  • haha its so cutte :D

  • I like to think they nicknamed it a "Spacebug" because they felt more comfortable working with it by pretending it was an alien or something rather than something that used to be human

Looks like Geena Davis found the puppetry surprisingly fun backstage though, even if the scene is horrific and sad

  • How did they make that corrosive vomit and the sizzling downsize of that guy's hand?

  • @Chop94sticks wax and montage. There were probably about 5 or 6 hands in that sequence

  • During the final moments of the BrundleFly transformation, I was on the edge of my seat! This film was horror at its most intense!!! Great classic with its own merit!

  • where can i find in youtube the rotating room scene???

  • Comment removed

  • What fucked me up was this thing was conscious of its miserable existence all the way to the point of putting a gun to its head. :(

  • This movie fucked me up, i seen it like when i was 4, i was so grossed out, and till this day, im still grossed out by it lol, and im actually into gore movies but this movie hits me on another level.

  • traumatised me as a kid.

  • HA DICKSMITH CAME UP WITH THE IDEA FOR BLADDERS> CLASSIC

  • Why is it called the Spacebug?

  • @robirdsfilmmaker cuz the final fly creature looks like sum monster bug alien from space lol

  • Geena Davis is the handsomest woman I have ever seen:)

  • OLD SCHOOL! all the way F#%@ CGI!

Would brundlefly develop fly wings? or is that the full transformation?

  • @smoluk1 If you notice, he only has the limbs had features that both Brundle and the Fly shared. Brundle didn't have wings previously, thus he didn't grow them, but he did grow extra arms, because Brundle had legs and arms.

  • IT's A FOOKIN PRAWN

  • I don't know why the film people call it a "space bug"? It had nothing to do with space...maybe Brundlefly or manfly

  • watching that deformed baboon thing crawl away, good god that was just creepy and messed up LOL. Damn

  • You couldn't do this with CGI

  • @sparkyinbath

A team of great animators/artist could do that with CGI. The reason this looks great is because of the team that worked on it, not the medium they used. I can understand why people may prefer one medium to other, but they both have their terrible faults. I hate cheap CGI as much as I hate cheap cheesy costumes, puppets, animatronics, and make up. Sorry if it seems like I'm jumping at you but it irritates me when people believe their subjective taste to be fact.

  • lol I said cut cause I i heard you say fuck.

  • i miss those old school practical effects. it looks so real and so good then cg.

  • IS AT GEE-E-NA DAVIS?

  • This movie would have been so much worse if the effects were computer generated.

  • @MetalFPSC It's like the music purists...the imperfections in vinyl as opposed to CD or MP3 are what make the music real for them.

I like SOME of the CG out there now, but I like almost ALL of the old practical effects.

  • @TheKnuckleneck The thing with CG is that it has to be done perfectly for it to work, and it almost never is, practical effects look real (becouse they actually are) and even if not perfectly done, still have that charm to them. :)

  • at 4:11 I've never seen anyone get so cheerful at something so disgusting, lol. I really appreciate these classic special effects.

  • NO CG shit can compete with this good old days of animatronics, prostethics and in-camera FX .

  • @skelegons Yeah they should have continued the techniques and advanced them instead of using computers so much. I thought the way they went from real photography to computer effects in the matrix movies (the sequels compared to the first one) really destroyed the magic there too. Sure they got to do moves that they couldn't have done, but the cool thing about the first one was actually the photography.

  • A friend of mine calls animatronics "shitty special effects".

I totally disagree. I was so much more convinced to be scared of the Brundlefly than rather than anything I've seen in CGI. Sure, CGI nowadays looks amazing and animatronics are noticably fake, because of the limitations of realistic movements and actions, but this video PROVES that making monster movies back in the 80's was so much harder and so much more work. I really respect old filmmakers for what they had to go through.

  • @DevilRebellion There was even an old episode of the Ninja Turtles cartoon that spoofed this by turing Baxter Stockman into a fly.

  • @DevilRebellion I think animatronics look better. I'm no old fogey (I'm 20) and I watch all the latest movies...but this is the way I like 'em best of all...

  • @MrCybershade Totally! Couldn't agree more.

  • Five minutes of nightmare fuel.

Two weeks of "rip that sucker off."

  • im gonna need a bigger fly swatter

  • Wow thanks a lot for putting this up.

  • Ahh when film makers made and effort and didn't just CGI

  • @MrShearz25 i allways think exactly the same everytime i watch any movie from the 30's to late 90's, so many years of iconic movies effects can't be wrong!! :D

  • @MrShearz25 Eh, for you information convincing CGI takes a lot of effort. Don't you think that the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park, Gollum, King Kong, Yoda and many other creations looked really good? In fact a marriage between CGI and practical effects works really well.

  • @paulod27 Jurassic Park was convincing because it was done well but that movie utilised animatronics for close ups, not a stampede of dinosaurs in the open plain.

  • @paulod27 theres going to be a time when i will be wrong, but when compared to practical effects on personal level, cgi is vastly inferior. besides, it's not used because its better, it's done because its cheaper.

  • @paulod27 using CGI in some points its good when its well done, but the problem is that directors of nowdays relie 100% on pure cgi, take an example to The thing precuel, 100% CGI, and look at The Thing and see the diference.

thats when CGI its pure stupid

  • Utterly grotesque but I still a fantastic film.

  • Geena Davis is a very attractive woman, I'm just 23 and I would definitely go out on a date with her =) excellent movie btw I loved it

  • 28 here, and amen to that.

  • The 1986 version was a more believable story...(a gradual transformation), but me...I still prefer the 1958 (help me) spider web scene as telling the story of what is happening...although we never actually get to see (in either version) what happened to the fly's brain. I think that is the point and the mystery though. If I have to choose between the two versions I will take the original because it was less of a love story and more of a sci-fi film...but the 1986 version was a GREAT flick!

  • is that really jeff goldblum

  • 01:12 - 01:52 LOL !! XD !!

  • I absolutely love this film!!! I saw it yesterday and I almost cried at the end!!!

  • Have you noticed how frankly the old-school movies were made? It makes you throw up when you see the monster and that was the purpose:))!! If you compare it with nowadays horrors with PC effects that look like a PC game...GOOD OLD TIMES!! Today´s filmmakers should invest money in proper film-effects-makers rather than in PC programmers...

  • @unikad the spacebug made me have nightmares

  • This movie ruined Spaghetti O's for me.

  • belle zizze

  • What ever happened to Geena Davis? She used to be in movies but she's not in movies anymore. She's attractive enough but when she smiles you see too much gum. Not enough tooth to gum ratio.

  • @cugamer Yeah, good on ya Stewie.

  • @cugamer A Family Guy fan in da house !

  • LA PELICULA MAS ASQUEROS A DE TODOS .......PERO EN EL SENTIDO DE CAUSAR SENSACIONES REPUGNANTES.....BIEN TRABAJADA.....UN FINAL TRISTE.........EXELENTE PELICULA.....¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • @marel1410 wut???

  • i dont wanna watch behind the scenes,i wanna see the front of kkkkkkkk

  • wow, not seen this before. thanks for uploading!

  • Thanks for sharing and posting. ~ same here

  • Thanks for sharing and posting. Thank you.

  • Nothing compares with the original. Different human vibe; different investment in the characters. Seth the fornicator vs. Andre the married man. Just more tragic in every way. Stupid drunken Seth vs. inspired, motivated Andre.

  • @WimGrundy

The original is borderline laughable imo.

  • 9:05 LOL, "when I went to do the sad sequel to this" :) The fly 2 wasn't "that" bad, well , ... maybe it never needed a sequel

  • Along with Carpenter's The Thing, one of the best horror re-makes!

  • @positivityforever One of the best horror sci fi movies!

  • @positivityforever

    Thing is best film ever!

  • @positivityforever agreed :D

  • She has nice tits

  • @smjjohnson Absolutely..... Please stand up.

  • @smjjohnson So do you!

  • @smjjohnson not nice, great!!

  • @smjjohnson lol

  • @smjjohnson Ready to be exploded like the "spacebug"...

  • @smjjohnson

Her husband is a plastic surgon.

  • @smjjohnson ohhhh yes she does

  • @smjjohnson milf

  • is that thing a puppet????????oh my god..how she rip off his mouth?

  • @fareastern00 i heard the undead are willing to work for minimum wage.

  • @PatThePhat1 ok i saw everything so i know how it works. haha! its still for cool for a movie in 1986, better than all the cg craps nowadays.

  • Can someone say cleavage?

  • so wait how did they do the head split again? I can't picture it in my mind, can someone please explain it to me? I'm in college studying to become a theater major (acting and behind the scenes) and I LOVE this movie to death

  • CGI should only be used to create things impossible to create otherwise..such as the movie avatar...when it comes to horror effects..stick with real fx..and use good ole red dye and corn syrup for blood :)

  • Anybody else see the parallels between this movie and Earth Girls are Easy?

  • Note to self: it's only a movie!!!!!

  • it does not matter if it's cgi or optical either way

that makes the movie it's not it is the ticket sales

and audience participation that makes the movie

great if you like the effects cgi or optical than you

enjoy the preciation to the movie and if you don't

go see it again then you will like it the second time around.

  • i though ET was coming out at 3:52

  • What a deeply fucked up, tragic masterpiece.

  • The thing about the fly is that you're not only grossed out by the monster but you feel for it at the same time. That's brilliant movie making.

  • @TotalNekro yea and even though it's a remake it's still an AWESOME movie!!!!

  • IT'S NOT ABOUT THE OBVIOUSLY REVOLTING ASPECTS, BUT WAY MORE ABOUT THE EMPATHY WITH SET/FLY THAT YOU SUBTLELY SLIP INTO, SCENE AFTER SCENE. NOT TO MENTION THE METAPHOR WITH ANY ACTUAL DISEASE THAT HAS TO DO WITH TRANSFORMATION AND TOTAL LOSS OF CONTROL OVER THE EVENTS, TILL THEY LEAD TO TOTAL DISTRUCTION (DEATH). QUESTIONS AS: HOW DOES ONE DEAL WITH WITH UNWANTED, DRAMATIC CHANGES? HOW DO THE OTHERS RELATE TO HIM/HER?...ARE JUST SOME THAT MAKE THIS A VERY DEEP, NOT JUST HORROR, MOVIE

  • @rippedandfunky

    CAPS LOCK!!! FUCK YEAH!!!!

  • @rippedandfunky I USE CAPLOCKS SO PPL APY ATTENTION TO ME

  • @Smoothieman7 apy?

  • @razzp25 pay*

  • i am going to have nightmares

  • haha, is that an animatron or a guy in the costume? cause they are just like playing with him :P

  • @itsthunderkid puppet

  • I loved the REAL effects in this movie. Next to videodrome, these two movies are my favorite 80's horror flicks.

  • gross, the fly robot thing and geena davis. sorry, i don't dig milfs....

  • gina davis is sooo sexy

  • This and The Thing ... scared (actually scarred) me... don't watch when you are 8 ... warning. However, Alien is jarring but a great artistic watch at the age in some way :P

  • @Fragile0Still

yap! I'm self into cgi. my greatest wish? they should do this fucking stuff still todays...it just gives the film the creepy look it should....no shaking camera, no unrealstic animation....just the fucking reality, packed into a fucking nice compositing.... *thumbs up*

  • @derGerlach You're absolutely right! Plus with today's ability to make mechanisms tiny, it should actually be arather easy thing to do.

  • its kinda cute...

  • my dick belongs between that cleavage, thanks guys i recken she should do porn nw, top MILF material.. id love to see that blouse dripping with cum.

  • @beswick1111 yeah gina davis is hott and sexy

  • I have a question for anyone who might know. An actor named John Getz played in this movie and the sequel. He also played in Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter's Dead. In that movie he plays a teenager. His IDB says he was born in 1946 though and Christina Applegate was born in 1971. They looked about the same age. Does John Getz have some secret to aging we don't know about? Can someone help me figure this out? I was hoping to see some scenes of him in this video......no luck though.

  • Dolls and make ups beats CGI for sure

  • Beats cg effects any fucking day.

  • is she pulling off his real jaw?

  • @horneddragon yes....that's what happened...she pulled off jeff goldblum's jaw...it was a very hard scene to film because of the pain it caused him. they spent about two days straight reattaching it after the scene was filmed.

    ......you're an idiot.

  • @frowningcat thats because computer effects were already invented about 10 years before i was born

  • @frowningcat but jeff goldblum said that it was only were accomplished with mechanized, full-bust puppet replicas of the him... O_o

  • i can not get it out of my head how fuckin good that fly looks

  • I enjoyed the cleavage. Thanks!

  • Flash Gordon vs THE FLY!!!! FLASH AHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

  • This movie was fucking scary when I was 11 and watched it :S

  • @ManvsMachine7 Dude, my parents didn't let me watch fucking Jurassic Park when I was 11.

  • 軽くトラウマなんだが...

  • This film is a fucking masterpiece.

  • what ever happened to the movie magic that made all the monsters feel real, now its all this CGI crap :(

  • the fly vs. alien, ultimate battle

  • Spacebug vs. Johnny Five! XD

  • One thing this film makes a point of.If you mess with the laws of nature and laws of physics.you get burnt

  • @LordSuaveVamp No you don't :) not in real life

  • Oh... that is gross, lol

  • Nice

  • the scene of the jaw extraction, looks like a gwar video, greaaaaaat

  • gosh, it makes me happy to know it was just a movie! it would be so sad in real life!

  • Watched this film twice this week (streaming on Netflix). What a brilliant movie. Spot-on direction, great effects and art direction and an Oscar-worthy (seriously) performance by Goldblum. Absolutely fantastic picture.

  • @EricStoneFilms - Yes I watched it on Netflix last week w/ my friend who had never seen it. Awesome movie, always.

  • this movie used to gross me out as a kid but istill loved to watch it! i just realized i was born the same yr this film came out it's kinda cool to see how movies were made back then looks alot more real then all this cgi they're using today

  • The best makeup and such I've ever seen in a movie has to be Meg Mucklebones the swamp witch in Legend. The transformation scene in this movie was prime gruesome though.

  • you know Mel Brooks was executive producer.

  • I think the 'spacebug' was an animatron; rather than Goldblum in a mask.

it would seem the headshot part was all too real. it had to have been an animatron.

no bad comments in reply plzs..

  • Its funny, I prefer the transformation of effects from movies in the 80's like for instance the werewolf movie special effects and like this movie rather then the ones from now days. I think because its more convincing.

  • it's interesting for jeff goldblum to play this type of character. i always imagined him more of a comedian. but he IS eccentric. so i guess it fits.

drool when he first comes out of the telepod (before transformation)

  • I watched this film when I was in primary school. Fucked me up, I was scared of flies for ages :|

    Great film though

  • one of the best movies ever made in the history of the movies =D I just love it

  • I feel the most disturbing part of the film was the nightmare scene in the hospital where she gives birth to a maggot - one of the greatest horror movies ever!

  • @MrBravo1999 i completely agree! my mom couldn't stop laghing when she woke up from the dream of having that gross maggot!

  • That was a real job, I hate scenes making by computers...

  • b ei approfondimenti

ma in che edizione di dvd c'è?

  • when are they going to remake it?

  • @LittleRicky63

remake it? why? its already made

  • ugliest transformationb iveever seen lol

  • I will pissed if the transformations for the remake were all CGI compared to the originality of this version.

  • cant wait for the remake

  • T rex from Jurassic park.

  • was it a real man or a dummy? i mean his eyes and muscles were moving still

  • dummy!

  • go to my account I have full movie :-)

  • i cant find it anywhere ^^"

  • I am sorry,I had to delete it :(

  • baww T.T lol

  • Boobs!!! :) :)

  • always relevant lol

  • love Geena :)

  • "geena i told you to work out god damnit!"

    lol

  • nice titties on geena davis..lol

  • I love this, It's a good thing they never tried to recreate the famous Help Me scene.

  • so is it an alien virus or what??

  • He creates a machine that can teleport people, but when he tries it on himself, a fly accidentally gets in the machine with him, and the teleporter merges their molecules, thus being part human and part fly,

  • this is a master piece...

  • which dvd set is this from?

  • nice tits...

  • oh yeah. very beautiful.

  • wow...i remember when i saw that movie..damm....it is really cool.but man, so gross...but still...so cool!!!

  • CGI will never affect me the way real fx have. It's just the fact that it's right there that makes it so perfect!
