  • Beautiful in every sense of the word.

  • This is truly beautiful and inspiring. Thank you so much for sharing.

I hope that when I grow old, I'll still be able to play music like your mum. I hope that music will still be burried in my soul as it's obviously burried in your mum's.

    Congratulations! Beautiful video!

  • "to demonstrate that the human spirit is hard to defeat; and to show that music is part of our humanity"

  • Great video

  • Lovely video, thanks for sharing this with the world.

  • so beautiful...I just went to see my sister out of state

who has Alzheimers and has not recognized me in a year. I showed her old photos of her and I and low and behold she recognized me and said, "I love you." It was the best day I have had in years to hear those words from her again.

  • The video and your words are a lovely tribute to your dear mother. She is so talented, having never been a student of the piano. Thank you for sharing this.

  • This video reminded me of my Grandma... he music was all she could recognize as her Alzheimer's progressed... it made me cry... thank you so much. It was also good to hear the Aussie hasn't left her.

  • This is amazing. And so moving. Please post more if your mum is up to it

  • "to demonstrate that the human spirit is hard to defeat".... It cannot be defeated and neither can your mother. I thank you for the story about your mother. I thank your mother for the music that tells her story.

  • Wonderful! Thanks for that post. Your mum is very talented, and they say that music is one of the best things for Alzheimer's sufferers -- somehow, that part of the brain survives better than the rest of it, and playing or singing even helps strengthen other functions. You are clearly a blessing to your mother, as she has been for you. God bless you both.

  • God bless your Mum.....

  • How great thou Art....beautiful!!!

  • Thank you for posting this. I lost my dad 4 months ago due to Alzheimer's. It's a devastating disease. The last two days of his life, he remembered who me and my sis were. He waited for us to get to the hospital before he passed away ... he waited for us to tell him that we'd be fine and hold the family close together .... he needed to hear those words from us.

  • I really enjoyed your video. Thank you for sharing. Your Mom put a big smile on my face!!!!

  • Thank you for sharing- God bless you!

  • Thanks so much for sharing this, amazing lady and so musical. Best wishes to all your family.

  • I'm a 190 pounds guitarist and I am crying. Thank you for giving me such emotions. Wish to you all the best. This music plaed by such a woman gives me chills. I can hear angels. Thanks, alot! You made me understand what's music.

  • beautiful <3

  • waltzing Matilda...

  • Your mum is amazing and I'm so happy you shared this video. It's inspiring. My 97 year old grandmother sat at the piano after not having played in YEARS and whipped out a gospel tune like she'd been playing it forever. The brain is amazing... what it forgets, but OH what it remembers!

  • @MsTessG

The brain can and DOES forget, but sometimes the fingers/hands DO remember!!!

I know that first hand. Bless her. :)

  • @MsTessG Totally

  • I got a lump in my throat reading your story and listening to mum play.

  • Hey, your mother is a beautiful person. A kiss from Spain.

  • Wonderful - my mother has bad Alzheimer's too and has no idea who I am. You have a sense of the person inside her, which is a small blessing.

  • this was good into some faggot came in with words, ty for ruining bitch

  • This is so very touching. She plays amazingly, and no lessons - I don't know what to say but "Wow." I love "How Great thou Art"

  • who on earth disliked this?

  • It sounds wonderful!

  • wonderful!

  • "Waltzing Matilda" and "How Great Thou Art" Amazing tunes and very moving.

  • I am extremely moved by the love you have for your mother. You are a wonderful son and I wish both you and your mother peace and love in your hearts. God Bless.

  • Beautiful!!!

  • How wonderful! I wish you and your mom the best.

  • It's amazing how she plays a medley of several songs, without even seeming to realize it.

  • What a legacy for you! Part of her still experiencing real pleasure.,, Music really is the food of the soul! How wonderful that despite the loss of many parts of her - she still recalls melody and can express it. She is expressing herself and connecting with others despite the terrible disease. Magic.

  • Wow! Is your mum still alive playing music, or has she passed on now to play music with angels?

  • This is a prove that music lives not only in our mind but in our heart and soul. She maybe can't recognize many usual things, but music flows naturaly, beautiful and passional from her. Music lived inside her.

I'm a young pianist, and this amazing woman really inspired me, thanks for share...

  • Wonderful! God bless her heart.

  • Wow, for someone to play piano, with Alzheimer's, that is truly grand. Your words have touched me, and so has the music. Especially, how she incorporates, many pieces, and does a wonderful broken chord at the end. God bless and keep you.

  • that was beautiful...music is a powerful force that all recognize...it's universal and everyone can feel music...your mother is amazing.

  • The sadest disease in the world.

  • Fantastic. It's a story that is so common to many people, and so touching to all of us. Thanks for the video of a clearly very special woman.

  • This is so meaningful to me. My Mother died a year ago. She was from Australia and came to the USA in World War Ii after marrying my dad, an American sailor who was over there. I loved this song, and my granddaughter, born eight months after her death, is named Matilda! I sing it to her all the time. It's so important to preserve such memories... you've done a great thing by doing so.

  • thank you for your post..it made me cry.. its amazing to see that this is still here and you were able to capture it and let us all see...what you said made me cry(my husband is probably wondering what im watching)and as i was reading and listening to her play it made me cry harder. i just want to wish you and your family the best! thank you again..the power of music

  • I would like to ask if I could download the videos of her playing. I won't if you don't want me to but I have the means to do so if it is alright. I believe I could learn a lot by watching these.

  • God bless her and may she continue playing until the lord calls her home!!

  • Makes me wanna go practice for a while! AMAZING inspiration!!!

  • That was lovely. Thank you so much for sharing this tribute to your mum. She did a fine job both in raising her family, and in playing the beloved music. Thank you again.

  • God love and keep her she is amazing never let anyone tell you her dignity is gone - How Great Thou Art... We are here to help one another. I lost my mom last March and it is really lonely without her, but I am selfish I want her but I know she is better off without the pain.

  • I read the description as she was playing..... brought tears to my eyes. I wish her and your entire family the best! <3

  • I lost my mother with the same illness nearly 2 years ago... What a marvellous idea to record her as you did. It will remain a good memory for you for the rest of your life, because you will keep her in your mind as somebody who was able to do something really well until the last moment. Love from Belgium

  • God bless your mom and you for supporting her. My mom had dementia and faded away several years ago. still loved flowers, birds and cigarettes to the end.

  • Extraordinary talent there. Music therapy is especially beneficial for Alzheimer sufferers, and I highly recommend a book called "Musicophillia" by Oliver Sachs, a psychologist with several touching and interesting stories about that, as well as other mental disorders.

    All the best mate

  • My Grandma (RIP) Got Halzheimer Too... I used to play the piano for her... until she left us... Bring all the love that you can to your grandma! its wonderful how she can continue playing the piano...
