I would love to use this as an entrance theme. It has a high-impact beginning, and I could stroll to the ring with it. It doesn't fit my character though, since I am a heel right now and not a member of a mixed tag team or whatever.
This is one of Marvin's best body's of work top to bottom...just an array of songs put together duing the 'Janice' time period...collector''s item here1
@onelovega Fuck your so called "friends",and blast Marvin as loud as you want to.THIS is your life and you don't have to have it validated by a bunch of Haters!!!! PEACE2U.......
I was kicked off chattroulette or whatever for holding up a sign saying Happy Birthday Marvin on April 2nd,but it's ok for some loser wack it to not get kicked. Oh well that kinda made me sad. I was always jealous of my friends and others to have a band or artist they loved so much, but when I heard this man sing I knew I had found my favorite artist for life. So what if my friends give me #### about it. I couldn't care less cause they just don't care to really listen. Love you all.
Marvin Gaye I'll always love him, even more than I did when he made this album in my senior year at James B. Dudley High in Greensboro, North Carolina class of 1974 !!!! GO DUDLEY PANTHERS
1 of best songs on this l.p......whole l.p is outstanding. 1 of the best soul singers of our time....stay down for those 70's ...ol skool.....hey now : )
Marvin was a music master. This song was somethng else in its day. It still is today. Marvin "discretely" begs his girl to stay because he is whipped. Not only that, he sings about (or should I say his backup overdubs sing about) how he "never cum this way before" repeatedly. Only Marvin Gaye can get away with that.
@crazydenise06 WOW reminds me of my brother too, in his rag top 63 and Funky Four my brother kept it real all the way until he couldn't hit his switches no more, he passed away 6/2003 from Cancer but he kept it rolling and Marv was in the cassette deck back in the late 70's I Miss my bro so much and Marv too, but his music will live on forever especially this one here
Marvin was the illest 2 ever do it!!! This song is so DAMN soulful and powerful. I can't get enough. Post up with your queen 2 this cut ;-) "Scared that if I close my eyes when I wake up I might find you gone." RIP brotha Marvin....the music game misses u. i hate these bullshit singers & their bootyshakin songs.
one of my favorite Marvin Gaye songs.... so beautiful... the vulnerability and insecurity from a mans perspective is sooo heavy... only Marvin could transition from Lets Get It On to this song... by transitioning from that to this song on the album hes showing that after him and his lover get it on he needs her to stay to make him feel safe... its almost childlike and that's what makes it so damn poetic and beautiful
@adsgjndfgj as his life depended on it ..in so much desperation for this women, but he was so slick with it and the music was sho nuff funky...the strings just took it to another place...
@acoe174112 Thanks for the info - but even at 60,000 views?!?! This song, like most of MG's, is brilliant. I guess I should be grateful it's here at all, right? Peace!
men if you want to beg to keep your woman from leaving. learn from marvin and not these so called R&B male singers today. this is a classic like no other.
This is raw emotion right here. When you were in a relationship that was readly to fall apart and your man would play this song for you, it was becasue Marvin said the things that maybe he didn't know how to say himself. That's what our generation's music did, it talked about love.. .
My mother played this album all day, every day, when I was 7 years old, and from the first time I heard this song, this has been my JAM!!! I have always, always, loved this song. Aaaahhhh, yeah, baby.
This song is probably my favorite from the LEGENDARY Marvin Gaye... and it's cuz of treasures like this why he'll foreva reside in the top 5. Personally: 1. Sam Cooke, 2. Marvin Gaye, 3. Teddy Pendergrass, 4. Johnnie Taylor and Willie Hutch, & 5. David Ruffin. RIP TO ALL THESE PIONEERS WHO MADE MUSIC THE BEAUTIFUL ART THAT IT IS.
@poetryselite good list I personally would put Marvin Gaye higher only because he has an ever lasting legacy he will never be forgotten his music was real he told the truth the man was an amazing artist Marvin Gaye=Legend
Mayena I totally agree with you. Just a few more reasons why he will ALWAYS be the best there ever was. We miss you Trouble Man....Tell Tami we all say HI!
The strongest cuts on the Let's Get It On album (1973) were #2 Please Stay (Once You Go Away), #4 Keep Gettin' It On, #7 You Sure Love To Ball. That's my own opinion though.
