war game like this. This IS the ultimate World War II game!

  • I know this speech by heart.

  • This game was so awesome! I can still remember 'Under The Radar'. One of the hardest levels I ever played... Took me at least 20 times, lol.

  • @MySpoofChannel I FUCKING HATED THAT MISSION! Lol i cant really remember the mission itself, but i do remember that i hated the name so much. Just hearing the name brings back painful memories....

  • One of the greatest games ever but the only thing is would they really send one person to do all of that work

  • I can't help but to chuckle at the thought of what would of happened had Hitler been around today, rather than then.

  • Great clip, great speech, great game, HOOAH.

  • If anyone has an MP3 link to this, can you reply it to me please?

  • @gvstaylor

    I'll message you a link.

  • As a soldier in the U.S. Army, this speech is so motivating it sends shivers down my spine!

  • 65 years later, here's to the launch of the great crusade.

  • D-Day memorial

  • This intro is almost perfect, except I think they should have used the recorded Eisenhower speech itself instead of the respoken one, at least there is no mistake like saying "lest" instead of "let."

  • @StrangerQuark yeah but this guys voice is way better than ikes. he makes it sound epic

  • @DEMIGODofWAR7 No...the defending force on iwo jima was much more entrenched than the German conscripts of utah, sword, and gold beach. And rangers wern't even special forces back then, so they dont "pwn" marines

  • Great Music for this. Love the Sound track for MoH. I'll often times just start it up just for the music :D

  • Who is this speaking?

  • @DEMIGODofWAR7

The US lost 2,499 men on the beaches of normandy.

The US lost 6,821 on Iwo Jima,

and thats with better intelligence, over a month of naval bombardent, and better trained soldiers(marines)

  • @ele90 Trying to compare Iwo Jima with the Normandy landings is just ridiculous. They were two immensely different kinds of battles. The only real comparison you can draw is that they both involved amphibious landings. Past that, there's no way to effectively compare them and say one was more difficult than the other.

  • @JagdPanther101 You can tell when a person cant make a legitimate argument when they say "you cant compare these two things"

  • @KaiserReich98 Well that's an interesting blanket statement. If true, then you can obviously compare, say.... a laptop computer to a green bell pepper, right?

  • It is appointed unto man once to die, but after this the judgment Hebrews 9:27 God has appointed a day when He will judge the world in righteousness Acts 17:31 FEAR GOD WHO HATH THE POWER TO CAST YOU INTO HELL LUKE 12:5 Repent or Perish Luke 13:5 God is angry with the wicked everyday Psalm 7:11 The wicked shall be turned into Hell Psalm 9:17 REPENT AND SUBMIT 2 JESUS CHRIST NOW! DON'T PUT THIS OFF! YOU COULD END UP IN HELL TONIGHT! REPENT NOW!

  • Comment removed

  • @KaiserReich98 My mom is like that....she thinks all ghosts are evil and want to kill you and possess your soul....anything that is foreign or strang to her she calls work of the devil.

  • i once spend a summer playing this....used to be so fun...this game is godlike and the intro gives u a chill down ur spine

  • My first Shooter, I must have played through this campaign at least 50 times.

Also has one of the best soundtracks of all time.

  • i have played this game thru and beaten it, it is amazing, i love it, and that last level on hard is a bitch

  • I used to start this game over and over or wait on the starting screen for hours just to watch this scene over and over. This scene gives me goosebumps.

  • @EliteDarknessScyther holy shit i know, its amazing, like a really good song or something

  • Man this was a powerful speech. Usually I don't care about this kind of stuff but wow just wow

  • WTF, they didn't use the original speech. It sounded better when Eisenhower said it.

  • because that one was slower and fussy

  • yes but it sounds so much more.... I don't know the word, it's just better.

  • original

  • best intro...

  • i love the arguments of would of, could of, should of, germany lost the war FACT and we lost 60 million people to it. So why sit and say how the war could of ended a different way if certain countries had made different choices. Be thankful the germans lost cause hittler would of done far more terrible things if he won. Just so you know as well ppl always talk about hittler in ww2, the japs fought longer and combining all the islands and countries they took, conqured more land than germany

  • Well tiny islands are easier to take than huge countries. Just saying,

  • @EliteDarknessScyther I think taking Iwo Jima was a little harder than taking normandy

  • @SystemERROR44 ha? k number one, we didnt lose 60 million, are u fuking crazy? we lost 30,000 look it up and also hitler would have been killed soon anyways, plus japan didnt take as much land as germany?!? crazy person, they took the chinese coast, some islands, korea, and the general siam area. geramny took all of europe except a little of russia and england plus some of africa.

  • @cwinowich ummm.... either read a book or use the net to google it the statistics of WW2 and then call yourself a retard. YOU ARE A FUCKING MORON. Your the reason why ppl will forget things like this ever happened. For your information dumb ass, germany didnt take all of europe and they only took a small part of russia. YOUR AN IDIOT. lol. YOU KNOW YOUR A TOTAL FUCKWIT CAUSE YOU OBVIOUSLY TYPED WHAT YOU THOUGHT HAD HAPPENED WITH OUT BASING IT ON ANYTHING FACTUAL. please kill yourself.

  • possibly the best intro video created in video game history

  • I agree i don't know how many years it has been but i still remember this video being able to quiet an entire room of drunken 20 somethings and make them take stock of what the greatest generation of their same age accomplished.

  • what's the song in this video?

  • europe start many problems why would the usa help them. just for it would be dangerous if hitler took over

  • The Nazis had a bomb under operation, but the Fins launched a Surprise attack on the compound. Destroying all the progress the Nazis made. But the Nazis didn't have everything under control, all of them were exposed to the deadly radiation killing most of their top scientist. They just didn't know how to keep the radiation under wraps, ultimately not knowing how to make the bomb. The US, and British worked on the bomb together, so I guess we both get the credit. The US, just used it first.

  • Who would get the bomb first UK, Nazi or USSR that is all that matters if USA never entered the war.

  • This for the guys below.

Germany's armor was very small in comparrison to the Reds. In fact the German Armor was out numbered 3-1. And the Luftwaffe was also out numbered to the Reds air force. Truly, the only magical thing Germany had for them was their Officers. Brilliant. Mainstein was absolutely brilliant. Wonderful counters, and great field strategy. If Hitler would have allowed Paulus to exacuate the city before cut of and surrounded, then the War would have been VERY different.

  • Great game, great spech. They truly were...the "Greatest Generation."

  • @AnnaNicolesDeathbed they really were the greatest generation, sucks alot of them had to die but it was for a noble cause; a world of peace, freedom, and justice for all.

  • Awesome game!

  • americans camed to help the war 1944 and the war was in europe thw war started 1939 so america didnt so well. they camed in the end. sweden sold weapens to hitler

  • wow. you couldn't be more wrong. america entered the war in 1941. and we were rendering assistance to the Allies much earlier than that. we invaded north africa, sicily, and italy all prior to 1944. your thinking of WWI. we entered in 1917 and it ended in 1918.

  • yeah but after to years when the war started camed america. but why did they come. europe could take care of it

  • Obviously Europe couldn't "take care of it" being that virtually all of western Europe, with a few exceptions, was under Nazi Germany's control until the US entered the war. America, my family included, sacrificed a lot to free Europe. By denying the importance of our involvement you are insulting our sacrifices. Stop it, it's incredibly offensive.

  • we could

  • No, you couldn't. Because you didn't.

  • look we had russia england franch and but it was a help when americans camed im not saying that was meen that was nice of the americans i just saying we could

  • Ok, I think any reasonable person can see that you're just an anti-American douche bag. You can't admit that Europe owes it's freedom from Nazi Germany, in large part, to America. From your comments it's also clear that you know very little about the war.

  • The role of the United States was important but the outcome of the war would have been the same but with different results.

Nazi Germany would have been defeated anyway, after the Battle of Stalingrad and the relief of Moscow the Germans were on a general retreat even before the United States battled the Germans for the first time in Kasserine Pass in Feburaury of 1943 and lost.

After the War the new boundry of communism would be Germany its self, the west would not have control of Germany

  • While we'll never know for sure, I believe that without America's involvement the Soviets and the rest of the Allies would have eventually negotiated an end to the war other than unconditional surrender. If the Germans didn't have to worry about the US led invasions of Italy and France the Germans would have been able to concentrate their forces on the eastern front and fight the Soviets to a stalemate.

  • Germany did not have the resourses to fight a long war. The Russians had nearly a nearly unlimited supply of raw materials and fighting men. As for negotations the Germans and the Soviets were in a war of survival, the winner would win it all and the loser would be whipped from the face of the earth. It would have been a slow trudge but the Soviets would have one the war in the end with or without America.

  • I disagree. Germany could have fought the Soviets into a stalemate using men and resources from the countries they occupied prior to Operation Barbarossa. As we saw on the Western front the Germans used captured troops and captured war materials to bolster their ranks. The Soviets had already taken appalling casualties by the battles of Leningrad and Stalingrad. After a more few years taking casualties like that they would have had no choice but to negotiate an end.

  • Germany did have the oil feilds of Romania, and they had great innovative techniques. The Russians suffered tremendous losses esspecially at Stalingrad, lenigrad, Moscow, Berlin. Despite the losses the Russians had a vast supply of oil and the Russians never had manpower issues. In the end numbers will always prevail. If you outnumber an enemy 15 to1, you will win every time.

Even if the Germans held they would never accept a soviet surrender as this is a war of annilihation.

  • Again the Germans could have come up with enough conscripts between all it's captured territories to match the Soviet's numbers if they hadn't had to contend with the US and the other Western Allies. Even if they couldn't, the Germans' vastly superior armor and air forces would have more than made up for their smaller numbers. But because the US and Western Allies were involved, the Germans had to spread out their armor and the Luftwaffe took a pounding at the hands of the USAAF and the RAF.

  • I agree, Germany had enough resources in 1941 to make more weapons than both the Russians and British, way long time before the Americans get busy into Europe in Mid 1943. The Germans were not nearly as good as managing their economy and industry as the Allies. By the time they did start fixing it the Strategic bombing offensive limited its growth.

  • Ok first off your dumb we entered in 1941 also you didnt have frace's help other than a small resistance group becuase france was undercontrol until the US liberated them. And why did America come? We didnt join the war for shits and giggles. We were attacked by Japan, so we declared war on them; this caused their allies, Germany and Italy to declare war on us. That is our que so shutup. Like Crysis said you dont know anything about the war and are confused just stop talkin now

  • lol I remember this game. I loved it!

  • yeah it is understandable quite a profound speech and music is great. not to mention the context it all falls into.

  • Don't know why, but I get emotional with the speech and BGM. Great game.

  • This game may not stand up to todays war games in terms of graphics, but it still can stand up to having the best soundtrack ever.

  • word.

  • @theygotwhattheydeser im glad other people think that too :)

  • @theygotwhattheydeser a person can say better but....i couldnt have said it any better :)

  • I Love this game It adds fun to history lessons. Man even my dad loved this game! I should buy it. even though I beat the game already when I rented. I think one of my granpas drove silimiar boats to shore sa the ones at the beging of the game. he's lucky he never saw too much action

  • also this was the first shooter i have ever played and i still think it was the best i have ever played, classic im 13 but if my kids one day ask me about a game i played i am sure this one will come to mind

  • this battle really makes me sad especially at the end when it shows the men in the boats goin 2 dday (notivce a guy smiling at end of boat)

  • the music towards the end really touches you, these brave men are the real heros!

    GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!!

  • You mean America and all the other nations who participated on D-Day.

  • Don't forget the Germans. They deserve respect for defending countrymen in battle too.

  • Can anyone tell me whether those fighting in Normandy had any knowledge of what was going on in concentration camps?

  • Only the SS did. And even then they were just following orders. You have to realize they were trained to think of jews as non human. It's the way parents teach their children today, will reflect them on the future of their life, you could say. Besides that small little jew factor you would probably think the SS were outstanding citizens though.

  • thanks!

  • For a fan of shooter games and a WWII buff, this was undoubtedly the GREATEST video game I've ever played. The opening was also classic...maybe the best ever. Thank God the makers of the game cared so much about the history of it because that made all the difference.

  • medal of honor:frontline was the best game i have ever played

  • agreed

  • my grandad was in this war he belives in god cause he was stuck layed down with a mg42 firing at him and as it came to kill him it stopped he says the belt ran out and he belives was saved by god he says he will never forget what it was like to fight and watch your friends die

  • That, must have been the best feeling in his life D:

The belt running out, not his friends die I don't believe I could watch my friends be shot.

  • What an amazing introduction cinematic. Made me feel chills and everything. But it was sort of ruined when he fucked up and said "lest us all." :/

  • if there is a god which i hope there is, I bet he would have been watching over them when they invaded.

  • blow yourself kingy

  • Frontline's D-Day makes BattleField 2's seem positively restrained! My favorite levels in frontline are: D-Day and that one where you're in the village.

  • did you know that the first bit where you see the troops marching across the docks and then walking up the gangways was actually footage of the British gearing up for the 1940 invasion of Norway? The editors used clever editing to make it look like allied troops heading off for D-day.

  • this was my first world war 2 video game iv ever played. i loved it and beat it the same week i got it. 5 stars as well.

  • damn that speach make me want to be in d-day even though it would be a horrible experience

  • You spelled fun wrong.

  • what that music when he says " you will bring about the destruction of the german war machine"

  • IIRC, it would be when the credits roll.

  • That's not General Dwight.D.Eisenhower!!

  • A dur , Fred!!!

  • "We will accept nothing less than full victory..."

This easily applies to us in the crusade against the neo-nazi Jack Thompson...

  • Let us all beseech the Blessings of the almighty God upon this great and noble undertaking! Thank you General Eisenhower!

  • this was the second ww2 game i ever played since the first was medal of honor underground.

  • what its my favorite though...

  • the d day first level shocked me completely it was fucking awesome!!!!!!!!!!!

  • been a long time since i played this one... good times

  • I loved this game it was the first WW2 game I ever played and got me hooked on it. 5 stars

  • I love this intro

This is one of those games i will never forget

    ;)

  • beatiful speech plus gives thanks to the truly one that made all this possible

  • good luck chaps! *salutes with tear in eye*
