  • sorry to put out a negative comment towards this loco. she isnt beautiful in my mind. i find the maine 2fters and D&RDW engines more attractive

  • well this locomotive was originally made for a narrow gauge track of 24" or 36", but when this museum acquired it they converted it to standard gauge to operate on their tracks.

That is why it looks a rugged.

  • correction......originally built in 1873 at 49inch gauge. loco burned with several others in1887 in roundhouse fire, rebuilt in 1909/1910 by calumet & hecla and converted to standard gauge at that time

  • THATS A WEIRD LOOKEN LOCO

  • Correction, it's a beautiful locomotive.

  • @SantaFe158 Yep, and she is the more beautiful of the 2 locomotives. Edison lost some of her beauty when they pulled off her diamond stack, switched her cab to a steel, took away her box headlight, and placed a turbine generator in front of the her stack. I don't Think Henry Ford would think much of her appearence today. Torchlake hasn't changed in years, and that is why she is still the more beautiful of the 2 engines.

  • @Chris9017 No, I don't think Henry Ford would care for the village itself since they re-did it, I don't mind the Edison so much, I've gotten used to it, but they actually tried to make the torch lake look older with the same type, if not the same stack the Edison had for awhile and a huge red Cow-Catcher not to mention a crazy paint job and brass. When the Edison was built, it actually looked like a civil war era Mason locomotive with the huge balloon stack and a very ornate cab.

  • You're weird looking. But we keep that to ourselves.

  • How early do you have to come to see this
