The twin towers, among my favourite buildings in the world~

Before the sun comes in they dont look like the twin towers at all. They are missing the darker strips where the sky lobbiers were.

@athabascka This is an alternate universe. If you watch Fringe, there are small and big differences in the alternative universe so that would allow for the buildings to look different.

The newspaper reveals a lot about the other universe! mainly that the White house was destroyed instead of the twin towers.

if you notice around 2:40 when the flash of sunlight goes across the towers, they change a little and the details become less sharp. I'm pretty sure that's when its cuts to the real video but I am not sure. I will say this one of my favorite scenes on any TV show ever. And it was really cool to be able to see the towers over lower Manhattan again... :/

I wish they'd do this with more shows and movies. I think that would be the ultimate tribute. Some shows even took them out of older episodes as respect, I think it would have been more respectful to prove that they existed rather then erasing them and pretending that they did not. Great ending. Fringe is a good show!

lol i just dont get it how when dunham was in the elevator, and when the elevator was traveling down, you could see ontop of the elevator door where you see the floor numbers, theres no level 13

I gave up on this show after episode 8, it just wasnt coming together enough for me. But then when I heard about this and saw this clip it made me go back and watch the rest of season. The second half of season 1 was much better and this was one of the best cliffhanger scenes ever on tv.

JJ Abrams is such a great storyteller! At first I am thinking how cool it is to get Nimoy revealed as William Bell, but to then have a shot of the WTC still standing in a parallel universe totally blew my mind. Bravo! I am so looking forward to season 2.

@tommygilleran i hate it how people say how awesome JJ is. well he is good, but he really only came up with the idea 4 the first episode. the rest of the season , including the finale featuring the parallel universe, is written and created by the writers of the show and the producers and such, and it is unfair that JJ gets most of the credit. thats just my view.

When you first see the zoom out of the WTC towers, they are animated, but when you see the first glare of the sun is when it fades into real footage. It's nearly seamless, unless you have a good eye

It's just 3D compositing. And they put the video of Olivia into this 3D object, through the window i think... Amazing ending btw !

@bubblx In other scenes the towers are likely from true footage, while any alternate buildings constructed in the skyline parallel to those truely existing false. They likely used footage from the 31+ years they stood. The interior of the towers, likely a small scale set with false windows resembling those of the original structures and with the views much the same as well. Fair answer? Zooming out, likely a computer simulation was constructed to represent the towers for this scene though.
