Fixing a Flat

I think i will start carrying a cotton ball in my kit like ianjk suggested, always feels a bit odd using your fingers to check for sharps!

I usually patch... but I like to pull the tire all the way off and identify the source of the flat. Might not be able to see from visual inspection of the outside. Chunks of glass can be hard to see, carry a single cotton swab and run it across the inside of the tire, it will usually catch on whatever caused the flat (unless it is a pinch). Nothing like putting a new tube in and popping it as soon as you get back on the road.

rubbing a cotton ball or swap inside the tire to identify glass and debris is an AWESOME tip!!!

BTW, I usually patch when I get home.

Also, when you find what you believe caused the puncture, keep going all the way around... sometimes you will find more junk stuck in the tire.
