  • hippies!!!! :D 1:31

  • cuteness at 0:13 !!!! :D

  • My preference based on Davey Jones, Michael Nesmith, Mickey Dolenz, Peter Tork, but they all were special on their own ways, funny and cute, but when I was a kid Davey was my special one.

  • @evarph ....You put Peter last!!! -- I'm shocked! Ah well...I did ask for opinions!

  • My preference based on level of attractiveness - 1. Peter Tork, 2. Michael Nesmith, 3. Davey Jones, 4. Mickey Dolenz - what do other people think?

  • @Torkgasmicgirl8 1. Peter Tork 2. Michael Nesmith 3. Mickey Dolenz 4. Davey Jones

  • @mariomaniac6411 ......It's nice to see that everyone is so far in agreement....yes...it's official ...Peter Tork is the most attractive Monkee!!

  • @Torkgasmicgirl8 ...Yeah!.. I started quite a debate on these comments!...Thanks everyone, I've enjoyed reading all your replies!! -- Keep them coming! -- but let's keep Peter 1st !!

  • @Torkgasmicgirl8 Definitely: 1) Davy 2) Mickey 3) Peter 4) Mike

  • @crochetmom5 ...Davy and Mickey before Peter? Really?..Fair enough, I did ask for people's opinions...don't have to agree with them though!!! Ha Ha Ha!!

  • @Torkgasmicgirl8 ummm excuse me, but micky dolenz is far the cutest :D, then comes peter, then mike, then davy

  • @ILuvMickyDolenz you are so damn right lol

  • @paloma598 ;D

  • @Torkgasmicgirl8 Mickey Dolenz played in the 50s TV show Circus Boy. He rode the elephant at the intro. The circus was constantly plagued with disaster, like the circus scene in the Disney movie The Three Lives of Thomasina.

  • @Torkgasmicgirl8 Mines according to your order from the Monkee I like the most to the least: 1, 3, 4, 2

  • Comment removed

  • @Torkgasmicgirl8 1. Micky Dolenz 2. Peter Tork 3. Mike Nesmith 4. Davy Jones

  • @Torkgasmicgirl8 1. Mike Nesmith, 2. Mike Nesmith, 3. Mike Nesmith... 4. MIKE NESMITH!!! hehehe...

    :)

  • @RhybeckahNesmithFan ...What about Mike Nesmith? LOL....

  • backbeat05 - You're right about Dylan. "Song to Woody" and "Talkin' New York" are both from his first album, both written by Dylan.

You're alsp right about "Papa Gene's Blues" being the only one - I used to love that song; not heard it since 1971 - must check YouTube again!

  • What self-penned songs were on the first album?....and I'm a fan from when they first started.

  • @TheRingoDave Me too - another first generation fan. Papa Gene's Blues was the only one. Sweet Young Thing was Goffin/King and Nesmith. So if hanniballecturer is right, debut albums of Byrds & Dylan contained no self-penned songs ? Don't know about Byrds but find that hard to believe of Dylan.

  • great audio!!! love the way they harmonized...both songs!

  • Micky still looks the same 1:32

  • Hi fans this is mickey dolan we didnt get paid much but it was a lot of fun thanks for watching Mickey

  • @badtrucker130 You know his name is Micky Dolenz, right? Lol...

  • @erinjuh Hes retarded

  • @badtrucker130 Mickey dolan? first of all its Micky (no e) and Dolenz (not dolan) your retarded

  • @badtrucker130 Wowww. Just-WOW. You expect people to believe you're Micky Dolenz when you have horible grammar and can't even spell your own name? That's ridiculous. Or, as Micky would say: "Isn't that DUMB?"

Besides, I HIGHLY doubt Micky's YouTube username would ever be badtrucker130. We all know Micky's no trucker XD

    Dear goodness dude..

  • @megncomedy i know

  • @megncomedy XD I mean i'm 13 and I know How to Spell Micky's Name, (George Micheal Dolenz).

  • @BeatlesMonkees Exactly, haha. I'm 14. I bet my 7 year old sister could spell it!! I mean that was just mind-blowing...but, made me laugh X)

  • i am from Brazil in south america and i love this band from down here ...

  • NICE!!!!! I know I've watched/listened to this before, but it's been a while. I don't remember if I ever commented before either. They sound terrific "unplugged," and I like the montage of pictures you put together for it too. Thanks for this! Is there an original video of this performance somewhere as well?

  • is that real facial hair on peter at 0:09??

  • I love the picture at 1:43

  • do u have mp3s of this?

  • It's Peter singing Take A Giant Step right?

  • @Grafietstift yes in this clip Peter IS singing. That's sure one of the things I really like about these guys after the tv show and albums - PETER got MORE TIME! A little too late I think, he had so much more potential with his unique, warm, innocent and sincere voice!

  • @RevSpike In the studio-version of Take A Giant Step it's Micky singing it right?

I'm trying to improve my skills for recognizing the voices haha. ;)

  • @Grafietstift yes indeed it's Micky! He can be singing it in the show. You ought to here the THREE versions of "I Don't Think You Know Me At All"; it was recorded three separate times with with Peter, Micky and Mike all singing lead. Tho they weren't released til Missing Links and all the bonus cuts on the reissues.

  • @Grafietstift , yes mickey sang this song in the studio

  • @stevenj8810 Okay thanks

  • His Mama...lol :v))

  • wow, this is great. Thanks for posting!!

  • saudades da sessão da tarde...não perdia nenhuma. velhos tempos, bons tempos, boas músicas românticas...beautifull, wonderfull musics.

  • Never missed one their shows when i was a little tike...it was the car i loved that car..the show was funny .But they are very talented musicians.

  • This is soooo funny! I love the pics!!!!!

  • What was the audio source from, and where can I get a copy of the rest of this show!

  • Não consegui reconhecer dentre os quatro o Mike! Os outros ainda se parecem, envelheceram mas ainda guardam as características!

  • For young and old!!

  • these guys have always been my favorite. Wouldn't miss their show and I really liked the pictures of them now good video thanx.

  • they are my favorite band ever

  • I saw them April 20 1989 at Hammersmith Odeon (now Apollo)

    great gig!

  • I've heard of the monkees but this is the first time that I have listened to them.

  • Since I was a child, the Monkees always meant one thing to me: pure joy!

  • love Pete's vocals and especially the harmonization!

  • Love Pete`s vocals!

  • Have you heard Peter sing and play banjo on "What Am I Doing Hang 'Round" ? Posted as The Monkees - "What Am I Doing Hang 'Round" (on Nashville Now in 1989).

    That's a good performance

  • This was a lot of fun to listen to, thanks for the post.

  • cool this performance is from exactly one day before I was born!

  • eso es cantar

  • When love comes knockin at byour door...

It's thhe best words i ever heard.

  • well said kookooboy!! for the past 40 years they have continued to make millions around the world happy...when you read something negitive like trash or what imtxsmoke wrote,,makes you wonder..are these people happy? or just void of dreams....too bad..

  • I DID NOT post that message... I have NO idea "how" or "who" posted that message using my ID. I always loved the Monkees as a kid growing up.

Do I need to change my password or delete my you tube account?

  • The Monkees, as originally conceived, were a collaborative effort of screenwriters, songwriters and actors who could sing, and who contriubted songwriting as well, in the cases of Mike and Peter. That doesn't negate their contribution to popular music .I'm over the snobbery and elitism of the haters. they were actors who were hired to play a music group and in the process they became a music group. Period.

  • yet more real than most of the bands that have come out in the last 20 years.... interesting fact: their debut album had more self penned songs that the debut sof the Byrds and Dylan.

  • @hanniballecturer

Actually the Byrds debut album had 3 songs by Gene Clark, who was the main songwriter for the group in the early days and 2 co-written by Clark & McGuinn. The Monkees debut song had 2 songs by Michael Nesmith and that is it, so you are incorrect with your statement concerning the Byrds who had 5 original songs on their debut compared to 2 by the Monkees.

  • Another nice vocal from Peter, Davy sounded great as well. Love hearing them.

  • The Beatles and The Rolling Stones are good, but I wouldn't call the Monkees trash.

  • Doesn't Micky just look lovely at 2:38?? So hot.

  • Their last year of the series they didn't have any writers or something; or maybe Mike decided to do that too. But when they came out they were our weekly supply of "Beatles" ... better than Viet Nam news.

  • Lovely

  • I luv the monkees and they were so cute it just about makes me cry 2 c pix of them as old men! in my mind they're 20 4ever

  • what a good taste at 1:18...

  • The Monkeemobile was the sh1t!!! I still want that car!!

  • What's 1:47 from?

  • Take a giant step is the song.

  • Thanks, but I meant the picture.

  • Oh. Gotcha. Sorry to bother.

  • Great sound quality

  • omg this was 1989 this whole time until i read the description i thought it was in the 60s. they sound really good

  • Hahaha, you can tell it's not the 60s because the audience is singing along instead of screaming their heads off, lol :)

  • WOW, great memories of the Monkees. I could spend all day listening to their LPs on my "record player". I am enjoying all of these uploads!

  • Anyone what make and model the Monkee mobile is???????

  • '66 Pontiac GTO. 2 identical Monkey Mobiles were built by Dean Jeffries. One is now owned by George Barris, even though he had nothing to do with building it.

  • Peter did really do Take A Giant Step well, Davy sang "When Love" almost like the original album version. Very cool!

  • For another "unplugged" song, search YouTube for "The Monkees - On The Johnny Cash Show".

This has Mike singing "Nine Times Blue" - very good video.

  • yes, another great song

  • Gorgeous harmonies, great songs and wow...Peter has such a pure, gentle sweet voice! He has always been the most underated Monkee

  • I really love Peter's voice during take a giant step. It really fits the song.

  • These acoustic cuts are great. And the Monkee Mobile kicked ass!

  • There's one arm too many in the picture at 2:41.

The hand by Micky's head belongs to Peter, the hand on the left belongs to Mike, the thumb in the lower middle belongs to Micky, but who's pinching Davy's cheek? That's another hand altogether.

  • That's you touching Davy's face ! LoL :-)

  • No, that's Mickey pinching Davy's cheek.

  • It can't be - it's a right hand and comming from the forescreen. Mickey's right shoulder is by Davy's head. Mickey couldn't possibly be reach Davy with that hand from that angle.

  • Looks like Mickey's hand to me. Maybe someone should track him down and ask him..LOL!

  • No, that can't be Micky's hand, not the right angle. It looks like a ladies hand and arm anyways.

  • Maybe it's Davy's mum's. LOL

  • so cool to hear Peter sing live!

  • I was a very big Monkees fan as a child and this first song is on my More of the Monkees album. They were fantastic and in fact still are.Lovely unplugged versions here-thanks for posting!

  • I'm a big Monkees fan, but I never heard the first song before...it sounded really great! This concert clip is so awesome and brings back warm-fuzzy childhood memories....

  • This was beautiful, I loved it. :) So beautiful makes me wanna cry. :) And they all sounded great! Still all have those soft lovely singing voices. :) A shame Mike wasn't there though, would have been nice if he decicded to join them, but still an outstanding performance! :) Thankyou very much for posting this, I gave it five stars! :)

  • This is great. Thanks for shareing this.

  • she knows your mind all right, your auntie grizelda.

  • was Mike's hat sometimes green and sometimes blue? lol it's cute either way, but is it a trick of the light or did he have that hat in a variety of colors?

  • Lol yeah he did have too different hats at the time. :)

  • Well done!

    Thanks for sharing ...

  • Wow, now THAT was excellent!! This is when Davy could still sing; and Peter's voice, just phenomenal. What a shame he only had a few good songs to sing (Shades of Grey) when they were still a group.

  • Wow-that was so cool!

  • "I wonder whatever happen to Mike's hat?"- Number- #1 Monkees question!!!

  • Heh, Mike needs the hat now to protect his scalp...ya know they always warned you as a kid that if you wear a hat too much, you'll go bald!

  • He once said that he through it into the audience at a concert they were doing at the time, and that it was returned to him about twenty or thirty some years later. By the same person who caught it I suppose lol. :p

  • I really like this unplugged stuff- do you know where I could find it on cd?

  • I like the monkees singing and a great song

  • Is Micky on this?

Thought he did the lead vox on Take a giant step

  • On the albums, yeah. I like Peter on vocals on this song, his voice got so much better with age.

  • i love this song!! great song!!!

  • i love this video! sigh the pitition at DAVY JONES DOT NET

  • Thanks for making me cry! God, life goes by so fast. The Monkees' music is timeless, no matter what decade. The are such positive role models for kids, then and now. They helped bridge the age gap between kids and their parents. I enjoyed listening to them as a child, and I still do to this day. I hope they are around for many more years. Rock on.

  • I want a copy of this cd. Peter sounds great. i will be seeing him soon.

  • Is this the 'Goud van Oud' show they did?? My goodness, I was there and I was 13 at that time. Is it avalable on cd??? Pretty please...?

  • Yes it's from "Goud van Oud"

  • Is there an official recording of this concert? How did you get it? It sure sounds great, and I appreciate you sharing it here! I'd love to be able to get it on CD too, if it's available.

  • Loved it!

  • They sound so fantastic together. It is a shame that we don't have the video portion, but at least the audio quality is good. These guys should never be underestimated. Hall of Fame bound!

  • Absolutely excellent.

  • Wow! That was great to hear those versions. I had heard Peter sing the song on his own album, but not with Davy and the others harmonizing. Sheds a whole new light on Take A Giant Step. themuse52

  • Pete sounds so great.

  • thank you!!!

  • Thanks for posting more from this show!

  • This sounds so great! They harmonize beautifully. I can listen to this over and over again. Where's the rest of the concert? lol

  • Here is an another piece of this wonderful concert. See video respons !!!

  • Wow, thanks so much for posting this!!!!! They truly do shine. I also love the other "unplugged" song they sing..."Riu, Chiu".

  • that was great!

  • This is incredible. Thanks for sharing!

    Monkees Rule!!!!

  • You're welcome

  • kooooooooooooooooooooooooooool i lovs this

  • That was cool.

  • Bloody great clip for the music, dispels the stories of the Monkees not cutting it live. Shame there isn't any proper footage.

    Thanks for posting it

  • LOVELY! They ALL shine...

  • I just love all of it without any preferences except for only a couple-the picture with Mike wearing his royal blue suit and white shirt with white ruffled cufflinks and the concert pictures of Mike, too from back then because he made that happen

  • I normally prefer Micky's singing voice to Davy's but Davy's voice on this is absolutely gorgeous. I feel like I'm 13 again :-)

  • y r u 90 now im not saying that in a bad way its just ur lucky u were born that time im only 16.

  • A-friggin'-mazing!

    Davy shines, here, doesn't he?

Wait, I didn't know The Monks were "unplugged" anywhere ...

Did they do any "unplugged" stuff in the US?

    Lovely ... THANKS!
