  • Like if u thought that was cruel and abusive

  • this is so cruel. im glad they finally band this sport. it made the horses go blind from the force of when they hit the water

  • Das ist so absurt !!!

  • why was this not bad back then but now

  • that was fun i wanna do it again

  • wat in the world is this why would u do something like this it's dangerous!

  • The original diver, can't remember name, dove in with her eyes open and it blinded her. We don't know the history of these horses after these dives. Nobody documented it. How do we know these horses also didn't go in with eyes open and went blind or worse??? People say this isn't cruel because the horse doesn't look bothered. Are you a vet and did you evaluate the horse after the jump? NO. And I'll bet neither did anyone else EVER!!! No report of injures so assume it's okay? NO!!

  • the horses belly's are very soft, a wrong inpact will cause internal damage and the organs to bleed. So yeah the horse may look like he is cool with it, but do you really know? How would you feel if you were sent up a long ramp with no other way out but to jump over a cliff? I cliff dove in hawaii and let me tell you, 12 feet of water on a 40ft drop is a painful hit to start

  • u r so true that horser may not of looked bothered but some dont and they can still be hurt

  • I swear this is from a film...

  • There are so many close-minded idiots on here. This is cruelty.

  • how do you know this????

  • Actually, no horses were hurt doing this, but the RIDER hit the water wrong and went blind--and she kept doing the act, the horse runs up the ramp WITHOUT the rider and she had to listen to his hoof beats to judge when to jump on.

  • @sueotk2001 no horses that anyone knew of, honestly. now there are so many animal lovers that they will be watching very closely, if it even looks like a horse took a wrong hit, there is going to be hell to pay

  • I rekon it is cool, but it is bad if the horse gets to much water in their ear, and that is a perfect opportunity for it to happen,...

  • Its bade for the horse to get water in their ears!!!!

  • @84horsecrazy Have you idiots ever seen a horse drink water?

  • @iatrestman Um yes but there whole body don't go in the bucket your the idiot!

  • Thats epic, and the horse doesnt care

  • that is crazy!

  • im not sure whether or not to laugh or cry or both.... that was the weirdest thing i've ever seen.

  • the worst sport ever

  • lol this isnt cruelty!! the horse was trained to do this! It looked pleased with him/her self when it came out of the water.. stop freaking out the horse was fine(:

  • Im sure now if it was done yeah, it would be cruelty. Because the one training the horses wouldnt take the time to build the trust with them. I agree with other comments, I saw no whips,no spurs, not much fear in the horse.Mostly trust of the rider.&also I liked the point about horse racing. No horses were injured over the time this act took place. Horse racing injures as well as kills a lot of horses as well as riders. Sure I would like to see some sort of protection for the horses eyes though.

  • i dont get this.. doesnt seem right to me ! hate horse racing to.

  • @Shandars1bella I used to own race horses when I was 13 and raced them till one day my favorite horse, my baby, took off out the the gate and I honestly don't know if it was a jockey error or he slipped, hit the gate or what, he fell and broke his leg very badly, I held his head while the vet put the deadlt needle in him and he went to sleep forever, 27 years later I still cry over that loss, I refuse to let anyone put a animal in danger from that day on! NO DIVING HORSES!

  • omg!

    VERY BAD!!!

    I DONT UNTERSTAND IT !!

    FUCKING PEOPLE!!

  • The things horses will do for us

  • Dont get why people are calling it cruelty cos since the horses were babys they have been trained to this, Like showjumping!!

  • this is animal cruelty, i almost cried because i dout that horse wanted to jump from 50 ft in the air and plunge under the water, mean!!!!

  • @taylortiger100 if it didnt want to, it wouldnt have. the horse never panicked or anything. the girl didnt force the horse to do it, no kicking or whips or anything. the horse enjoys its work

  • the horses is zo happy

  • english......................

  • OMG Poor horse! :(

Why in the world are so stupid people like them?? :(

What did that horse did for such a bad life??

  • men vafan!?!?!?!??!?!?!

man ska recpektera hästarna! inte använda dom som badleksaker.... -.-

  • wtf! the poor horse

  • @bountybebie I guess racing them and breaking their legs is more humane. Never was a Horse injured diving and was much safer than racing, jumping and just plain riding. I wonder have you ever rode a horse?

  • it's normal for a horse to jump this way. it's in their instincts . and no they could NOT break their neck when they hit the water ... it's been a very popular sport in circus, in the 1950s but it was very dangerous for the human and not even a bit for the horse. it's not dangerous for the horse's eyes because they have the reflex to close it when they hit the water .. :P

  • the horses could break there neck when they hit the water

  • The horse looked like he had performed that feat thousands of times. Most horses don't like jumping over ditches, much less off of anything like a platform. I just pray that he learned to do that because he had a really good trainer, rather than being forced, as in the use of an electric prod or something like that. Some horses and their riders do some crazy things, just because they can. And yes, she could be stepped on or trampled, but she's really a good rider.

  • holy shit! thats just idiotic!

  • isn't that dangerous?

Mona.

  • my horses love swimming....but diving?.....i think my stallion would rather buck me off into cross country fences!!! (i dont think hell ever stop doing that...sigh..)

  • Thats awesome!!!!! My horses would never do that!!!! Does anyone know if there trained to not breath under water??!

  • @TheABLTZ

It's just a natural instinct for all mammals to hold their breath underwater (:

  • so i just found out about Diving horses, and i wish i was alive to see them in their hay day (pun really not intended). I don't think horse diving is cruel, i used to ride horses all the time, whipping them can be seen as cruelty. But riders still do it. I don't think its cruelty at all, for all we know those horses that still do it are having the time of their lives.

  • weird, but not cruel. if the horse didn't want to do it he wouldn't have.

  • ....you people know horse racing could also be considered abuse too, right?

  • Comment removed

  • animal abuse!!!

  • I dont think this is cruel at all. The horse is willing to do it, and no harm comes to them during it. More horses get injured on cross country jumps than any horses here. NO horses were ever injured diving, compared to todays sports.

  • do not know,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

  • @edandjanis do not know why u used commas,,,,,,,

  • is that the new drowning pool song "Let the Horses Hit the Water"?

  • yeah but the whole time these horses are gonna be crapping themselves ! they dont choose in the wild to go diving off a board ... they r forced to do this they dnt do it by choice ! it so so so CRUEL ! doesnt matter wot physical injuries the horse cud get point is wot mental state the horse is in afterwards ! also horses are actually nervous around water as they can't see for danger in the water so they tend to stay away from it this is totally cruel!

  • And the horse just walks away like a badass.

  • Wow, that horse clearly knows what it is doing. Not sure why I kept watching this 20 times over and over again? Very interesting.

  • THATS MEAN

  • Ha awesome and the horse didn't look that bothered

  • This used to be legal but then animal rights activists pushed for it to be banned at some point. Does look pretty dangerous...

  • Wow that's amazing! But what's with the music?

  • I wish I had lived in that time, according to reports .. SONORA webster diver was special because he was blind.

a beautiful story of overshoot, where the spirit goes beyond the limits of the body. I love horses, and believe that they suffered from this.

  • not cruel...horses are natural swimmers...many love the water...

  • I think that is very amazing and I doubt the horse would do it if he did not want to. The could have gotten injured however had the horse refused to do it.

  • well i wont make a comment wether i think this is cruel as i have seen two horses jump like this of a river bank but they jumped from fear so i would like to know what they did in the first place to train these horses

  • this is so stupid!

  • Saw this dozens of times at The Steel Pier in AC and thought this was normal entertainment.Have times have changed.

  • @Mannix08215 ...............i don't understand your comment.........are you saying i should not have submitted it or what? ed ball

  • omgi ove that!!! love horse look like he was like trained and having fun almost!!! :L paha im gonna get killed for tht x

  • It actually isn't cruel. Out of all the seventy years the act was around, not one horse was ever injured. Horse racing, on the other hand, injures and kills thousands and thousands of horses. Hhmm, which seems worse?

  • @hopelesslydevoted16

how would you or anyone know what the horse is thinking.

no horse is going to like face planting water. it doesnt take a smart person to figure that out

and horses enjoy racing and their made to run so which one is more natural for horses would be a more intelligent answer

  • @Gemimalee I could say the exact same to you. How do you know if a horse likes running? They naturally know what to do in water, so it is natural.

  • @hopelesslydevoted16 and the reason its obvious horses like running is that they run in the wild!!! and horses are always galloping around paddocks. pretty obvious!

  • yes swimming for horses is natural and if thats all the horse was doing then it would be fine!

horses dont naturally dive into water in the wild!

and in the information about this a lady that did it forgot to close her eyes once and went blind, horses dont know to close their eyes when diving from great heights so if a horse forgot to close its eyes the horse would go blind and all for some stupid act of entertainment.

  • @Gemimalee Yes, only the rider, Sonora Webster, was injured. Not the horse. You obviously didn't read my first comment well enough because out of all seventy years of the act, not one horse was injured in any way. That includes going blind. Thousands of horses die because of racing, not diving.

  • @hopelesslydevoted16 yes i know so what!

read my comment properly and maybe realise wat i actually said not make something up!

imnot having an argument with u if your going to be plain ignorant

  • @Gemimalee Ha, that's funny. First of all, I never said you made anything up? Second of all, maybe you should learn to use grammar properly so that I could understand you. Your comments don't even make sense.

  • @hopelesslydevoted16 they dont make sense coz your an idiot.

and i said you made it up not that you said i did!

hence why your name on youtube is hopeless!

this is the last comment im making coz this is a waste of my time.

now to prove my point have you noticed that the majority of people commenting on this think its cruel so obviously your wrong!

    end of discussion!

  • @Gemimalee Just because the majority of people think it's cruel doesn't mean it is. You're not making sense. You can't even type correctly hence why I am having a hard time understanding. And my name is from a song, idiot. We each are entitled to our own opinion, okay? That means I tcan hink I'm right and you can think you're right. There isn't anything wrong with that, geez.

  • @Gemimalee yes swimming for horses is natural and if thats all the horse was doing then it would be fine!

horses dont naturally dive into water in the wild!

and in the information about this a lady that did it forgot to close her eyes once @hopelesslydevoted16 and went blind, horses dont know to close their eyes when diving from great heights so if a horse forgot to close its eyes the horse would go blind and all for some stupid act of entertainment.

  • @hopelesslydevoted16 thankyou :) its so silly because it jumped on its own and was fine but in racing they force the horses and they end up dying

  • @amy1teto1jazzie1 I know! Horses in the racing business get injured all the time, and they are treated badly when not racing. Horses were never forced to dive and never got injured. Plus, horses back then did not get whipped.

  • O M G. That's so..stupid, And more than cruel !!!!!

  • OHHHH LE GROS MONTAGE :O

  • @p0vre2m0i Un montage ?

  • !!!!! wow

  • Soo cool thx for posting!!!

  • that looks like the biggest rush ever

  • O_O

  • That is the craziest thing I have ever seen! I have horses and I don' t think I could ever make them do that seems a lil cruel but idk weird!
