That's exactly how I cook mine. I use a ratio of 2 to 1 (water to rice). I use an aluminum pot and no stirring. I think I may cover a litter earlier, but pretty much the same. Thanks a lot....now I'm hungry.
Good idea! I know lots of people who store rice and don't eat it on a regular basis. Boy are they in for a surprise if they ever have to dig into that food storage. It will wreak havok on their system. I usually wash my rice in cold water before I put it in the pot, then I do just what you did, only I add a bit more oil. It never fails. Thanks ironhead! Happy New Year! Noreen
man im glad i ate before i watched this.last time i watched a vid with food being cooked i short circuited my keyboard.great vid brother ,im gonna make sure the head chef watches this.
I have the same pan you're using. It was my grandfathers. I broke the large metal bolt that held the handle on, and need to use an easy-out to replace it.
Not only that, but my cousin called just a couple of hours ago asking how to make rice. You make yours very similar to the way my wife described it over the phone.
This looks soooooooooo good

An acquaintance of mine from years ago was married to a Chinese man. He ate rice everyday. Here's how he taught her to cook it.
Rinse rice well 3 xs. Add to a deep pot. Insert index finger. Make sure rice comes up to FIRST KNUCKLE of your index finger.
Add potable water up to the SECOND KNUCKLE.
Add butter, seasonings, whatever.
Boil 10 mins high.
Cover with lid.
Simmer 10 mins low.
Turn off heat; let rest without heat another 10 mins.
Total cook time: 30 mins. Perfect every time.

What if you have extremely large fingers? LOL. I'm going to try that. What type of trice did he use?

He ate white rice, but I cook brown rice the same way. I like a little olive oil or butter in with mine, too.
