For the umpteenth time mj DID NOT and I mean DID NOT push off. I've seen the play several times Russells momentum carried him and he slipped yes mj used his hand to brace himself but it was not enough to throw him off he just got shook...bottom line!!!
@ChiGuy251 It's called an "ankle breaker" it's a basketball move that when you pull it off, your opponent goes flying even if you don't touch him. So yeah as you said MJ didn't even need to push Russell off, since Russell was already *~*~*~*~*~FLyyiNnGgG*~*~*~
Its not possible to make a trained athlete fall from pushing him on his hip, especially when he was so much bigger. Russell was flying pass. Players always pushoff, touch the hip etc....that play was no biggie to the sports world. Just to fans who are peerly spectators.
Michael Jordan's hit a game winner TWICE against Russell (both that won championships) once in the 1997 finals game 1 & the other in 1998 game 6. so it is to my belief that Michael Jordan has TWO game winners over Bryron Russell (2-0 MJ)
Bryon Russell your a bum! And most of all your a DEAD BEAT DAD! If I was Michael Jordan I wouldn't touch you with a ten foot pole! He's Air Jordan your just some washed up has been looking to jump into someones elses light! Loser! Pay Your Child Support! Join our group on Facebook! "MAKE BRYON RUSSELL PAY HIS CHILD SUPPORT"!!!

mj shot a game winner of offent, and dont he got a last steal is a defent, so there no push yes mj hand is on it but there no push, is a touch to feel a defent move, 'watch 95 bulls vs. knicks the year mj come back, he did the same move to stark'
It looks to me as though Russell leans in hard on Jordan and when Jordan starts to go by him, Russell is racing to recover and runs past him when he crosses over. Jordan touched his hip when Russell flew by, but it wasn't nearly enough to make him fall. Russell's own momentum caused that. If anything, there was an initial foul on Russell. Russ should have backed up a step to encourage the jump shot and closed out on the shot. That would have been his best chance.
Bryon spend some of your money on public speaking! You sound like a moron and by the way, when will you be inducted into the hall of fame? Oh yeah, never!
nah...Jordan had his hand there but didn't "extend" his arm...watch it and really think about it, he doesn't have to pushem b/c Russell was chasing him, Jordan knew and just pulled back....yeah everyone knows Jordan has benefits but he didn't need him there b/c he had Russell beat on the drive, AI or anyone that crosses over would be called for that every other play if that was the case. Watch it and think about it, he doesn't pushem b/c he didn't have to.
Why would Michael Jordan agree to this? He's got NOTHING to gain. When it comes to his legacy, most of the world already believes he was the greatest ever...he has nobody left to convince, so beating Russell 1-on-1 won't make him look any better. But if he loses, his legacy will be (slightly) tainted. Nothing to gain, everything to lose.
As someone who photographed Mike at his Elmhurst basketball camps over a 12 year timeframe (1990-2001), I have witnessed him absolutely dominate up-and-coming college stars who were significantly younger than him. Bryon Russell will not stand a chance against a much smarter and gifted Michael Jordan - you can bank on that.
Yea he pushed off, but in the NBA all players use little "tricks" like pushing off, or moving screens, or a push in the back to free up a rebound. All players do those things at some time, it's the refs job to catch it and call the foul. The game wouldn't be as exciting if every little foul was called every time. With five seconds left to play in the finals the refs SHOULD let those plays go and allow the game to be decided by the players.
So Byron was like Dumars a great defender that Jordan couldn't go through and had to shove Byron?

I thought this was actually funny. Got to respect his competitiveness, he doesn't back down even when he's retired.

I think if any big player did what MJ did to Russel in that situation would not be a foul.
Because it is the NBA, audience wants excited game, they don't like official effect the game's result in the last few seconds of the game.
And MJ knew that, thats why he gave Russel a push.
There were so many factors that effected the result of the game, we can't say official always prefer MJ or Bulls.
And Russel, the biggest no call is Lakers vs. Kings game 5 Kobe elbow Bibby in last 30 secs.

why are u guys talkin about bryan russell because mj was the one to call him-out.
