  • hi,i just bought it and on the box say ASUS LCD monitor and also LED backlight,i'm a litle confused it's LCD or LED ?

  • @augustin1990 It's alright, what it means by that is the screen is an LCD screen, as in the image that's being displayed to you is using liquid crystal display technology.Instead of the old flat screen LCD screens which use CCFL (office tube lights) backlighting technology, your new screen is thinner because the light source is from LED (light emitting diodes) so your screen is much thinner, contrast ratio is higher too because of the pure white that the LEDs can produce.

  • @d1ean thanks man very helpfull

  • @augustin1990 Basically both, new LCD (LED backlighting) and old LCD (CCFL backlighting), use LCD tech to display the image, the difference lies with which kind of light source they use to show you the image.

  • whats ur pc specs??????

  • @ssdfhX111

    Quad core q9550 (OC'd)

    4gb ddr2

    3TB HDD (x4)

    9800gtx nvidia (OC'd)

    4 Years old

  • @d1ean and still running strong i give u props :P

  • @d1ean by any chance do u plan on upgrading ur rig ??

  • @ssdfhX111 Maybe yeh would be nice to freshen it up, its been a while since i've thought of upgrading

  • I've recently got one and have a hard time finding the right settings. All of the EZ settings hurt my eyes except the sRGB,but the problem is sRGB causes ghosting(requires ASCR)

May I know what settings do you use ?

  • @MaziarAmiri I use standard mode normally for every day use with contrast at 10 and brightness at 100, its enough to read text on the net comfortably. For gaming I set the screen to theater mode, colour is set to user mode (red is 100 blue is 100 green is 100) contrast is at 85, brightness i change using the quick button when i need to. ASCR on theater mode is OFF,trace free set to 30 with sharpness set to 50.

You can set "trace free" higher on sRGB if u have ghosting to stop it happening

  • @d1ean Thanks,will try your recommendations.

But I can't change anything for SRGB.All the settings are greyed out in the menu

  • @MaziarAmiri Im looking at it as I type this: for sRGB on the image menu you should be getting

    sharpness

trace free (which is the one you want to change to stop streaking)

    aspect control.

Best to just use theater mode as it gives you the most options for adjusting.

  • @d1ean Oh I see,OK we'll test and report back :) thanks again

  • @d1ean Thanks again.I set the "trace free" higher and I don't notice any ghosting.

And your standard config is kinda too dark for me :D But will try the theater mode in games

  • @d1ean also another question is there a version of this monitor with 120hz? if there is can u give me the name pl0x :D?

  • @KoddyX

    VG278H

    New 27" Asus 1080p 120Hz

  • @d1ean can this monitor do 120hz sorry my english is bad

  • @KoddyX Your English is fine. No its max is 60Hz.

  • How high and how wide is the screen?

  • @sodgereeve 64cm across (25" 1/4) and 44cm (17" 1/4) from the bottom of its stand to the top of it

  • @d1ean Ok thanks. :D

  • silly question but does it have an easy to reach headphone port?

  • The port is actually pretty hard to reach, its not practical to stick your hand round the back every time you wanna listen with earphones, my suggestion is leave a pair inside permanently so you don't have to, or use the speakers built in, their decent speakers and not to tinny.

  • tiny*

  • @helloimkhadijah No I meant tinny.

  • @d1ean

    Ohhh. Sorry!

  • @thesebster88 Any other questions ask away

  • Comment removed

  • @323Darkknight If you're going to use it as a PC screen as in sitting at a desk looking at the screen, 32" might be too big for you, at 27" its pretty overwhelming at times. Its your choice but at 32" you might have to sit further back to avoid seeing the pixels of the screen.

  • whats on the top of your ASUS screen?

  • @xXRcadezXx Its a pen i left up there, must look like a webcam like the VK278Q asus. No webcam on VE278Q just my pen

  • 11 / 11 / 11 . jajjajaaj. Are you going to play Skyrim. jajaja.

  • @Azcona2 When i eventually buy it, yep!

  • @d1ean I´m looking for it yet.

  • thank you, sir

  • 235gbp on scan computers, getting one soon to go with my gtx 580 classified!

  • @Deiavonix Nice price! It'll be awesome.

  • yellow white looks better ;)

  • Awesome review! You just helped ASUS sell a monitor. You should get a bonus for that :)

    (newegg $330)

  • @Jankiz007 Haha thanks for watching, enjoy your screen!

  • whats the height with and without the socket?

  • @stingreydid not sure what u mean, but sounds like ur question would be answered in the product specifications

  • @BlowMeeeeeeeeeee sounds like u need to manually set the levels of green red and blue if you want to fix that, if that doesn't fix it you may have a faulty screen, my screen doesn't shpw the problem when switched to different modes..

  • can you use xboxs on them?

  • @JackMclarnonGaming Yes you can, as long as the xbox has a hdmi connection or a DVI or VGA connection.

  • How the hell can 0.2 sec longer boot up of a screen be annoying? You turn it on maybe 2 times a day.

  • @Farekim Quite into my energy saving, so I switch my screens on and off a LOT. I see what you mean though its not such a big deal, its only if you switch your screens off and on regularly.

  • I have an Asus 22-inch monitor so when I have enough money I'll get this one too, so they will match.

  • @PinkTheFloydable Sounds good. I need two screens for my work, but if you need the money you could sell your 22" to help. The 27" is big and clear enough to put 4 windows stacked.

  • I have it, but i have black borders around the picture, any solution?

  • @Vetta306 Could it be that your PC graphics card can't handle the 1080p resolution? Thats all I can think of atm..

  • is it good for gaming?

  • @metro2033fan Yes

  • where did you buy it and for how much

  • @RAMBOxPANDA Amazon for around 270 GBP

  • @d1ean its now 240

  • @096192083 He says throughout the video.

  • Great review! Do you think this Monitor is also good for photo or video editing (in terms of color accuracy)?

  • @Ruellibilly Thank you! To be honest I know nothing about photo editing, however I have noticed that if I have pictures developed from negatives, and then hold the real picture in my hand and look at the same picture on this ASUS the colours all seem to match and look life-like..like..the colour i saw with my eyes looks a perfect match to the physical photo and the digital image on the screen. Like I said I'm an amateur so you would know best =|

  • @Ruellibilly Another thing, this screen lets you adjust colour in terms of levels of R G and B also the colour temperature among other things, so I'm sure you could set up the colours perfectly with your expertise. Personally I think the colours are extremely vibrant, well lit and quite dazzling at times too.

  • what size is the monitor on the left please?

  • @096192083 It is 21.5", even though it is marketed as a 22" screen, its the LG E2250V (1080p LED) model.

  • I've read in the manual about the S/A hotkey that allows for fast switching between 'splendid' modes. Is it possible to set up different brightness/contrast levels for each of these modes?

  • @Paul46252 Yep all the splendid modes can be adjusted to how you like, the sRGB isn't adjustable at all however, I just checked. There should be enough modes to set up your ideal colour/brightness/contrast modes as there are 5 fully adjustable modes. Oh and if you mess up adjusting one of your modes there's a reset for EACH.

  • @d1ean nice, thanks :)

  • @d1ean sorry for this but just to make sure...:)

manual mentions that "In the Standard Mode and sRGB, the Saturation, Color Temp., Skin Tone, Sharpness, and ASCR functions are not user-configurable."

If I understand correctly this above is not a full list and brightness/contrast are available for adjustment in other modes?:)

  • @Paul46252 You're absolutely right, however the 4 modes left over, being night mode, game mode, theater mode and scenery mode; all aspects of the picture (every option) can be adjusted and are saved and wont disappear if you unplug your screen. Also the standard mode actually does allow you to adjust brightness and contrast as well as colour temperature (this includes cool, normal and warm and custom where you define the levels of red blue and green yourself). In short YES to your question :P

  • @Paul46252 If you have any other questions ask away, any questions you do ask helps the others too anyway so the more questions the better :), I will reply as soon as I can. I'll check the screen to make sure too.

  • Really couldn't say in terms of percentage, but the input lag is extremely low..playing fast FPS (unreal tournament) shows no lag between the flick of the wrist and the gun moving. Its not noticeable so it must be pretty low right? You may find out if you look on Google for any actual timed input lag tests.

  • does it have 0% input lag?

  • have you needed to set up trace free to 40 to avoid ghosting?

  • @2in3 Not really no, at 0 its hard to see any ghosting, unless your racing or something, it depends on personal preference really. I have mine set to 0 at the moment but set it to 20-30 when gaming just to get that razor sharp movement but if it was off I wouldn't be that bothered.

  • Adjustable settings?

  • Does it have DVI-DVI? And what is HDMI used for?

  • @dams66black Yes the screen has DVI-D or DVI and the HDMI is used for Xbox 360, Playstation 3, or something that outputs HDMI signal (audio and video in one cable). The settings are fully adjustable too yes.

  • @d1ean

    ta. Height adjust and tilt?

  • @dams66black Has tilt function but no height adjustment, only wall mounting option.

  • what graphics card you using?

  • @fern244 9800GTX Nvdia overclocked to 800MHz rather than 675MHz (stock speed). While the games were running however the graphics card was at stock speed, so no OC...didn't wanna blow it up :P it was during that mini heat wave.

  • hey thanks for making this video after asking :) makes me want it even more

  • @tabby051 You're welcome! It's very good go for it

  • GREAT video for review, but HORRIBLE audio. I could barely hear you. Anyhow, I think I'm going to get the Asus ;D

  • @4RMORMECH The audio is pretty bad, maybe next time I'll subtitle it or something..

  • @PikachuFTW09 Good idea

  • @PikachuFTW09 They're probably talking about the smoothness of the graphics at 24" compared to 27", although my games were smoother looking (albeit a tiny bit) on my old 22", the extra space the 27" affords is waaaaaaay better, also sitting at a distance of around 16-17" from the screen the graphics don't look that much rougher really. The 22" makes small details harder to see. Also with a larger screen you can increase the Field of View without straining your eyes. I say better fully upgrade..

  • How does the picture in picture work...?

  • @Syxx676 I believe it works by displaying two signals at once on screen; so you have your screen displaying let's say a game from your ps3 (HDMI) and overlapping the game is a smaller window that shows your PC (VGA) screen activity. If you Google images picture in picture youll get a better explanation.

  • whats your comp specs?

  • @ravestradamus

    Quad core q9550 (OC'd)

    4gb ddr2

    3TB HDD (x4)

    9800gtx nvidia (OC'd)

    Thermaltake soprano case

About 4 years old so getting on now.

  • Yeh sorry about that, its just that the mic on this head cam is useless, even on the highest sensitivity and a pretty loud voice. I'll speak up next time

  • u should speak up or increease the mic volume...ur voice is barely audible.

  • Really good review, very in depth :). I was wondering how the webcam was though. I know it's only 2 megpaixels but does it do good in low light?

  • @noneofyourbuisness7 Thanks for watching! I think your thinking about the VK278Q 27 inch LCD screen not the Ve278Q 27" LED screen..the VE278Q, the one I'm talking about in the review, doesn't have a webcam at all sorry if I didn't make that clear enough

  • @d1ean Oh haha that's not your fault they just have similar model numbers.

  • I bought this and it's the best gaming screen I have ever had, or seen.

  • @Henrawr91 =D enjoy!

  • @d1ean Oh I will, thanks for everything :D

  • really helped me decide to buy, I just bagged me one of these babies :D

  • @thaoval123 glad this helped someone out, you won't be disappointed =)

  • Do you haven an input lag by gaming???

  • @Pedobear232 I play fast FPS's like unreal. Its highly responsive, the time it takes for the screen to notice the flick of my wrist when sniping, then display it is very low. I would say under 15ms, maybe even under 10ms. I just tested it and can't seem to make it lag behind my hand.

  • @d1ean Thx :D I'm going to buy it for my xbox360 and PC!

  • @Pedobear232 Awesome, have fun with it, its a very good display, no faults I can think of and i'm not just being biased =P. Any problems I do have i'll put up here, hopefully before anyone buys the screen.
