@10p6 I don't think twin hard drives with raid support is ever going to be available. I also think USB 3 is probably a big deal for you because the rpm of the hard drive is 5400. With 750gigs to go, I don't think you shall need more than one external hard drive. I will need to wikipedia widi, also I think they won't have a docking port anytime soon. If they keep the USB ports on the rut hand side, they will have to do away with the optical drive I guess. I recently read Steve jobs biography..
@Dude651984 More like found it easier to tolerate, especially when I found a USB 3.0 express card that works with both Windows & OS X. However I will not get a new one until apple includes:

It is amazing how much the above takes away from a MBP.

Why would someone buy an iMac if they need a portable Computer? Also, I agree that the issues which you have highlighted are quite significant in such an expensive laptop. How is the sound quality? Is the bass good? Could you please do a video where u play bassline music on it? 1 more thing? Are you English/from the UK? How come you speak of $ instead of £, sorry for the long post
@midtown292 The sound quality is not bad, but for the price it is not as good as I thought it would be. I was expecting the sound to be as good as the old Inspiron 9300 / 9400 but it's not. I will work on doing a video some time. I use pounds and dollars depending where I am. My MBP also lack a pound sign.
There are certainly some design issues - I have a 2006 17" model it also has the security lock in the middle RHS - however the DVD drive is on the front.

However, I have looked at Windows laptops - but there is nothing on the market that matches the size/weight/battery life combination. There is a lot of competition for the Air - but no one is bothering to compete on the 17" desktop replacement area - perhaps that is why it costs what it does....

Man, all I want is a laptop that is blazing fast with a great graphics card and great build quality, but either they cost a lot or I'm not researching to death. :(
What is the point on getting that lock for a laptop. Fair enough if it's for a working display in a shop or at a school or college to stop people stealing it. But in your house?
Your points were so valid and yet the fanbois on here are bitching about them. Apple get praised fro design and yet there is so much wrong with the design of this Laptop.
thanks for the unbiased review you highlighted points that the countless others don't talk about like the usb ports i was thinking of getting the mac pro 15" but your review highlighted issues i had over looked cheers.
It's still biased towards PC's, as you are a PC user. The only way to get an unbiased review is to let a person who was never used any computer before in their life to try it, and see what they say. It may be different, it may not.
can you do another review please, but this time compare it with the best PC laptop!
because it's easy to bash anything without a relative base point. Mac is shit, PC is better, but wheres the better PC? please name the better PC, which solves all your problems with the mac. and then go buy it.
and Apple products are designed by Jony Ive. and those designs are approved by Steve Jobs.
I wonder who designs at Dell, and who approves them as well. and wonder if they've changed our world.
Unless they don't put in a DVD drive altogether. As for blu-ray we all know why there isn't a blu-ray drive its called iTunes apple would much rather people use iTunes. That might not be whats best for consumers but that's their prerogative.
If you're going to compare the prices of PCs and macs and what features one has over the other and the PC wins then buy the PC and make a hakintosh. Don't hate all over a product that was never going to suit you're needs.
Secondly you said your display has a dead pixel. Well if I noticed a dead pixel I would get the device exchanged straight away that's why there are standard one year warranties on hardware. I will agree with you that the kensington lock position should be at the back of the laptop buts its not a big deal. As you the 2 batteries, cpu and gpu position the laptop is already huge how much bigger do you want it to be. also they cant put the gpu and cpu on different sides of the laptop.
Whilst I can appreciate an unbiased based opinion as it can help people make accurate decisions about what they should spend their money on I don't think you have made any impact on my decision making ability. Firstly you spent thousands of dollars on a product that was never going to make you happy. The technical specifications are always available. To not research the limitations of a product before buying it is always a costly mistake.
@mcconvilleme Know nothing about? I own a MBP and have owned numerous other Apple computers over the years. I know more than most about Apple products!
I think this is a fair review. People need to know the pros and the cons before buying anything. If you're looking for a good deal and the most bang for your buck, a macbook pro may not be the way to go. Good video.
your review is a whining complaint about how you didnt do the research before you bought a mac. go customize a pc and shut up. i dont even own a mac but i am buying one, just to throw at my old pc while its playing this stupid bitch session. now thats $2000 well spent.
your an idiot. the 17" has an express card slot not an sd card, you should have bought the 15" instead of being an idiot and whining about your more expensive macbook. apple will never use 3.0 or blu-ray stop whining. you can download and stream 1080p quality and blu-ray is sony owned. its been about 5 years and no blu-ray, time to move on.
@10p6 thats not what I mean, you said that your slots to tight to each other, when I look on my laptop I can't find the difference between the distance of the slots
@Wizzy959 Most notebooks have 2 USB close together, this is three. On top of that, they are also right next to the display port, Fire wire and Audio ports. So what ever way you look at it, may USB items will cover either another USB slot, Display Port or Audio Jacks.
When you did the demonstration with your notes.. you use mouse, when I use my mouse to drag something really slow, my hand start shaking, think about that..
Goddamn, you're a dumb idiot f*ck, the usb slots to close togehter? Watch your previously notebook, are your usb slots miles away from each other??? Come one! Go to your nearly shop, trade it for a dell..
@Wizzy959 Two Stacked USB on the Back, two on the right and two on the left. The were USB 2 too, and that was 6 years ago. So before you cuss, make sure you know the facts first. Now you are the fool!
I think that this is a fairly good review. It is not necesseraly positive, but all these problems are problems for the owner. And they are worth mentioning. I am thinking about such a machine as an upgrade candidate, but now I know the dark side of this option. In my opinion a good review for the sake of having an opinion that shows negative aspects. Thank you for sharing!
i have my new macbook pro 13'' for 2 weeks right now and this is my first macbook ever and i have non of your problems, so go back with your macbook and ask for a replacement .... problem solved
Unbiased??...wow we have a name for people like you; Debbie Downer. It could be a beautiful day outside and you'd complain about a cloud off in the distance or the grass not being green enough. I made the switch from PC to Mac a year and a half ago and it was the best move I made. Who cares if the "5" is brighter than the "6"...not all PC laptops even HAVE backlit keyboards.
You must be pissed off with the person that forced you to buy this computer mate. Imagine how happier you'd have been if you had bought something else after all the research you MUST have done prior to purchase.
1. I have this laptop, and I have none of the problems that you have, and I take perfectionist to the limits.
2. The optical drive is very rarely used and even if you do use it, then it is virtually no hassle to remove the Kensington Lock from the machine and put the disc in.
3. The fans are pointed towards the surface that the machine is placed on, so no hot air is going to be impacting the machine.
4. I have consulted the Apple guys 3 times and they all say that opening the case doesnt void it
@GrendelPL Potential new Mac users would see it as a review, current Mac fan boys seem to be obsessed with only Mac, and view Stove jobs as God even when he and apple do wrong!
If you call this unbiased, I would love to see you do an "unbiased" review of a few random Windows PC's. "I go here and-- ah! blue screen". "Let's go here and... Eh.. It froze..". "Let me show you this nice piece of softwa-- hey, where'd go?". "Oh, damn virus alerts!". Need I go on?
I am a bit curious since most of these things you could have discovered by checking the computer out in real life. Add to that watching and reading other user reviews. As per the specs, well they are well documented and should not come as a surprise.
I can agree on the closeness of the usb ports, but once again this is nothing you could not have found out on your own via photos.
The harddrive is a basic model. When you buy it (online) you can put in SSD if you want to. try iSkins.com.
@ProteusMega The video was a review which incorporated my observations. Yes I knew about the USB ports & kensington lock, but other issues should never have existed. Some things you cannot discover till you actually have hands on with that item (not a demo machine)
Unfortunately for me I live a long way from the closest apple store, and do not want to send it in till my Thunderbolt raid drive comes. At that time I will upgrade the drive to a fast SSD.
Basically......Its a matter of on opinion. The backlit keyboard should reduce the amount of light coming out of the sides. But I love my 13" macbook pro. All about opinions.
This review was although contrary, very biased.I'm never one to disrespect peoples right to an opinion but honestly this was ridiculous."The number 5key is brighter than others." really?! *sigh* I will, though, agree that 5400 RPM is terrible and due to some human and/or technical error some units come out worse than others but I'm sure that if you have been so very qualified enough, all your "ideas" will be in the next line-up and you can happily fire all those "idiot" apple employees.Disappoint
well... i have been using MACS for years and I never had any complains about it... btw, about ur complains about those docks, they are easily answered... just buy an extesion - that should do the trick!
I'd rather buy a MAC than buying a laptop made for WINDOWS cos, just think, you need to BUY LOTS OF THINGS TO MAKE IT WORK WELL like ANTI-VIRUSES, CPU BOOSTERS, REGISTRY CLEANERS and the long list goes on!!! wer in MAC u just need to buy extensions and wires to compensate for it's weaknesses...
It's like buying a Porsche and complaining about the small rear seats or the expensive repair parts. You either love Porsche for it's individual quirks, or you hate it. Just as you either love Macs for OSX and their superior hardware design, or you hate them.
I personally cannot use Windows without regurgitating, so I have little choice but to buy my (admittedly overpriced) Macs. But since you DON'T seem to appreciate OSX, you should have saved a grand and purchased an Alienware.
You can take apart the case and it will not void the warranty. The RAM and HDD are accessible from the bottom and they are user changeable parts. You sound like a bit of an idiot to be honest.
@jmcphee7 According to apple tech support, opening the case voids the warranty. I have used apple Mac's for years and know more about them than many 'apple fan-boys', but that does not make up for apple producing crap hardware.
@10p6 If you know more about them than many, why did you buy it? I'm sorry, you cannot honestly want to be taken seriously. The more you talk, the more you make yourself look a bit silly. If you don't like it that's fair enough, its subjective at the end of the day. As for the warranty, you are either telling untruths or you spoke to someone who lied to you. Removing the back case does not void the warranty. Read your literature and the support pages of apple.com.
Before spending all your money on this machine, you do think it would have been a good idea to do some research? There is nothing wrong with USB 2.0, there is nothing wrong with firewire. If you have a dead pixel, then go back to the store, im sure they would be happy to help you. You sound so patronising. Im sure Apple would love to hear this review, they may hire you. Or maybe not eh?.
@DerekEvanLand True I don't have much experience of the 17" MBP, but I have used Macs for years. It's a poorly produced, overpriced product, and Apple customer support is crap.
@10p6 The opposite is true for me - Every version of Windows, on multiple brands each time, and I still have a horrendous experience and customer support is entirely nonexistent. I've used Macs for years and never had a single problem.
That's beside the point, as the video is still one-sided. Unbiased is one thing, but it doesn't mean 'slanted the other way.' :)
Lol this guy really doesn't get it ay! Most people buy apple for there amazing OS not the uber quality and hardware build! Buddy, I think it's time you took back your Mac!
Man you have to stop F?@King hating on apple and deal with this crap or return it because you sound like a bitch ass scrub talking S!&T. That's all I'm asking FAGOt.
(Continued). You call this a "REAL, and UNBIASED" review. You have many interesting comments which Compare very bias reviews with Apple products. You need to check the meaning of Unbiased, sir. You also should check your facts. Some of your comments were smart, while others made you seem a bit unprepared, unknowledgeable, and ill prepared to defend or back up your info. Before stating something, I ask that you do your homework. Thanks. I could tell you nightmares about my PC experiences
They knew that you're a fucking asshole and gave you the worst Macbook pro they had in the store. They thought: " oh, we'll give it to that asshole instead of throwing it to the rubbish" hahaha If you love PC's, why do you have this superior machine on your hands? Buy a fuking PC and SHUT THE FUCK UP!
You're tech savvy. You knew the limitations but you still bought it: USB, DVD port, firewire, battery placement, kensington lock, docking abilities, etc.
Some problems couldn't have been foreseen before purchase, and it should not be acceptable for a $2500 machine. You're right.
You should sell this machine in CL or eBay and get a computer that's right for you.
I find it quite hilarious that the moment someone is critical of something everyone else loves, everyone jumps all over them. You know that kissing Apple's ass doesn't help them, right? The only way to help them is by letting them know what's wrong with their product... not acting like an ignorant ass and telling them everything is fucking fabulous. The fact that it doesn't have USB 3.0 isn't his opinion, it's a fact. There isn't really much "opinion" in this review to get upset about.
Why did you buy a Mac. You clearly have a bias towards it. With all your "suggestions" it's a wonder you didn't buy a PC windows machine. It would've saved you a whole lot of heartache. Bad decision and move on your part.
BUY A BLU RAY DRIVE THEN IF YOU WANT ONE SO MUCH!!! MOST PEOPLE DONT USE THEM, THE DISKS TO WRITE TO ARE EXPENSIVE AND IF YOU HAVE A PS3 U ALL READY HAVE A PLAYER BUT U WILL HAVE A XBOX COS UR A BILL GATES FAN BOY
"As a PC USER, this review is an UNBIASED and apple unpolished" please not the words unbiased and PC User OF COURSE YOU ARE GOING TO BE BIASED YOU FUCKIN NOB!
@minameisjake Here is another comment from an apple fan boy who cannot stand the truth. So sad when they get to being so crude to defend pathetic apple products.
@minameisjake I have an 2 year old Macbook pro, 17" 2.8GHz, and I don't have any these issues, and i'm no fanboy. I also like PC's, and I don't have any bias. Your issue with the mouse happens when you use a separate mouse, but not when you use your fingers on the trackpad. I have that issue when using USB laser mouses only. Your PC bias to me is just as bad, if not worse than Mac fanboy bias. I think it is interesting since PC's in general don't last long, and you can check those FACTS!
@alpenrausch11 I am complaining about numerous problems on a system that apple advertises as it's flagship. It is so sad that so many apple fans support this crap computer. Do they not know anything better?
@jrlcgmx It really depends on how much Mac Software you need to run, and do you need a 'potentially' high spec machine. In my case I am thinking of getting a Mac Mini or MacBook Air, and something like a Dell XPS 15z After that, I will still be able to run my Mac and PC software, and have a lot of change left over.
You fucking shithead! You're complaining about everything! It only had 3 usb ports, the kesington lock bla bla, this or that doesn't work (it isn't a windows pc, so go and search why it doesn't work! Mayby it's you who can't work with a mac). You're review is just..stupid!. Most people buy a computer without there eyes closed. I'm gonna buy a macbook for 2500 dollars, and I don't know anything about it. If you had looked up some info about a mac you would've known that it's nothing for you!
@MrStijngevaert Wow. You have a brand new Youtube account with no other views, posts, comments or anything. You have such a foul mouth and claim to be from Belgium, amazing. You must work for apple!
And no PC has EVER been close to touching the battery life of a MBP. MBP comes standard with 1333mhz Ram where the PC standard is either 800 or 1066 mhz. Overakk the MBP is better in every way and you have to pay for quality. Study computer science and be more than a basic user and you will understand why MBP is worth the money. Until then you are just an ignorant wannabe computer know it all.
@adamlaskey Dell, HP and more offer units with as fast ram, and faster CPU and GPU's. Did you not watch the video, the quality is crap. Actually, the 2011 MBP has been reported as having poort build quality in several official reviews.
Dude your an idiot. Windows doesnt operate as smoothly as UNIX its been that way forever its just a fact. The battery in a mac lasts 3 years and is not difficult to replace, whereas a PC battery lasts 1 year and costs 200 to replace. Most Pc's dont come with 1080p resolution. MBP is running the new ATI 6000 series with 1GB DDR5. You have to pay at least 100 to upgrade to it in a PC. The webcams in PC's are shit. Most pc's dont have the 2nd gen i7.
@adamlaskey Check out the OSX update video for smoothness. Win 7 on this same machine actually scores about 25% higher than OSX. My MBP is on it's 7th Charge cycle and it is a month old, and it has never even been used on battery, so you do the math. My Tablet PC stil gets 4 hours on a 'removable battery' and that is 5 years old. Numerous PC's offer webcams equal to, or higher than the MBP. As for the i7, it's only as good as the weakest link, in this case that would be apple!
Send it back to the people who sold it to you. What's the problem with the retailer? You did buy it right? Name the retailer so the rest of us know to avoid them. Buy a mac mini, small, light and you can run your few mac apps on it. Best of all get any display and put with it, since that 1 pixel is so noticeable to you. 699 or so. Or just buy a pc and forget about the few mac apps. There is probably a Windows version or close to it. It's just a tool to get work done. It's ok not to like it.
@gdotone1 I bought it brand new sealed from someone who bought it from apple, but then they needed the money, so I paid to dollar for it from them. When I called apple, they said 38 days of the warranty had elapsed as they go by the sale date, and not the registered date.
I would use a PC, but this app was custom made for me, and unfortunately only works on Mac.
I agree with you about the dead pixel. Apple, an arguably "luxury computer" company (Based on the prices for their products in comparison to other manufacturers) does boast quality and precision. A dead pixel is definetely something that needs to be taken care of.
And that's why Apple gives you a one year warranty.
This guy is just bashing apple because he is a pc lover. He complains about the hard drive being slow but apple gives you a choice of a 750gb 5400 rpm drive, a 500gb 7200rpm hard drive (at the same price as the 5400 rpm drive), or various solid state drives. No one can argue that this is the fastest, most pristinely manufactured notebook on the market, or in history. Name one pc notebook that's better. ( I dare you to say alienware or dell xps)
@CDZONE6 Welcome apple fanboy. At the moment a $500 Toshiba from Walmart would be better and contain a faster 5400 rpm drive than the standard MBP crap.
I am curious how much you think someone should spend on a Mac to get a decent spec, if you have to upgrade the drive and ram to get a PC equivalent. An equivalent PC costs nowhere the $3K you suggest. And don't say "MBP's have a unibody case!' The case is crap, and takes more energy to produce than a plastic injection mold.
@10p6 Find a pc laptop with the same specs, same sized screen, same quad core processor, same screen resolution, same features, and a thunderbolt port for under 3 grand. Oh wait, you can't because they don't exist. This is the fastest laptop on the market right now, with the most features, and it still costs less than most pc laptops with specs even coming close to it. And yet you complain about the price of performance? You are a mac basher to your core.
@CDZONE6 Hey everyone. This is a typical Mac user. Say something that they don't like about a Mac and they block you. How babyish is that? You can find numerous PC's with the same or similar or more powerful spec for much less. Nice to see that you care about a Thunderbolt port that you can buy nothing for, yet USB 3.0 which is much more available,
@Leo012345 The one pixel wont, but my review is not finished. Did you know that on this quad core i7 with fast GPU, the graphics on simple flash games like Zuma clash and disrupt like crazy. Their is more too, but as my lawyer is getting ready to contact apple, I have to keep some things private for now unfortunately.
@Leo012345 I have been notified by 8 people up to now that they have decided not to buy a MBP after seing this. That is $20K in lost sales. It is not a whole lot, but t's a start.
When a dead black pixel is displayed on a bright white screen, it shows up very clearly, especially when it is in a part that generally has no text or other graphics.
If you are not satisfied with your purchase for whatever reasons, you can return the product back to apple with no charge at all

can you do another review please, but this time compare it with the best PC laptop!
because it's easy to bash anything without a relative base point.

Why don't you just go and get it replaced, they will most likely give you a brand new laptop.
TheMasterofganja 5 months ago
@TheMasterofganja They would fix the problems or replace it. My issue is not with that, but the ordeal of everything I mentioned.
10p6 5 months ago
Unless they don't put in a DVD drive altogether. As for blu-ray we all know why there isn't a blu-ray drive its called iTunes apple would much rather people use iTunes. That might not be whats best for consumers but that's their prerogative.
If you're going to compare the prices of PCs and macs and what features one has over the other and the PC wins then buy the PC and make a hakintosh. Don't hate all over a product that was never going to suit you're needs.
GAZMAN2002 5 months ago
Secondly you said your display has a dead pixel. Well if I noticed a dead pixel I would get the device exchanged straight away that's why there are standard one year warranties on hardware. I will agree with you that the kensington lock position should be at the back of the laptop buts its not a big deal. As you the 2 batteries, cpu and gpu position the laptop is already huge how much bigger do you want it to be. also they cant put the gpu and cpu on different sides of the laptop.
GAZMAN2002 5 months ago
Whilst I can appreciate an unbiased based opinion as it can help people make accurate decisions about what they should spend their money on I don't think you have made any impact on my decision making ability. Firstly you spent thousands of dollars on a product that was never going to make you happy. The technical specifications are always available. To not research the limitations of a product before buying it is always a costly mistake.

I think this is a fair review. People need to know the pros and the cons before buying anything. If you're looking for a good deal and the most bang for your buck, a macbook pro may not be the way to go. Good video.
kalikutie1985 6 months ago
your review is a whining complaint about how you didnt do the research before you bought a mac. go customize a pc and shut up. i dont even own a mac but i am buying one, just to throw at my old pc while its playing this stupid bitch session. now thats $2000 well spent.
bdodds1985 6 months ago
your an idiot. the 17" has an express card slot not an sd card, you should have bought the 15" instead of being an idiot and whining about your more expensive macbook. apple will never use 3.0 or blu-ray stop whining. you can download and stream 1080p quality and blu-ray is sony owned. its been about 5 years and no blu-ray, time to move on.

Wizzy959 6 months ago
@Wizzy959 Most notebooks have 2 USB close together, this is three. On top of that, they are also right next to the display port, Fire wire and Audio ports. So what ever way you look at it, may USB items will cover either another USB slot, Display Port or Audio Jacks.

I made the switch from PC to Mac a year and a half ago and it was the best move I made. Who cares if the "5" is brighter than the "6"...not all PC laptops even HAVE backlit keyboards.

DjVinnie91 7 months ago
I am a bit curious since most of these things you could have discovered by checking the computer out in real life. Add to that watching and reading other user reviews. As per the specs, well they are well documented and should not come as a surprise.
I can agree on the closeness of the usb ports, but once again this is nothing you could not have found out on your own via photos.
The harddrive is a basic model. When you buy it (online) you can put in SSD if you want to. try iSkins.com.
ProteusMega 7 months ago
@ProteusMega The video was a review which incorporated my observations. Yes I knew about the USB ports & kensington lock, but other issues should never have existed. Some things you cannot discover till you actually have hands on with that item (not a demo machine)
Unfortunately for me I live a long way from the closest apple store, and do not want to send it in till my Thunderbolt raid drive comes. At that time I will upgrade the drive to a fast SSD.
10p6 7 months ago

I'd rather buy a MAC than buying a laptop made for WINDOWS cos, just think, you need to BUY LOTS OF THINGS TO MAKE IT WORK WELL like ANTI-VIRUSES, CPU BOOSTERS, REGISTRY CLEANERS and the long list goes on!!! wer in MAC u just need to buy extensions and wires to compensate for it's weaknesses...
ralphpernites0531 7 months ago
It's like buying a Porsche and complaining about the small rear seats or the expensive repair parts. You either love Porsche for it's individual quirks, or you hate it. Just as you either love Macs for OSX and their superior hardware design, or you hate them.
I personally cannot use Windows without regurgitating, so I have little choice but to buy my (admittedly overpriced) Macs. But since you DON'T seem to appreciate OSX, you should have saved a grand and purchased an Alienware.
Poler777 7 months ago
If your delivered unit has a dead pixel in its display, just call Apple support, and they'll arrange for you to get a replacment.
dbr712 7 months ago
You can take apart the case and it will not void the warranty. The RAM and HDD are accessible from the bottom and they are user changeable parts. You sound like a bit of an idiot to be honest.
jmcphee7 7 months ago
@jmcphee7 According to apple tech support, opening the case voids the warranty. I have used apple Mac's for years and know more about them than many 'apple fan-boys', but that does not make up for apple producing crap hardware.
10p6 7 months ago
@10p6 If you know more about them than many, why did you buy it? I'm sorry, you cannot honestly want to be taken seriously. The more you talk, the more you make yourself look a bit silly. If you don't like it that's fair enough, its subjective at the end of the day. As for the warranty, you are either telling untruths or you spoke to someone who lied to you. Removing the back case does not void the warranty. Read your literature and the support pages of apple.com.

@jrlcgmx It really depends on how much Mac Software you need to run, and do you need a 'potentially' high spec machine. Until then you are just an ignorant wannabe computer know it all.
adamlaskey 9 months ago
@adamlaskey Dell, HP and more offer units with as fast ram, and faster CPU and GPU's. Did you not watch the video, the quality is crap. Actually, the 2011 MBP has been reported as having poort build quality in several official reviews.
10p6 9 months ago
Dude your an idiot. Windows doesnt operate as smoothly as UNIX its been that way forever its just a fact. The battery in a mac lasts 3 years and is not difficult to replace, whereas a PC battery lasts 1 year and costs 200 to replace. Most Pc's dont come with 1080p resolution. MBP is running the new ATI 6000 series with 1GB DDR5. You have to pay at least 100 to upgrade to it in a PC. The webcams in PC's are shit. Most pc's dont have the 2nd gen i7.
adamlaskey 9 months ago
@adamlaskey Check out the OSX update video for smoothness. Win 7 on this same machine actually scores about 25% higher than OSX. My MBP is on it's 7th Charge cycle and it is a month old, and it has never even been used on battery, so you do the math. My Tablet PC stil gets 4 hours on a 'removable battery' and that is 5 years old. Numerous PC's offer webcams equal to, or higher than the MBP. As for the i7, it's only as good as the weakest link, in this case that would be apple!
10p6 9 months ago
Send it back to the people who sold it to you. What's the problem with the retailer? You did buy it right? Name the retailer so the rest of us know to avoid them. Buy a mac mini, small, light and you can run your few mac apps on it. Best of all get any display and put with it, since that 1 pixel is so noticeable to you. 699 or so. Or just buy a pc and forget about the few mac apps. There is probably a Windows version or close to it. It's just a tool to get work done. It's ok not to like it.
gdotone1 9 months ago
@gdotone1 I bought it brand new sealed from someone who bought it from apple, but then they needed the money, so I paid to dollar for it from them. When I called apple, they said 38 days of the warranty had elapsed as they go by the sale date, and not the registered date.
I would use a PC, but this app was custom made for me, and unfortunately only works on Mac.
10p6 9 months ago
I agree with you about the dead pixel. Apple, an arguably "luxury computer" company (Based on the prices for their products in comparison to other manufacturers) does boast quality and precision. A dead pixel is definetely something that needs to be taken care of.
And that's why Apple gives you a one year warranty.
djpablito 9 months ago

This guy is just bashing apple because he is a pc lover. He complains about the hard drive being slow but apple gives you a choice of a 750gb 5400 rpm drive, a 500gb 7200rpm hard drive (at the same price as the 5400 rpm drive), or various solid state drives. No one can argue that this is the fastest, most pristinely manufactured notebook on the market, or in history. Name one pc notebook that's better. ( I dare you to say alienware or dell xps)
CDZONE6 9 months ago
@CDZONE6 Welcome apple fanboy. At the moment a $500 Toshiba from Walmart would be better and contain a faster 5400 rpm drive than the standard MBP crap.
I am curious how much you think someone should spend on a Mac to get a decent spec, if you have to upgrade the drive and ram to get a PC equivalent. An equivalent PC costs nowhere the $3K you suggest. And don't say "MBP's have a unibody case!' The case is crap, and takes more energy to produce than a plastic injection mold.
10p6 9 months ago
@10p6 Find a pc laptop with the same specs, same sized screen, same quad core processor, same screen resolution, same features, and a thunderbolt port for under 3 grand. Oh wait, you can't because they don't exist. This is the fastest laptop on the market right now, with the most features, and it still costs less than most pc laptops with specs even coming close to it. And yet you complain about the price of performance? You are a mac basher to your core.
CDZONE6 9 months ago
@CDZONE6 Hey everyone. This is a typical Mac user. Say something that they don't like about a Mac and they block you. How babyish is that? You can find numerous PC's with the same or similar or more powerful spec for much less. Nice to see that you care about a Thunderbolt port that you can buy nothing for, yet USB 3.0 which is much more available,
