Bon giorno Paola- He is expansive, worldclass, and the cabriole is spectacular. He doesn't change speeds in pirouettes.. however centered they are. Watch Ivan Vasiliev and you will see my point.
ivan vasiliev in my opinion is the most promising among the young dancers ,his tecnique is terrific, did you see him in flames de paris posted by russianballetvideo in whic performes a triple saute d b?
There is nothing I.V. can't do, except grow 6inches. Can you imagine if he had Godunov's height? That Spartakus was hard to accept (As great technically as it was)Sometimes size does matter.
To pediatroaola & Leonnidik. Please go to the Vasiliev videos and post there. Taras is an unbelievable dancer! His musicality, the incredible extension, the flexibility, those beautiful feet -- Gorgeous! Vasiliev could learn a thing or two from Taras. Ballet is not just fast turns, but it's also about control, elegance, and musicality, and being able to emote, all things that Taras has, and Ivan has yet to master. Oh, and there's that small issue about height, or lack there of.
I agree, there are areas Vasiliev does need to work on, however... i find it strange that you pointed out Taras' musicality, as in this video it is bad... His open manege is out of time after the 2nd cabriole, and his jetes at the end are also far too slow for the pace of the music!
Don't get me wrong, he is wicked, just i dont think his musicality is best being made an example of in this video...
I agree with you that on this video he seems a bit off, but you have to remember that on YouTube sometimes the videos and the music aren't in sink, which I believe may be the case here. I highly doubt that they would have given him a Gold medal if he was not in sink with the music.
@macosvi - Ivan has to master "emoting" !!!!!! You obviously have never seen him live. The Don Q and Spartacus I saw him do this past year were phenomenal!
His stage personna and expressiveness electrify the audience.
Tara is lovely but he was dancing - not performing.
@macosvi I HOPE YOU ARE NOT SPEAKING ABOUT VLADIMIR VASILIEV.VOLODIA HAS NOT TO LEARN NOTHING BELIVE ME I AM OLD ENOUGHT TO HAVE SEEN HIM LIVE MANY TIMES IN 70'S ,HE WAS THE GREATEST DANCER MAY BE OF ALL TIMES.LOVE DOMITRO,SAW HIM ALSO IN CUBA,IS GREAT,BUT VOLODIA IS VOLODIA
No wonder he won the Gold!

really good, the music is a little too fast for him, he gets good elevation
the menage could have been better,he should be doing barrels as a professional especially as the gold medal winner
apart from amazing technique,he is a little dull as an artist / facially

Oh, and yeah, Bravo Taras!
I like the way you eat space on the stage!
Lots of passion, but with control. Very nice Solor.

Hey, all you "size matters" folks... The only time size matters is size of expression. If you express big, you look big.
Case in point? Mikhail Baryshnikov:
5 foot 6, but bigger then them all because of his persona on stage.

WOW he is something else... He kind of reminds me of Zelensky... How old is he?
