Same here, even though I try my hardest to do it; in the end it doesn't look too promising. I have tryed WWII planes and cars, but it was good that I tryed something different before I started a collection of cars.
it is sooo fun to me some times i get stumpted butt it is a good way to help you chill and find more things to fill in your day nice car buddy!!! hope to see more i don't have mine posted becous i don't have a camra..;. will come soon !!
You got that right! I find it a great relaxing hobby, and I'm happy that I've found an outlet (YT) where they can be shown to many (I only use a 4megapixel digital still camera lol). I haven't done that that many Honda's, but expect to see vids of an Accord and Orthia soon, and I've got an unbuilt '88 CRX in the pipeline.
Generally the parts come with the models themselves however sometimes I have shaped spoilers with putty (did that with a MR2 model) for models - sometimes I also use the leftover sprue to make rollcages.
just wanted to know how and when do you do black washing. coz i would like the doors and the joints to be seen. do you do it after painting with the acrylic or after primer?
am just about to start a new hobby of scale modeling. i reall appreciate what you uploaded and some tips you gave. what type of primer paint do you use, what brnd and type of clear coat do you use? hope you can give me some pointers. i got a morris cooper and am just looking on the parts hope i can start soon. thanks
yes joh. i saw that too. it was an awesome job. the more that im inspired to do a cooper as my first venture. by the way are you from the philippines? do you suggest that i build the model before i paint it? or do i paint the model while attached to the sprue? hope you can guide me. im gathering the paint and sanding materials . hope to start soon. thanks
Thankyou mate - I'm in New Zealand (a country with every weather extreme lol- it is a mid-summer heatwave at this moment!)
As for building the model - a lot of people paint the parts while attached to the sprue - however for myself any non-metallic plated parts (except seats, windows) I generally glue to the car before painting - plastic bonds to plastic, resulting in a 'stronger' model, while paint sometimes reacts badly with the glue when it is applied.
hehe, as usual i didn buy a gtr model again.. instead i bought a bmw... and its in progress now.... i hope to see your gtr, i bet it will be awsome, haha...
I airbrush (actually utilizing spraycans) the body, interior, underbody etc, however I still handbrush the smaller detail parts. I recommend utilizing a primer first, then the colour you want, then a clearcoat - use light sandpaper between the coats to remove any imperfections.
Oh yes, to get rid of a paintjob on a model car that turned out horrendous, dip the body for several days in automotive brake fluid - it strips paint, but leaves the bare plastic alone!
Thankyou mate - I achieved the result by lightly spraying the interior with light and dark blue, which resultantly created a random 'fabric' texture approach - the bolstering on the side was handpainted.
hay could u give some ideas for the enzo i started today if u can i would be very greatful : )

I suck at building models... I just buy pre-fabbed ones now after trying to build a Q45 and majorly fucking it up.

Its all practice mate - Was it the paint that "fucked up"?

I blackwash after the colour coats (and first primercoat are added (on the bodywork that is). Normally I use a mixture of black paint and water.
joh2 4 years ago
joh,
just wanted to ask what clear coat do you apply as a finishing coat? is it same as the clear coat of car paint? does it come in a spray cannister?
thanks

I use plastikote brand clearcoat - I haven't tried actual automotive clearcoat as yet, but I am sure it would work...

Thankyou, I use Plastikote brand spraypaints (for primer, the chosen colour, and the clearcoat), likely available from most hardware stores.
Interestingly, I did a Cooper in 2006, and the I do have a vid on YT of the car being built...

Thanks mate and you have plenty of good models yourself - I've actually almost finished a R33 GT-R, which will be on Youtube soon...

do you airbrush or hand brush? what do you reccomend for someone who has completed 4 mdel cars all of which were trashy looking

cool, im very much strugling with an enzo ferrari right now.

always use air brush, or spray can.... but dont use spray cans that are for metals... i have a model car vid to.... whatch it if you have time....
trogodo 4 years ago
Some spraycans for metals I've found to be alright - provided there is a primercoat underneath!!!
joh2 4 years ago
oh yeh!! sorry, i forgot the primer, lol... sorry, haha!! i never used primer, i wna try but no buget, lol.... even clear coat....

Ah, its all practice Jack! Actually I find the hobby a good stress reliever lol...
joh2 4 years ago
I've heard that! But for me, I'd have a propane torch burning nearby to help "fit" the parts! LOL
