And just so you know, you do not represent me in any way shape or form.
You share some of my values, but that is where the line is drawn.
Fairly soon, when you hit the unemployment line like the rest of us, you will realize that it is only integrity and honesty that will keep you in office.
It is your fault, and every republicans fault that we do not have a R in office right now, but should we?
We should not have a Republican at any cost. We should have a democrat, libertarian, constitution party, or hillbilly party for that matter if the Republican cannot be trusted.
And that sir, is why you will lose your seat, not because of the crazy left, but because of the LYING right.
Get rid of the phony bookcase and the staged flag and the ugly tie and tell us why you voted for the pork-laden, socialist-healthcare-mandating, fascist bank bailout bill, dirtbag.
I think if we want to fix education, there are a few simple steps to be taken. First get the public schools out of the social engineering process. Second, allow more school choice and give parents who send their kids to private a school a tax break for the money they save the public schools. Next, get the federal government out of what belongs to the states. Also, stop pushing one size fits all standards. Finally, stop telling children they will never make it in life if they don't go to college.
Senator, why do you seem so insincere when you speak? Is it because you're attempting to do damage control now since you are up for re-election next year? In the words of Trump, "You're Fired!!" I'm in the GOP and you will NOT get my vote!
hey.. didn't you vote for TARP? You thought it was a good idea to hand a blank checkbook to the banks? Now that was one fine fiscally conservative vote!
Wait, wait.. and you're trying to sell us on the DOE?! A Republican trying to tell us that more federal government is the answer? Ha. That worked so well for Bush..
Then what we need to do is get God and Prayer back in our schools! And the DOE OUT! Look at what they are teaching our kids in school... I'd quit too! The dept of education and the federal government has failed our children! Politicians taking money from lobbyist and teachers unions needs to be OUTLAWED! Get rid of the DOE! Give the schools back to the States, Local Governments and "We the People"!
We The People of North Carolina elected you Senator Burr, Not the Lobbyist and Teacher Unions!
Since we want to spend money on education anyway can we also set up a nice Ron Paul class that all candidates running for public office are required to attend and pass?
As a North Carolina citizen I think it would be a great idea for the Federal Gov to get more involved in education. While your at it can you make sure we teach our kids what exactly a fiat monetary system is and how much debt they are in before even graduating from elementary school? Maybe we have a low graduation rate because they want to get a good start on paying these bills that we continue to create.
Your jacket makes your eyes look so blue. Pretty. Perhaps you should go into male modeling or perhaps do ED commercials instead of sending the taxpayer's money down a rat hole.
I am a North Carolina student, and constituent. You may feel the need to legitimize yourself and feel important, but the federal government should have no jurisdiction or say in the education of children. The DOE shouldn't even exist! Need I remind you of the 10th Amendment to the Constitution? Want to make a real difference? Leave the peoples money and children alone. After all, they are infinitely more creative, intelligent, and resourceful than you or the federal government will ever be.
Senator Burr is a great Democrat. He lost me when he voted for the first Tarp in Oct. I have not forgotten. I'm sure he thinks the people will forget. Dole, who was up for reelection this past Nov., knew the will of the people, and voted against it---not safe, secure Burr.
Every time the federal DOE is expanded, our students fall further behind the rest of the world. When Democrats or Republicans grow the Federal DOE, our students fall behind. Principled Republicans work to retain LOCAL control over education, in the states and the counties - not 2000 miles away in Washington DC! As our Republican Senator, you have a duty to uphold Republican principles like local control of education, so please don't further destroy our children with your federal education plan!
As a constituent from the old North State I wish the senior Senator would learn what a Conservative is. The DOE should be shut down immediately and education returned to state control. I hold out little hope that Senator Burr will listen as most of his communication back to concerned constituents is written as if the person was in 2nd grade. Perhaps the Senator can become educated on true Conservative principles before he becomes the ex-Senator from NC.
Education is the not the problem or issue for the federal government. Each state is responsible for the states education. Be true to your party. Be conservative and make the federal government smaller not bigger. It is not your job to tell children what or who should teach them. It is first the parents job to teach the children. No steps the DOE should be your priority. Leave this to the parents and the great state of North Carolina.
What a croc of government crap. If Burr and his GOP buddies don't realize that our entire American way of life is under attack, a friggin education won't mean a damned thing.
I am an NC constituent and I agree with nalejbank. Shut down the DOE and return education responsibilities to the states. Just think how much money that would save! Besides, not every kid WANTS to graduate from high school, and not every kid is cut out for college. In addition, a college education is not a guarantee of anything. My spouse has a BSME and an MBA and can't get a job going ANYTHING. So quit talking about education as the great SOLUTION!!! Keep US jobs for US citizens!
When I hear a US Senator talking about "education" and what the federal government can or should do, I am quickly reminded that there are things that they CANNOT do! My challenge to my Senator is to show me the specific grant of authority to the federal government in the US Constitution to spend one dime on or have any say on the subject of education.
Republicans used to criticize fed-gov's interferance in the business of the states. Apparently, not anymore. How about shutting down the DOE?
Kids in America arent studying as hard as kids in India or China and thats why those nations are excelling for the most part in recent times.

Just have the Federal Reserve issue you one of those trillion dollar checks it creates out of thin air and give it to our schools.
You didn't mind them doing that for the failing banks and AIG, then why not for our failing children?
