  • It looks like an Einhander rip-off actually.

  • Played this back in the days I thought it sucked. Was so boring.lol

  • Check out Zanac X Zanac brilliant shoot em up Japan only though.

  • Why does this look so much like Einhander?

  • @MrBassRabbit QFT. It looks like the first two levels crammed into one and the progression bears an uncanny resemblance.

  • I have this game and enjoy it pretty much. However the sad part is that my PS2 gave up the ghost of running PS1 games, so I run it on an emulator instead.

  • i have this game yet :), it was one of my favourites

  • Wow, it really does seem alot like Einhander.

Anyways, I thought it was funny to see this game on Amazon for one cent!

Not many things you can buy for a penny these days, and this game is probly worth a little more than that.

Has some cool sounding tunes too.

  • ah yes, the poor man's Einhander!

lol crappy tank animation at 2:05

  • I remember this looked like a different game if you turn on smoothing on a ps2.

  • its cool that u choose some sick games! great fkn discoveries

  • XD You deliver again. First on the only gameplay video of Vanark and now on Space Shot!

Yeah was trying to show this to a friend. It was part of the Simple Series in Japan so it was made on a low budget and sold at a low price. Original retail price in the US was $10. Strangely I had a lot of fun with some of the $10 Simple Series games (Top Shop, Battle Hunter, Superstar Dance Club #1 HITS!!!, and this).

  • can you tell me some nice shmups on PS1, mate? i'm a fan of the genre and i want to litterally get all of them. thanks a lot and keep sharing those forgotten treasures :D

  • @CardiacCrysis I'm not the expert at shmups on the PS1. Sure I can list Einhander, G Darius, In the Hunt, R-Types, R-Type Delta, Thunder Force V, Raystorm, and a few others, but if you're looking for imports, I'm not an expert in that area. If I were you, I'd go the the Gamefaqs Playstation boards, because some guys there really know their stuff about such things.

  • @teh2Dgamer those you listed are already a good list :) thanks anyway, mate. keep sharing the good stuff!

  • hey... these are Einhander buildings!!!... and HELL : it's the Thunder Force ship!!!

  • i got this for 5 euros @ a retro gaming store :-D

never heard of it but it´s awesome !!!!!!!!!

  • @ninetysevenecho IF IT BOTHERS YOU THEN FUCK OFF YOU'RE BLOCKED YOU FUCKING MORON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SHMUP IS THE STANDARD TERM FOR THE GENRE, SO FUCK WHAT YOU SAY, YOUR OPINION DOESN'T MATTER. Thank you. Fuck off and have a nice day.

  • The last game I played like this was Earth Defense Force on the SNES. Good video 2D.

  • i like the music- it's not often you hear a decent "rock" soundtrack.

  • Looks like a fun game to me

  • Graphically it looks a lot like Einhander

  • Almost Danmaku! Almost but it looks fun :P.

  • what an incredible shooter

  • It reminds me Ray Storm (<3) for the laser homing missiles and R-Type because of the machine in the front, looks really nice

  • The first stage kinda sorta reminds me of Ein Hander. Pretty cool man, I'll have to check this out.

  • It looks very unimaganative and way too easy, I hope you were playing it in easy mode.

Still i suppose it would make a good shmup to play after a good beer session and your using the controller upside down lol

  • good quality for 1500¥ (18$ of 2000)

  • R-type ripoff? looks decent but i think i would rather play R Type Delta instead...

  • I'll say... the music is right too well done for a budget game.

  • It was already on my list :P

  • Was that just me? or was the game slowing down a ton on that first boss fight with the "cyber weapon". I haven't played many shmups yet, so dont know how badly slowdown affects gameplay for them in general. Can it bet as gamebreaking as fps slowdown?

  • @Lazyhoboguy Sometimes slowdown in shmups is a good thing. It can save your ass at times.

  • @teh2Dgamer i totally agree

  • never heard of this one..do you know if it got a pal release?

  • @cyanidebreathmintz I just checked Gamefaqs, and it appears not to have. It's not the greatest shmup ever, but it's cheap an it's decent. The Japanese name is: Simple 1500 Series Vol. 35: The Shooting if you're looking to import it from Japan.

  • @teh2Dgamer cheers! ;)

  • @teh2Dgamer

Interesting that, as a D3 budget game, The Shooting never got a Euro release. I've got a good number of English localised Simple 2000 games, most of them are awful of course but I liked Global Defence Force/Monster Attack, All Star Fighting and Steel Dragon EX.

  • Sounds more like the kind of name you'd hear in a parody like "Jumper Run Man" or whatnot :p

  • @Doom2Guy Yeah, the names of the budget PS1 titles didn't have much imagination put into them. You've got Shooter Space Shot, and Shooter Star Fighter Sanvein as well as Bowling, Racing, Pool, Board Game Top Shop (which is a really fun one too), and a number of others that didn't have much creativity in their names.
