@mellowshock - Yes, I was aware of the JSF. My company makes parts for it. The Navy had two stealths for consideration - A-12 and and the before mentions F-22. Yes, the Navy considered using a modified F-22 for carrier operations that lead to my comment. The reason was cost and mission capability. This was the same reasoning that lead to the retirement of the F-14 Tomcat.

I would think that it would be possible to refit F-22 for carrier operations. It's just too expensive. THe Navy needs Stealth.

@darkguardian1314 They'll have the F-35. Not as stealthy as the Raptor, but that's the trade off for sea-borne capability.
