  • I've noticed alot of western cities have chinatowns in them but do you ever see britain towns in china and other parts of asia. I haven't heard of any british or westerns towns in parts of asia.

  • I agree with his opinion on Mr Woos. Maybe it is a fiver for the buffet but you get what you pay for and it is not very good.

  • Where is the Fake Market in Chinatown??

  • thanks you helped me with my homework =D

  • Wong Kei - the worst Chinese food in the world!!!!

It is my favourite restaurant anywhere in the world!!!! And I have travelled around a bit (see my channel)!!

  • @alanheath My favourite restaurant too!

  • @TClementsUK1 I am really loyal - I could not imagine going anywhere else now! Although he does give some ideas where else to go!

  • @alanheath What's your favourite Wong Kei dish? Mine used to be char siu pork and rice, but I just had the yau nam (beef brisket) noodle soup, and boy, was it awesome!

  • @TClementsUK1 Chow ho fun with beef in black bean sauce. I have been going there since 1984 (when it cost GBP1.60) and it tastes just the same. When I was a student a group of us would go there every Friday night and take the set menu - I am rarely there with more than one person these days - sometimes I even go by myself when in London.

  • That is a brilliant review!! I can't think of other ways of describing it!!

  • Bad teeth = Chinese and English. LOL

  • are there chinatowns in china?

  • @solexhn HUH ha ha everytown in china is china towns ha ha

  • massage is healthy, but most of the Chinese massage places in London employ unprofessional, uneducated girls with no knowledge of spoken English. I have had a bad, really bad experience many times, and I could not get my money back. I do not mind the money, but the girls have treated me so badly. One had the longest nails I had ever seen, and they refused to change her.. I withrew within 5 minutes. Another case, the girl hurt my injured back so badly just because she did not understand English

  • do you know what that massage shop is in china town near little wu buffet there is a woman standing outside the massage shop with lots of make up.? if you know what the place is tell me

  • basically theyre all rubbish? lmao

  • That was helpfull thank you

  • If you dont mind me asking, do these restaurnts sell cat meat and dog meat discretely

  • went there today found it boring not much to do there other than eat

  • the way u called so many restaurants rubbish was hilarious xD

  • 6:07 LOL

  • Cool, A lot of rubbish places, but thanks for the Advices, I should do the same for the italian resturants! :)

  • Thanks your detailed analyses of the chinese restaurants in London. If you don't like the food served in any of them, you shouldn't said that the food were RUBBISH or AVOID IT LIKE A PLAGUE because if I were the owners of those restaurants I would be pissed off by you. You should have said you didn't like them but let the viewers make up their minds. Other than that, you did a good job.

  • Would you happen to know how to pronounce Gerrard street (the one in chinatown)?

  • Isnt Kwai cantonese for Laowai??

  • I was in London back in '93.I was there for about 3 weeks,& fancied some Chinese food.I was walking around Soho& saw this little hole in the wall.I looked at the menu(which at time seemed outrageously expensive) but I decided to give it a go.I ordered prawns in blackbean sauce(my favourite)&I didnt expect much(esp since I live near Vancouver which has some of the best Chinese food in the world.) To my surprise, it was the best prawns/blackbean sauce I have had in my life. Dont judge a book etc.

  • That's my van on the right at 3:44 lol

  • "The worst Chinese food in THE WORLD" Hahaha. Love it.

  • So basically there is nowhere to eat in Chinatown

  • I went to Ikkyusann while in london, the food was ok, we got some bento boxes, its definitely not my favourite japanese restauraunt, only if i had seen this video first!

  • Nice to know after I ate in London ChinatownXD

Aah well I enjoyed it. Besides the food(very good explained all of em:) )

I really wanted a suit Bruce Lee wore in his movies and more martial arts stuff but couldnt really find it. Can you give me more advice on that for when I visit London again?

  • @ErdalEyican

yeah, there is a martial arts shop near the leicester square tube station end of chinatown. they should have bruce lee stuff. if not iam sure they can order it for you.

  • @fonzi0was0cool

    Cool:D Next time that's a place i wont miss(Y)

    Thank you for the information.

  • You must eat out alot... anyway, good vid, very informative.

  • FAVED. This is priceless, thanks.

  • Chinese people are cool

  • You know, the funny thing here is that I watched this on a whim. The bad thing is that we had decided to go to Wong Key for our chinese meal -.-;; ( every visit to London we have a Chinese night)..ugh, there really is a lot of bad restaurants isn't there?

  • Interesting video, mate. Just hope none of those triads recognize your face having called everything rubbish, lol!

  • @Badsellcut I agree, but my view is this; if they find insult, they should improve their service instead of slamming our critique in our faces..After all, the customer's always right! :)

  • Kwaichi, I love your videos but Wong-Kei is FANTASTIC (yes, they're rude but the food is great and very affordable).

  • @FlavioSousa35

you probably ate on a good day.

  • And he found my size, and i picked red with dragons on, now im really happy!!

  • I just came back from London... I also went to Chinatown in Lecister Square. I was soo happy! Because im upsessed with Chinatown, and whenever I see a Chinaman im even happier!! At the market, I bought a lamp shade, which is going up in my bedroom. And I looked at the Chinese dresses, and there were none in my size! I was soo upset. Because I had wanted one for ages. And the next day, my mum said "whats that?" and there was like, a stack of Chinese dresses. We got the owner of the shop

  • eeek thank u im gong there i a few weeks ;D cant waiit <3

  • @princesspanda01 have fun! :)

  • all i know that they keep the prices high for the food and pay the workers just £ 2 to 3 pounds an hour and that is Millon % sure which is sick, china town should get closed down they are really bogus

  • @bevan5444 prices are higher than they used to be but are pretty good compared to most other restaurants around london.

  • Do you any reputable Chinese herbs stores in London..?

    ThanX

  • @ismaelovic71 There used to be some great places but they've all changed ownership or closed down now. There are a lot of small chains opening up which are a little bit dodgy with chinese doctors on hand to give expert advice... in chinese.... not to helpful to have to rely on a translator with little medical knowledge.

  • @kwaichi Oh, thats sad, they say London is one of the greatest cities in the world...I dunno abt that, maybe for night life..But if they don't even have a decent herbs store..That just sums it for me, even Liverpool has one famous chinatown..anyways thank you for the reply..{bless}

  • Hey, thanks for that. I live in London and got tired of spending all my money trying to figure out which places were good. This was really helpful =]

  • @casadejoey no problems :)

  • ARe there really that many shit restaurants in China town? I expect the presenter has a slight bias against mainland style food. Am I right? On balance which restaurant does the best Beijing style duck? Similar to the best duck restaurants in Beijing, for example 全聚德?

Otherwise very well informed and helpful, thank you.

  • @genericusername555 I have a slight bias toward hong kong style food but hardly anywhere will make proper beijing style duck in chinatown.

  • Being too blunt about the quality of the restaurants!

  • @MickCorgi lolz. the video is probably not popular enough :)

  • It's very helpful. But I'm a little concerned about you. I hope you're not dead yet.

Perhaps, it's the good side of British tradition, that you don't take criticisms too serious but just reply back with sarcasm.

  • @MickCorgi why would i be dead?

  • Thank you very much.

I red that HK Dinner and Golden Dragon were the best, but I will be in London just one day on August, and I will try to go to Aroma, as you recommend.

And what´s the best place to get some strange asian fruits like durian, salaka...? I guess it sould be easier in Chinatown than in Harrods, don´t you thing?

  • @izarob absolutely right. most people shop at see woo in chinatown for asian stuff :)

  • Thank you very much for the feedback :)

  • I think I'm gonna have to try Aroma. HK Diner sounds interesting too.

  • Good choices :)

  • good judgement. it tends to be 90% of rubbish places over there, which is certainly true

  • thank you very much :) Someone with some active tastebuds!

  • My top five Chinatown restaurants:

    1. Aroma

    2. Imperial China

    3. New China

    4. Wong Kei

    5. HK Diner

  • the list is ok apart from #4 imo

  • :-) I thought you might not like #4

It's food at Wong Kei isn't the best, but just the energy and drama of the place makes it worth a visit.

    Upstairs Downstairs!

  • lolz. The directions are pretty direct :)

  • Aren't you afraid, after describing as "rubish" all those places, that Chinese mafia will find you and kill you? :D

    Just kidding.

Any recommendation on a decent hostel near the city center in London? Thanks in advance.

  • Well it's been 3 years and I'm still around :) I don't think there are any decent hostels in central London. You're better off looking on the outskirts.

  • This is one of the most helpful videos I've seen in a while! I'm visiting London in March and already making notes where to eat from your vid :) Thanks a lot! ^^

  • No problem :)

  • chinatown is so colourful at the new year!!

  • it sure is!

  • Hey im tkaing my girlfriend to chinatown this thursday, i havent planned it well:S

could you please tell me the best oriental resturant i could go eat at and the prices i may have to pay for 2 of us

  • try the london eating website for recommendations :)

  • we had a lovely meal in Lido....... it was yummy - and reasonably priced!! we spent New Year in London...... would recommend this one.!

  • thanks for the feedback :)

  • Wong Kee is better :D

  • you're killing me lolz :)

  • Hey, right now i'm just browsing through all your london videos as i'm going there in febuary. I'm going to visit chinatown so is there a cheap place you would recommend that's still there? (seeing as you say this is out of date =P) Thanks

  • HK Diner on Wardour Street is cheap and cheerful although their food is a little inconsistent. For good lunch time dim sum go to Imperial China on Lisle Street

  • Thank you very much!

  • no problems. Have a great xmas & new year :)

  • Have happy new year too and i hope you had a merry xmas :)

  • xmas was great thanks :) how was yours?

  • Great video!! I think you should do a 2009 updated version with your unique insight. Chinatown is ace but like you said, there are some proper shite places.

  • Yeah this vid is well out of date. Half the places have changed name and a few more have changed management since.

  • I don't know how you can say Wong Kei is awful, I really like the Cold BBQ Pork on rice and the other wonderfully cheap plates of food plus the complimentary tea. Which restaurant would you recommend the most for Cantonese meals and dim sum? Also, you missed 'Bao Zi', the restaurant specialising in Northern Chinese cuisine, the dumpling take out spots at the bottom and the fact that Jen Cafe has the best Beijing style dumplings in Chinatown!

  • I'm not really into Beijing Dumplings. I don't like that sour vinegar feeling. Wong Kei is still rubbish imo.

  • Too bad you don't have vids on prague. I'm going there in march!

  • the database of places to visit is growing pretty fast :)

  • Chinatown is decent. One of the few places I could get green tea.

  • try japan centre on picadilly for fine green teas. oh you can just go online to their online store

  • I went there and they're green tea rocks!

  • cool :)

  • I agree with most of it, apart from when you said that CCK was rubbish (that buffet type thing where they have that dragon on a pole thing), i used to love their deep-fried chilli prawns. Shame they've moved, to somewhere around london bridge. they were never good enough to follow all the way to london bridge. I did like Aroma tho

  • i couldn't have been the only one then :)

  • Four Seasons is the best restaurant in Chinatown, they do the best roast duck.

    lol at won kei's.

  • fair enough. I'll have to go check it out

  • Nice! Thanks for the tip! :D

I'll be going to chinatown for my birthday next wednesday ^____^v

  • how was it?

  • It was fun~! Thank you for asking. Took loads of pictures ^-^v

  • Cant belive that you called Crispy Duck rubbish! Im eating there once a year, when im in London god i love it ! o;

  • maybe try one of the ones i recommended and see the difference.

  • I will do that so, but amazing work you are doing! Love all the videos of london d;

  • omg silly me!!

I dident mean "Crispy Duck" but that duck place where you sayd was good if you like duck, you didnet say the name of it and you called it "Normal".

Btw Mr Kong is really nice too!

    Cheers!

  • Santos i hope all ur children will have small dicks.....including the girls!!!

  • wow! harsh...

  • some of the things that go on in china are unbelievable

  • I am ABC, which stands for American born chinese.

  • easy as 123

  • wong kei the one u mentioned which is the worst

  • it certainly is

  • wong kei* the one that u said is rubbish(he is one of the owners) but i have never been there

  • you should try it

  • wow u have been to nearly all of the restaurants there...thanks this is useful..btw the restaurant wong kee that u said was rubbish is actually owned by my mums relative.

  • fair enough

  • dude, really good of you to give the rundown, but where are the good places? I think dim sum at lido and crispy duck is pretty good.

  • imperial china is really good

  • I was just wondering Kwaichi, are you British and Chinese?

  • yes i am :) check out my channel and you can learn all about me :)

  • ....don't worry bout Santoshmbbs,he talks tough but hes angry cos he aint got a life and probably sits at home in front of the computer all day trying to get a comment.Saddddo!!!!!

  • I'm not worried at all. Thanks for your support :)

  • plz do another one of the whole of chinatown theres alot of shops on shaftesbury avenue and wear h.k de cafe is

  • i will do

  • Kya, English accent is damn hot, haha ^^

Chinatown there looks so cool. I'd love to go there sometime.

  • Im moving near there soon!

  • lool:D alright :P

  • wow nice vid i wish was in hd

  • i made new ones in 1080p which will be in a cinema near you later this year

  • Haha, wonderful rundown of the area. I went to London thursday through sunday this week. I wanted to eat at that Golden Pagoda place, but it seemed to be full all the time, so I guess it's good.

  • you racist bastard, my friend from china.

  • ru feeling ok?

  • did I say I was chinese? No, I said my friend was. Read my comment properly. Why are you racist you fucking bitch? I hurt you.

  • Well I have my own reasons upon why i hate Chinese stuff... You dint hurt me anyway.... Go Fuck some body rather than commenting on bullshit on youtube....

  • Comment removed

  • I'm watching this from Chinatown, San Francisco where I live. I think the Chinese resturants here in S.F are just amazing.

  • You should do more of these London tours, kwaichi, it's very interesting stuff.

  • I wish somebody would compare the NYC Chinatown restaurants with the Chinatown in London.

  • the only Chinatown that matters that I've found is Chinatown San Francisco....so I'd start your comparisons there. And then head to NYC and London.

  • my word, stop running down china town, you hate more of the restaurants than you love them, i will now avoid china town, and by the way when your drunk and english all cinese food taste the same basically.

  • thanks for doing this video.i havent been to china town and i am going to london tommorow and going to visit china town.

  • ALOT of ppl from hong Kong live in Londons Chinatown i believe.

  • cheers mate! golden pagoda best choise..absolutely!! crazy chinese food.lol

  • picky eater thats all he is..!!

  • rofl ive been to that restraunt that you said was pants... and it was. lol

  • thx for recomendations going to london today :D

  • Are there any good Shops in Englands Chinatown?

  • i was doing my work experience near chinatown and i went to Golden Pagoda. the food was ok. i went to Golden Gate the cakes are very nice there.

  • omg CHInese with british accent :D cool :D

  • hey kwaichi, when i was 6 or 7 i went to Loon Tao with my dad. i liked the lemon chicken and prawn crackers. Chinatown 4 ever!

  • Great helpful video thankyou. Visiting London soon from Cambridge so have a fair idea of where to go for some Chinese food. Last time I went with a load of friends we had a problem deciding where to go because there are SO MANY crap diners in the main strip of Chinatown! We went to Aroma and youre right it was VERY good.

  • haha its not nice pointing to restuarants and saying they're rubbish with ppl lineing up right in front of them! lol

  • does anyone know what cakes u can buy in golden gate?

  • chinese cakes like char siu bau.

  • i have a question. does anyone know what the street parallel to the main strip is called?

  • shaftsbury avenue

  • the sad truth is. i've been 2 Chinatown but never eaten at any of the restaurants there!

  • oh wait i've been to one restaurant bu i forgot what it was called. Apparently they do good chow mein there kwaichi.

  • hahah thanks, i went to Wong Kei for my birthday on december adn i agree it was crap!..the waiters were rude...and my food was a bit too watery..but apart from that..my bday was good coz i watched Blue man group in theatre! haha

  • More great advise on restaurants in London! There is a cake shop you didn't mention, called "Golden Gate" something... I always thought that place was quite nice. There are so many awful places to eat though, I ate at a Chinese buffet place in Greenwich recently, and it was truely awful, the food looked like it was cooked a week ago... might have been Vietnamese, but eh, most of their customers don't know the difference.

  • golden gate is where i buy my cakes

  • Cool! I go there every time I go into central London

  • are you coming tommorow to the gathering?

  • What cakes do they sell?

  • This is the king of rubbish places! lol do you know the legend of wonkies. when they opened in the earlt 1970s they had the best food made from fresh products and imaculate survice. But no one came! And they were loosing money. one night good came to visit the manager in his sleep and told him to treat his customers like shit. They have been going strong for over three decades! That is the legend!

  • hah lol! I'll remember that story!

  • I was there in August. The style in the way food is presented to you is different. I was lucky I can speak Cantonese.

I loved Oxford Circus. The shopping was amazing.

  • They're quite rude at those buffet places, they practically rip the plates off you the moment you've finished. So, Aroma is a good one, is it?

  • i went to aroma last night for chinese new year. IT's great! It's not overcrowded like most in chinatown & very good value for money. I recommend the seafood especially the lobster for starters. The set menus work out more expensive than ordering separately.

  • thanks for that video I like it happy chinese new year for tommorow

  • it's chinese new year today! gung hai fat choi!

  • Happy New Year of the pig Kwai and Kazzart!

  • gung hay fat choi

  • gung hay fat choi!! gung hay fat choi!! ^_^

  • Oh!! I went to London last summer as a treat for my girlfriend (shes from germany, im from near manchester), and we asked my uncle (who lives in surrey) where to go in Chinatown, and he said "wong keis", but it was TERRIBLE, it was like a run down cafe with bad food and bad waiters.

Where would you recommend, for a nice atmosphere, okayish price, and good food, that will be nice to non-chinese people?
