The angry video game nerd is a prime example. He misses his childhood and wishes we could go back to a more simple time. He just hides it behind a wall of criticism. I love every ending to every nes game. It was brilliant for that period of time.

You are all forgetting that this was nes. Late 80's, early 90's. What do you expect? You are used to 360 and that has clouded your mind. We couldn't save our games. The endings were awesome when they were in their prime. It is easy to judge this 18 years later.

wow that's it? how cold. in the gameboy version, there is a whole cutscene where he gets the merchant and the band to play for him, and he even marries the princess in a really well designed anime graphic. it's much better

Btw I just recently found out that if you beat the game 2 times in a row (without dying?), after the ending a line of text appears and the music box music plays. It worked with an emulator.

Poor quality, I'll admit, for the final boss animation. They only utilized sprite movement, not frame changes... now that's just lazy. Oh well, sounds like memory limitations anyways.
