  • SEE WHERE IS IT NOW, LOL

  • You Guys are Funny lke Laurel and Hardey but in words........

  • damn it kinda looks like a calculator

  • Android fans see

    w w w. G1-Forum .c o m

  • amazing really

  • Look at that little guy! Is this an older model or something?

  • Does anyone know what model that phone is?

  • I agree, after using an iPhone you will find that dinky thing annoying. Still, it's only MK 1 and I wouldn't be surprised if they get a decent design eventually.

  • i dont like the design... my opinion..

  • Sorry Google, you know I love you, but your UI for phones isn't going to compare with the iPhone. Granted, I haven't used Android, but I've seen plenty of demos. I've owned an iPhone since they came out over a year ago. They just work and it's a UI that suits most.

  • Understand Google Android carefully; "Its open source" meaning its only going to get faster in speed and better in design. iPhone OS cannot compare to the possibilities of this, some are so new you wonder why Apple didnt think of that.

But irrelevently iPhone is lack certain standard phone hardware like Bluetooth, Radio, a button keypad etc, even tho Android is just a OS and not a handset.

Apple needs to be alot more smarter now because Google might be what were using the future.

  • It seems we can finally see webpages just like on a pc, with flash and evreythign???

  • yeah. plus im sure when the new firefox for phones called fennic you can do tab browsing, should be great. HTC dream using Android ight be coming out soon theres a video on the HTC dream

  • i think developers are in the process of developing a flash alternative... at least that's what opera was doing last i heard.

  • The release date for the Dream is October 13th 2008. According to Everything you need to know about G1 website. I hope its true.

  • Looks pretty cool, so where the hell is it, Google?

  • could see phones popping up by 2009 around 1st & 2nd quarter. theres a video on HTC dream using android OS. not the greatest quality of video but looks a bit like the Sidekick keyboard when you slide it out.

  • This is an ugly phone!

  • plus I've heard rumours that you can edit the operating system in a similar way that you would with linux.

it's fully customisable thats kinda the idea behind it.

  • Yeah, one can edit it "in a similar way that you would with linux," because Android is actually a distribution of Linux (developed by google), not unlike Ubuntu or Fedora.

  • actually android was deveoped by one of the engineers at Danger Inc. andy rubin who make the Sidekick. he left to start android and in 2005 google bought android. rich miner chris white and nick sears were also co founders of android. should be interesting to se how it will work in phones.

  • Semantics... Google owns it.

  • not semantics.. you said they developed it... they didnt they bought it out. it was already developed

  • You ARE wrong there, because it was not fully developed until recently (if it even is fully developed now).

  • i never said it was fully developed. YU said it was developed by GOOGLE. i wasnt, it was started and incorporated by andy rubin in 2003 it was his company called ANDROID. google came in and bought the platform already developed. google came in 2005 to buy android out. they thought of it they developed it. and Andy rubin is still there making sure it works with all devices. andy rubin developed it from the begining

  • and Andy Rubin works for... GOOGLE! Hence, developed by Google. It is no longer his intellectual property.

  • saying android was developed by google is like saying google developed youtube. google bought youtube the same way google bought ANDROID. android was bought for 50 million or around. andy rubin and his co founders developed it in somewhat secrecy. even when google bought Android it wasnt announced till 07. also you said UBUNTU and FEDORA wasnt a distribution of linux when both are linux based. both are based on the linux kernel

  • You, sir, are a moron. Android was not fully operational, not by a LONG shot when Google purchased it. Youtube, on the other hand, was already a money making machine by the time Google stepped in. Android was in the works (and still is, by the way) when Google stepped in. It is, therefore, developed by Google(the company that purchased it during development).

  • You should also read the full comments before you spout nonsense. I said "Android is actually a distribution of Linux (developed by google), not unlike Ubuntu or Fedora." By saying "not unlike," I was confirming that Ubuntu and Fedora are distros of Linux. I freaking use BOTH of them on 3 separate machines, for goodness sake! Learn to read and comprehend English at a 2nd grade reading level before you put up your next post, please.

  • well i guess we should just say android was created and named Android and incorporated by andy and company with his 3 partners in 2003 developed up until 2005 and bought for 50mil and further developed from 2005 till now. sorry about the messed up reading and its kindergarden reading not 2nd grade reading.

  • It's not a phone its an operating system for phones!

so the phones theyre showing it on are one of the many tht will be available, you don't know if its high end or low end.

but i do know tht you can add extra programs on it much in the same way you would do on a pc.

  • it surew as hell isnt as pretty as the iphone!!

  • That looks so bad. Its menu system is exactly like current phones, which runs deep menus and requires a lot of use of those directional buttons.

  • Looks really small

    like ur penis xD

  • get off the iphone's nuts. this is open source so the possibilities are endless. not tied down to apple's BS upgrades. i'm an apple user so get on me about loving PC's and hating apple.

  • what? no touchscreen?

  • there is one with touchscreen

  • It has open SDK, which means its open for development for free. Which also means touchscreen functionality will more than likely come to it since most high end mobile phones are incorporating it in some way these days.

  • I think they've got a bit more work left... I'm all for Android, but it still needs to match the iPhones user friendliness.

  • GOOD

  • what about treos... phones with touch screen?

  • One platform to rule them all!

  • android looks werry good, my next phone is android, thats for sure, in two or three months .. that looks optimal
