  • where come the sound from ???

  • This would have been much better if the camera was positioned so you could set the R16 display. Looking at the back side of his hand as he navigates screens that we can't see renders this about as useful as it being simply an audio tutorial. It's a shame because he really seems to know a lot about the R16

  • preciso urgente um video aula do zoom r16 em portugues, quem puder me ajude ok, pipoca.som@hotmail.com

  • How do you listen to a recorded track?

  • how do u go about deleting your one track if you dont like it? like if i put a layer of guitar down how do i delete it off the track to put a new one?cause i tried to just record over the same track and the old guitar is still there

  • No Sé ablar inglés ;(

  • The single most helpful video for the Zoom R16 on youtube. Now if only I could find the same guy to explain how to do the effects to the extent of say my Zoom G7.1UT. 5/5

  • R16 record in Stereo or Mono?If is Mono how can I do to set in stereo?

  • NIce review, tho wished you'd used the drums from Zoom - not those from a BOSS unit - for a better review. Now I'm concerned that you clearly found Zoom's drums so lacking that you opted for the BOSS device - even for bass guitar. Speaking of bass, does the included software turn a 6-string git into a bass, so one can add their own bass lines?. And how good are the guitar effects?. Trying to decide between the R24 and V-Studio 100, so any suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanks!

  • Why do you have to format your card?

  • How do you ad reverb to a single track after the track has been recorded?

  • if it's a 16 track, why are there only 8 inputs? sorry i'm a bit new to this....

  • @Smurchison you can record 8 tracks at once. or if youre recording in the studio, you can record up to 16 altogether

  • @Smurchison it has a button to select a 2nd bank of 8 more inputs. you can only record 8 live inputs at a time. you can then bounce those tracks over to tracks 16-24 and have the first 8 tracks free again for recording. the same principle applies to to the R24. still 8 inputs with three banks of tracks.

  • can you only record the guitar in the first track?

  • @hallster101 you can record any input to any track.

  • where is the footswitch for stand alone recording like a guitar player thats uses both hands... zoom should add that ....

  • what do you do when you cant punch in-out your self ???can i use a footswitch with that for my punch in-out??

  • can i use a foot switch with that for my punch in-out??

  • just a quickie dude! did u use a normal jack to jack guitar lead in the first input?? thanks.

  • I cant see any of the buttons that he's pressing...and how do you record a full band 3-6 at a time... am I stupid or what... (dont answer that..lol)

  • Is it true, that using it as an interface, you can only record a few tracks simultaneously at 24bit? Are you stuc at 16 bit recording a whole drum kit?

  • I WONDER HOW CLEAN THE SOUND THAT THIS ZOOM CAN RECORD.. WAS IT NEAR TO PRO TOOLS OR M-BOX INTERFACE ? I HAVE AN ANALOG MIXER THAT I WANT TO USE BEFORE TO THE DIRECT IN TO ZOOM... HAVE YOU TRIED THAT? I WAS THINKING OF USING AN E.Q. OR EFFECT MIXED BETWEEN INSTRUMENT AND INTERFACE... HAVE YOU TRY THAT ? PLS REPLY IM REALLY INTERESTED OF GETTING ONE OF THIS ZOOM INTERFACE THANK YOU ... AND CAN YOU ALSO TELL ME THE DOWN SIDE COMPARE TO MID HIGH RANGE INTERFACE....

  • can u use other pedals when recording?

  • lets say i want to record drums, i mic da snare toms and bass. will each one of them be separated or will it all be mixed down together when i export it to my computer.

  • @iguala05 on your computer, providing you record the whole thing to the master track on the unit, you will have both the final mix all put together in stereo and you also be provided with each separate track. so basically yes you will.

  • would i be able to export the different tracks made with this machine separately to Cubase (or whatever DAW) ?

  • @GroovyGuitar02 and can i import a backing track on this ?

  • @GroovyGuitar02 You can place a backing track on an SD card, and assign it to a channel so, Yes.

  • @GroovyGuitar02 It records everything to an SD-Card, and when you connect it with your pc you can transfer the data. So yes, you can transfer te tracks seperatly to your PC.

  • @corfret1 Do I have to use Cubase in conjunction with this? Because I have Logic and personally prefer it over Cubase. Do I even need to use a software? Could I just use the R16 as a stand alone recorder

  • @Ajpforman The Zoom R16 is designed as a Stand-Alone recorder.

You get every track as a WAV. file. so track000.wav track001.wav and so on.. so you can use every software.

Using it as an interface will only give you 2 channels!!

  • kyle gas is the other guy of tenacious D.... great guy^^

may you can help me... I try to use the r16 as an audio interface... but it does not work ... i have 2 computers (vista 64 and XP) .... i wrote emails to Zoom, but they could not find the problem... maybe you have an idea, or can do a video, how to install it as an interface... thank you!

  • can you download the software to more than one computer and is there a limit? Please let me know

  • Your voice sounds like Kyle Gas.

  • Thanks for the demo. I'm thinking of getting one of these, and it was good to see it in action:-)

  • does it have a bass simulator effect?

  • @4321micro That's something I'd like to know too: Will it turn your guitar into a bass? Trying to get that answered, and same question for the V-Studio 100, as I'm considering both units. I know the 100 has software, where you can "program" a bass line by clicks n buttons. Forget that; I just want my git to sound like a bass--not fiddle with a mouse. Anyone know the answer? Tx

  • can u record drums with this?? and what input lead r u useing isit like a mic lead?

  • @samsung10101010 Yeah, my friend recorded my drums with them. They are pretty sick

  • @samsung10101010 im guessing he's using a jack lead

  • check out my recordings from the zoom r16! I love it! and had no problems yet!

  • isnt it better to buy a preamp and just use a music creation software to do your stuff?

  • I just bought this. but.. ehm.

    Where is part 2?

  • Ello,

Can you bounce two tracks onto one other track in one hit? For instance, I'd like to put my drum machine and rhythm guitar track down at the same time, say track one and two and then "bounce" those onto another track.

    Cheers

    Phil

  • I bought it a few months ago.. the best investment ever.... check my page so you can hear its sound... great piece of equipment.

  • Was that the actual units distortion and were you using the hi-z

  • I'm considering the r16, but after seeing how much messing around it takes to get a second track going, Im having second thoughts ... are you overall content with the built-in micros?

  • @Francologne Its actually not bad, its a little difficult in the beginning, but once you memorize what to press, etc, it becomes easy and almost second nature.

  • hey does the r16 record drums well? ive been thinking about buying it but i want good drum quality.

    thnx for the video anyway

  • @miniman155 They give sick quality. My friend recorded my band with these, turned out really sick. Amazing quality. He used cubase to record

  • VERY HELPFUL. Question: I read in the manual that you can modify the pre-set effects or create your own - which I want to do, because the pre-sets I have tried tend to be pretty flat (and often mid-rangey - needs more bottom end and usually more reverb). However I had a hard time figuring that out. Also - is there a way to listen to the tempo on the metronome BEFORE starting to record? I don't like setting it at 130 and then starting, realizing that's a bit too fast and having to reset.

  • this thing can function as recorder and audio interface. How good is it function as an audio interface?? latency 0?

  • I have never heard of Kyle Gas..... The manual is confusing, hence, I made this Video... The R-16 is a good Recorder...Don't forget to format your Cards!!!!

  • @corfret1 Kyle Gas is Jack Black's counterpart in the the Tenacious D duo.

  • @corfret1 If I have a zoom effects pedal can I use that directly into the R16 recorder and use my own pre-made effects?

  • is it me or does he sound like kyle gas?

  • @TheAcousticFrenzy No , you're right . He sounds exactly like him !

  • @TheAcousticFrenzy Look up the user "gearmanndude" if you want to hear a Jables sound-alike.

  • @TheAcousticFrenzy He does sound like Rage Kage.

  • Very cool...very helpful for a novice as the manual is so poorly written. Do you know of any tutorial that explains how to use the R16 with Cakewalk's Sonar? I'd love to see you do more tutorials. Much appreciated!

  • good vid

  • Buy it! This machine is awesome!!

  • I just bought one - thanks for the starting tip, are you going to do anothere tutorial showing mixes and how to use the effects for mix down - thanks keep it going man!!!

  • Note that while it has 8 XLR/Jack neutriks that takes both mic and line inputs, only track 1 has a Hi-Z switch - so only track 1 can record guitar/bass without some form of preamping.

Also only tracks 5+6 have phantom power, so only tracks 5+6 will record from condenser mics without some form of external powersource.

However there are 16 track of playback, so like he demonstrates here, you can record in 1 track, assign the file to another track and record a new file in the original track.

  • Please please please do more of these...I haven't got one yet but I will soon, and I'm wondering how complex things like, punch ins or like, undo'ing and what not..Thanks, sound quality is great.

  • Alright this is awesome, couple quick questions:

1.)Can it record drums, bass, and vocals

    And second.....

2.)How much is this just basic

  • It can record drums. you need a set of mic drums to mic each kit then each mic goes into a mic input in the R16 (it has 8) so usually drum mic kits comes with 7 mics, sometimes 5 and 6 too. you can use 5 mics so you still have 3 for guitars and vocals. - it goes for $399.99

  • @lbguitz2 hey how much are mic drums or just the mics?

  • Thanks for posting this. I'm considering buying the R16 soon and I'm really anxious.

  • I just bought the R 16 tonight im reading the book and watching videos to pick up some quick tips.I tried a practice track the sound is perfect im tryin to learn how to add the effect and record in stereo
