The movie with Jane Fonda and Vanessa Redgrave is quite good, but it is fiction. Lillian stole the story from Muriel Gardiner-Buttinger. Read Muriel's memoir, "Code Name Mary", for the fascinating true story. Lillian Hellman was a big fat liar and adored Joseph Stalin.
Julia, like it's author Lillian Hellman has vanished from popular consciousness. Perhaps its for the best...she would have hated the world this has become, and no doubt hated the pop culture ruled by the internet most of all...
This movie is definitely worth watching, if you get a chance to see it on TCM sometime...complex, insightful, thought provoking and very sad. (Pentimento is the name of the work on which "Julia" was based)

I love the feeling of this scene. The costumes are great too.
