all the users who say final cut and other crap are better does not know how avid works. I have avid lessons on school and it's extremely difficult to learn compared to other crap programs.

Great video, already had Liquid with HFX but recently got Avid 3D and its fantastic absolutly outstanding , before i used LightWave 3D but incredibly time consuming

I do not use composer however but Liquid 7, my question is FluidMorph a AVX plugin?

I believe FluidMorph is an AVX plug-in. It comes with the standard version of Media Composer.

WAS standard. Nowadays everyone is switching to Final Cut, from amateurs to professionals (Since they're switching to Macs too).

no they are not, there is an increase but a good 70ish percent of pro film production is avid its about the same as the percentage of market share that still use windows and its like that because of that reason.

granted looking at the list of films produced this decade its about 50/50 fcp and avid but thats not including live broadcast and tv shows

to the guy who says avid is just like sony vegas your wrong. Put it to you this way sony vegas is not used for professional feature length videos avid is. Avid is used on 85 percent of all hollywood feature films in fact the dark knight and milk are just two of the many films cut and edited on avid. If you want to go the amatuer route go vegas or pinnacle if you want to go pro go avid or fcp i prefer avid though!

You can create some cool effects with Sony Vegas, but it is primarily for the consumer/hobbyist. Avid is more appropriate for film and TV professionals or  high-end video production.

Media Composer (which comes Boris Continuum Complete) is definitely more robust than Avid Xpress Pro (which has fewer effects). You can create some pretty cool effects using Avid 3D with Media Composer, but Adobe After Effects has greater variety and gives you more control when it comes to creating motion graphics. Avid is best when it comes to pure video editing. Hope that helps!

Whats the diffirence between the Media Composer Software and Media Composer Mojo DX/Nitris DX?

Hi Jeff -

I believe Media Composer software that comes with hardware too (Mojo DX/Nitris DX) can handle multiple streams of uncompressed HD. Nitris DX comes with a Finishing/On-lining toolset that includes advanced color correction and Universal Mastering. Mojo and Nitris hardware allow you to capture video from analog sources (i.e. VHS) into Media Composer.

I guess this will set the standard for Avid, I think i'll get it! By the way, how much space does Avid take when you install one of the versions less than $300?

Hi lankacricket - You have to be a student or member of the faculty at an Academic institution to purchase academic Avid products. The academic versions have most of the same features as the pro versions, but do not come with all the third party software i.e Sorenson Squeeze for encoding, Boris Continuum Complete (high-end visual effects package), etc.
