  • Pray for him people he looks like a good guy

  • Has anyone noted that he looks almost exactly like Ishaan from "Like Stars on Earth"?

  • Aaww he's soo adorable!! May God bless him!!

  • cute kid

    :)

  • He's absolutely lovely. I find autism fascinating and really want to learn more about it!

  • some people say its could be a genetic change for the good this could be people of the future starting to appear they are hard wired but they are actually very very smart

  • Is Mickie seeing a DAN doctor? At what age did you start taking him?

My daughter is five years old and nonverbal and not potty trained and we started DAN this summer; so far she has responded to Vitamin B-6; we are doing different tests to determine if chelation or other supplements are appropriate. I really hope we didn't start DAN too late to help her. I am glad to see an older child doing DAN who is making some progress.

  • I see mickie say HI in this video hes so adorable.

  • chronic tics dominate body because they beat the self to volitional expression and activity. tics are often mistaken for 'stims' (self stimulatory behaviours). One can have both but tics are no more fun than other involuntary behaviours such as yawning.

  • His stimming has almost stopped since I started him on the SCD diet. The ticks are still there. They seem involuntary. I wonder how he feels when he does them?

  • don't know about him. facial tics can stress the neck muscles, breathing tics can become distressing. I've never minded vocal tics and most of my motor tics I never minded. It really comes down to how chronic they are and how little time someone gets to have voluntary action and if the tics irritate oneself

  • Did you noticed the one he does with his throat?

He does it mostly while eating or drinking and right after.

  • yeah, he seems to have a tongue rolling one and this means he struggles to breath evenly (which will also starve the brain of regular oxygen if chronic)and there's a throat 'blurt', a sniffing tic, and a growl... when these occur in succession like this its called a complex tic. I have occassional motor+vocal complex tics. My tics are very low level since medication. And mostly my tics were breathing and vocal, but younger were also more motor and facial.

  • Get the book "children with starving brains" by Jenny McCandless. (if u havnt yet)

  • tics are caused by brain irritation, often scaring caused by viral infection which has crossed the blood brain barrier, particularly in immune deficient kids with primary immune deficiency and an inflammatory state. I've had tics since age 2. When they are chronic they can dominate one's sense of self and relationship to body. good luck Mickie.

  • He is undergoing antiviral and antifungal treatment and it has made a big difference. After a week on Antiviral he pet the cat whom he had ignored up till that point. Mickie's ticks didn't start till about 5 years old, even though he was diagnosed at 2.

  • I started getting ill at 6mths - jaundice and ear infections. by age 2 I appeared deaf, no response to pain, and severe coughing tic caused me to cough blood. The tics diversified (thank goodness) and rapid cycling bipolar set in by age 3. I have agnosia issues but mostly I'm pretty happy and balanced with my 'autism fruit salad' now... but I'm 44... its been a long road.

  • yes... and you made it... I'm sooooo greatful for you... My brother is still suffering and he's 28... my BFF has two kids...and she is having a hard time. If you can speak for the little and big ones who can't, use your gift of words to reach others...

  • He looks happy :)!

  • He is happy most of the time, In his own way.
