  • i work at a supermarket and my managers are all ok with my dreads.

  • I'm hope when us younger people are the older people all this BS goes away, it's pretty stupid. I'm not black but I want to get dreads, I think only ignorant people who know nothing besides what goes on past their small world make that big a fuss over something so small. It's 1 thing if they're actually dirty dreads which most likely is due to using wax, but we all would have dreads if we never had these products. Ridiculous that people think one certain area of hairstyles is the only way to go.

  • RACISM STILL EXIST.

As I pursued my dance career many moons ago, I had to deal with white America. My signature was very unique - shaved head. Wore a "wig" to interview and after I was hired, I presented my SHAPELY, SHAVED HEAD. I was fired (no reason given) with 30 mins walking through their door. I didn't pursue legal action, but I should have.

DIFFERENT CAREER AND I DON'T G.A.S. (GIVE A SHIT). MY FAB-U-LOUS LOCS ARE HERE TO STAY. I SAY, SCREW THEM THRU SUNDAY.

  • probably fired from the dildo factory for sitting on the job, just kidding

  • I went to an interview at a pharmacy with my locs and got the job. Idk the situation sounds crazy.

  • @monilove5 That's good to hear because I want to become a Pharmacist and have locs lol

  • i dont know what fair work is like in other counties, but i live in australia and I know that if i got fired without a fair reason, they would get into so much trouble. I almost lost my job because i was dealing with some health issues. i told them i talked to fair work and they took back everything they said lol. Im currently doing my dreads now and I think its disgusting how people are so shallow about anything different.

  • People in this world are a bunch of liars, that's the problem. This country constantly preaches about equal opportunity employment bullshit and we are the world and all that shit, but then it's a different story when they are faced with the reality of what that actually entails. I can't stress it enough that I am so sick and tired of worrying about how to keep my hair natural and keeping insecure co-workers happy with my hairstyle. It is frustrating to say the least!!!!!!!!!

  • @tmq2moo yeah its a shame cause it really isnt an EOE

  • Sounds like jealousy and insecurity. They are trying to force you into assimilating into european culture.Being who you naturally are in amerikkka is just too powerful. If you don't like the discrimination, create your own job.Asians create their own, europeans create their own,and now alot of mexicans are creating their own. So we need to create our own and support one another,we wouldn't have to worry about this.

  • That's really messed up. But by the way your locs are fresh man!

  • The mango n lime shit stinks like a mutha fucka lol Alot of bums in the NYC area rock the dreads 2 lmao Hot sexy girls dont like em , tired of the oily products u cant

wash out ur head until it gets frizzy, tired of re twisting those sons of bitches lol When working out n when cleaning up my shits Itch like a mutha fucka and takes 4 every to fix them up and i shouldnt have to be worrying about fixing up my locs IMA FUCKING MAN 4 CHRIST SAKES keep it clean cut short n out get sum gel

    lmao

  • NO dreads are not cleaner then normal hair how is cleaning ur dreads evry 2 weeks comapred 2 every day cleaner I had dreads been growin them for 2 years n tho i LIKED them they were

such a bitch CUT THAT SHIT out ur head ud be surprise how many women dont like dreads n no im not ugly or anything but seriously all my friends who r girls i asked bout dreads said they r nasty ! Dreads is matted tight knotted hair

theres no way its clean i shampooed my hair evry day but my locs would fall out

  • @YoungKnoccOut No one is perfect, dude. YOU don't believe that dreads are cleaner than "natural hair." And I don't believe that a dog's mouth is cleaner than a human's. But hey, what IS the truth? YOU don't know! Who are YOU or YOUR FRIENDS to judge?

  • All this is is another thing that people try to use to make themselves sound like they are hated. This is the most asinine thing i have ever heard. i can understand the whole black thing but just for fucking hair? give me a break. Step up your performance in your job and quit bitching when it does not work out.

  • @abcdefghijklmnopqrya yu fuckn dumd this hanpped to muh uncle yuu must be white soo dis has nuthing to do wit yu..bruh in La we tell dumd cracker's like yu tah''GET DE FUUUCCCKK!! i wannna show yu what nikkaz muh bad nigger's do so bad...real talk

  • @brell311 oh of course talk shit about the "cracker". honestly does it take longer to type like a fucking retard or not just wondering. and please answer me this question who brought the slaves to America, The White Man, who bound and sold them like cattle, The White Man, and who freed these slaves, The White Man, and who has dug us into a financial hole that will take years to get out, The Black Man, Who invented the automobile, The White Man, who founded peaunut butter...we do more period.

  • samething happened to me the first day i showed up with natural hair i got fired told if i wasnt willing to change my hair not to come back i dont have locks im a loose natural

  • i heard if you say your rastafarian you can sue them for discriminating against your religion

  • i would be damned if i had to cut my dreads just to be accepted by white society i got locs because haircuts were getting expensive (80 a month) and pay bills theres comes a time where you have to make a sacrifice. its been 3 years since i grew my hair out i saved over 700 just for that i have no plans cutting them soon and fuck those who oppose

  • When your hair is relaxed. White people are relaxed. When your is Nappy. White people are not happy - paul mooney

  • I like your locs :)

  • Not all, but a lot of people I have met who have dreadlocks have a funny smell. It's wrong to discriminate, but it is a problem to work with someone who smells bad. I think if more people with dreads kept their hair from smelling funny, it would go a long way to improve the image. It's very sad that women are pressured to get weaves to pursue a more "white" look. That 's worse because it's hard to keep clean.

  • When I first got my dreads done for the first four months "locticians" told me not to wash my hair until it locs. Some said for 6 months. One loctician refused to wash my hair so I went home and washed it myself. She said that "dirt makes the hair loc and washing your hair would make it not to lock. Well my hair locked regardless.

  • I know people with dreadlocks who go 1-3 month(s) without washing their hair. I believe that the lady was fired for lack of performance. If it was just dreads, they would've told her it was against the dress policy. They wouldn't have just fired her. Since she was still on probation, they could fire her for any reason. Dreads are clean because the person with the dreads washes their hair every 5-14 days. I have one year old dreads. I first washed every 2 wks, then switched to once a week.

  • Thinking back i thought i hadnt experienced it but do remember being interviewed by two white ladies. I had actually set my locs on pipe cleaners the night before so even i admit my hair was kinda big, lol. But I remember them both staring at my hair after they had each asked questions. I was experienced but didnt get the job, their loss :P

  • she should have waited 90 days no just 5 weeks. they can fire you for any reason unless it's past your probationary period.

  • ...got an interview today...nervous

  • Yep its sad but thats how it is...but all i say is that make sure that your locs are neat nicely edge up, and if there long make sure that they are in a ponytail. and if someone still says something about it then its most likely discrimination!

  • Hearing these Discriminations against locs in work places makes me want to cry, I mean it's 2010 now and society is judging you by your hair?.. Like does it matter of what your hair looks like? Last time I checked I thought it was about skills and the love of working. - Keke.

  • It is a shame

  • @TheDlwade81 fuck them racist snowmonkeys brotha. they dont want us to be our african selves. the visual image of being african mind and body is a threat to them. nature will slay evil. we will not give in. bless up.

  • @TheDlwade81 That is so fucked up and they wonder why we black folks wear weaves. When we got slavery going on in the form of them actually LEGALIZING AND LEGISLATING self hatred against us by kicking us out for wearing OUR OWN GODDAMN HAIR for Chrissakes, that is just....fucking smh!

  • @TheDlwade81 In racist ass Louisiana, I knew a girl who went to my school after being kicked out of either Ursuline or Cabrini for wearing braids!!!My ignorant ass old school parents were like, "That is nigger hair," and they are BLACK! I wash my hair almost everyday just because I like to play in it! With weaves and processed fake hair, I couldn't do it!

  • @HappyHookerTV that's crazy and the sad thing is our parents have been brainwashed to belive this garbage....Racisism is still alive and well

  • love the clip, ur locs look great . I look forward until the day that my locs would be that long as u did urself. I have such a long way 2 go but I think I will make it.

  • @futureDreads be encouraged man..it will be here before you know it

  • Thanks for the encouragement!

  • I don't see why anyone would judge you b ased on your locks especially if they freshly twisted and mantained very nicely. I think it's being more and more accepted with athletes and celebs wearing the hairstyle more.

  • @momonami5 its happening..

  • To karmbaby -

well i ain't white, I am hispanic-but if you judging ALL "white people" it sounds Racist-If you ever have a chance to get your DNA analyzed, I guarantee you that you will test out NO MORE than 33% "African DNA". you have "white people" DNA inYOU,There is no such thing as a full blooded anyone God created us in His image, and 2 not judge books by there covers.Abe Lincoln & "THE WHITE PPL" lived by this same code and is the reason slavery was abolished OMG! ABE was a "WHITE MAN"!!!

  • @VillanThaHero I agree with ya for the most part but Lincoln didn't care about slavery he cared about uniting the country, abolition was a byproduct. "THE WHITE PPL" of that time didn't live by any code that regarded black as equals. That was the result of the CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT, where blacks forced whites to be give us that equality under law, the same movement you benefit from. The idea of fairness didn't even come up until the 1940s. Learn better history.

  • OMG that is soooo unfortunate that happen to her....i dont like to say this but this is how i feel sometimes....sometimes i really really really dont like white ppl.....real talk... =(

  • HAHAHAHA

  • The stigmas that exist regarding locs are something that we (folks with locs) have to understand we'll deal with when we set them. 1. People may think it's not hygenic 2. People may think you're a militant 3. People may regard you as a non-conformist 4. People may think you smoke weed unabashedly

the spirit of natural hair is oppositional. People do not need to hide or minimize the phenotypical differences that exist. Unfortunately American beauty standards are still European standards.

  • couldn't have said it better myself

  • I agree with BigC83Boss, Thats why im going to start my own business.

  • yep make your own rules

  • I agree......I would have went to the interview without a wig also. To let the interviewer know," this is me, take it or leave it, and don't judge a book by Its cover....."

  • yeah in a way she was lying to herself...it is still wrong though...

  • smh wow thats messed up. i hate the fact that people have to hide who they are just because there is something that doesnt meet coporate standards. locs are a natural hairstyle...& its really a shame people cant see that. now like i said before i can see if it was unpresentable & unsanitary...then yes that would be an issue.

  • Question: what do you use to keep your hair line lie down slick and smooth like that? I'd love to see if I can recommend something to hubby for that. Thanks, and stay blessed

  • @fabulousladydoc I will have to post a video on my routine..i use clippers and scissors to do it...also i keep a wavecap on my head when i am in the house or sleep

  • It's such a shame. I will say though, that my husband is a 27 year old male in corporate america, and has long, thick shoulder length locs, and doesn't have an issue at all. As a matter of fact, he's in London right now on assignment for a few days (he does computer programming and software engineering), and they paid for his entire trip. So I guess it just depends.

  • @fabulousladydoc Very true..the ignorance isnt all over..i work as a teacher in a predomintant black county so i am too lucky to not have any discrimintation

  • I would have went to the job interview without the wig period.

  • @Troxler1911 oooh trust and believe I would have did the same thing...take me as I am...

  • I got treated in a similar way a few years ago when I used to wear synthetic braids! They didn't fire me or say anything to me, but I could tell they didn't really "approve" of it, and they seemed less uptight when I took them out a few months later.... I mean its bad enough that they discriminate against the color of our skin, now our hair? Ridiculous.

  • @POETIQPRYNCESS I am thankful i work in a predominate black county in MD so it really isnt a issue. But i could imagine the dirty looks..makes you feel weird i know..

  • It is extreme racism, that is why we need too come together start building our own corporations and stop theirs. Our needs too circulate within our people, we need to understand it that. Especially our women definitely need to stop spending money to these RACISTS corporations and restaurants.

  • @BigC83Boss I feel ya..that would be the overal solution..hurt em in their pockets

  • Yep!

  • That's a damn shame! I can relate in a similar way. I interviewed for a job with braids in my hair but showed up on my first day with fresh baby loc spiral twists. OMG the reception was totally different. Everything I did was heavily scrutinized from that point on. They couldn't fire me cause I already had grounds for a lawsuit against them for a hate crime committed against me in one of their other facilities. The way I feel now if someone told me my locs had to go in order to work for

  • pt.2

them I would give them the choice between my locs and a nice clean SHINY bald head. I bet they'd rather me show up with locs. Where do these damn people get off discriminating against NATURAL hair?!

  • yeah that is crazy J...I am really amazed that this goes on..I guess cause it wouldnt happen as a teacher..But I would have a lawsuit read to go if i ever switched jobs

  • your hair is nice. and thick. =]

  • welll thank you so very much.. i am honored that you took the time to stop by and comment on my video...Your videos are very entertaining and yours locs are very nice too..KEEP IT LOC'd
