@dreamer6064 Drag cars usually don't use spoilers of that mass/height... You also don't know english very well either. And yes, that spoiler does help.
i love the evo but i always wonder' doesnt the engine being ahead of the front wheels and making it a nose heavy car effect the performance when when its being pushed to the limit on the track? wouldnt cars like the 370z be better racing platforms than an evo or sti for building a race car?
The reason why DSM were a POS is because the japs were making them for the americans. It was when people started rebuilding the motor it became stronger and the problems were solve. The 4b11 & 4g63 in the evos are badass. Because they concentrated on just the evo. The evo is mitsu's trade mark. As far as the gobbstopper it's one in a million. The number of fast subie's speak for themselves and there's not alot of them out there. And if they're fast there's alot of money invested unlike the EVO!
455WHP on stock internals here. I DD her as well. The 4B11T has truly been doing a great job proving itself to the 4G63 community. Seems like some people will always disagree simply due to change..
@haneyw I was going to mention that. I think the vertical struts are too far apart, or at least to close to the outside of the car. I think a double centre-post strut would look mad, or even placing the struts at 1/3 bootlid distance would be better visually. Maybe slightly higher endplates to offset the height a bit also.
Ok,take a look on the frame 3:13-3:15 the IX is cruising like on water, the X is not.The suspention is much harder becouse the car has not the same geometry....... said that they managed to have a beter suspention than the EVO IX ??? Reiger suspention and EVO IX are the best there is from Mitsubishi o tarmac so far....and that is 2010.
The engine is stout in whatever form it came in. The reason that you see many of the DSMs blown up is that they are a WAY cheaper car (and these days older) and therefore are bought by people that have less cash to spend on stuff like rods, aftermarket oil pumps, forged pistons (not cheap either), but want want to be quick.
So, on 10-20 year old components they are trying to make 400hp monsters with junkyard turbos and DIY electronics.
@Tekvicious Yeah you are very correct. Even with the evo guys i know they get a 60000 70000 mile evo dont change the water pump or oil pump throw a big turbo on it and then all of a sudden a timing belt or oil or water pump fails. You have to do stuff right the first time. Also the evo versions of the 4g63t can make more power stock because they have better internals. Im looking at going to 500whp on mine with just headbolts and rod bolts :)
Wow i have heard it all. the 4g63 is now a shit motor. If you blew the crank case open in a month then that sucks. The AMS Drag Evo runs 8.42 @ 170mph at 11,000rpm+ and run 1182Awhp and that means it probably runs at least 1300hp to the crank.
Hell yeah man 2 of my favorite racers! And Brent is getting quicker and quicker! And the Turbo is restricted and they added weight to the car and it still reset its own record 3 times in the same year.
I've never blown any other engine in my life. The 4g is shit in terms of quality even if it can make some power how many times do you see a evo blow up the engine I've seen it on TV on the drag strip on you tube and blown 4gs all the time they have some of the highest failer rates.
Anyways the friggen crank case blew open on mine that is shitty quality.
I can say Mitsu quality isn't great but comparing an Evo 4G63 to a DSM 4G63 is just not right. Sure, they blow up but that's what happens when you push ANY engine to it's limit. These blocks can take a hell of a beating. You hear of 4Gs having highest failure rates because it's still a DSM (back to Mitsu quality). Evo 4G63 is pretty solid and if built right, they can become a 9 sec daily driver. Just ask Buschur's customers that have those 9 sec cars.
@PiroFyre i don't want to fight, i don't own evo nor STI, althought i wish to buy one sooner or later, but just tell me what is the point of a 9 second evo, i mean evos and sti are ment to be fast and fun on the twisty roads, not to be fast in a straight line, you buy a RWD or some cheaper AWD alternative for that
@svedr It's more about showing off what a 4 cyl can do against American muscle. Not many muscle guys look at cars like an Evo as fast. Evos that are only pushing maybe 700WHP at best can run 9s compared to 850HP Mustangs that also can run 9s but require 150HP more to get there. I agree that a drag Evo is wrong cause I like to go auto-xing and a little rallying with mine. It's a lot more fun then a straight line.
@PiroFyre yep from that point of view i agree 100%, my friend has ams gt750 kit installed on his, and gets around 460WHP, and even that is exciting with not too much lag (it spools at around 4000) and even that is alot of fun if driven properly:D

The design is still the same but what Mitsu did with the Evo 4G63 is change the compression ratio and the head flows better then the DSM 4G63. They also change the design and put the tranny on the driver side. The Evo 4G acts just like like the DSM but the Evo motor is a lot stronger, better, and more reliable.

LMFAO 4gs are shit its not that I havn't tried them. the only advantage is that they are so much lighter because they are made cheap. quite bull shitting you've prob never tried either. I built a turbo 4g for a 4x4 mitsubishi pick up for my self and blew it up after less than a month and also an eclipse and it was a piece of shit too. I've been dealing with the sr20 and its shits over the 4b and 4g and the 4b is way better than the 4g
