I think the lack of budget is part of the show's charm. It forces A.B. and crew to be innovative with their demonstrations, and often, I find the simple and silly methods they use to be incredibly effective teaching methods. It's like hearing a jingle in a commercial- it sticks with you.
@SchizoSchematic Au contraire - I read somewhere that most of the money AB gets from Food Network goes back in making Good Eats; but I still think he's just being cheap in general :)
Best thing about his show, besides the wonderful recipes, are learning his techniques... I could never consistently make a good pound cake until Alton showed me the right way to make it.
@TheSnetty Sort of...he did a show on banana pudding. Which isn't a bad show, except that I'm actually ok with the crappy vanilla pudding + vanilla wafer concoction that you get at southern BBQ places
No those it's just a one litre portion cup. If you've ever worked in a professional kitchen those things are all over the place. I'm sure they have plenty of other uses besides storing food such as; an insert for a 3M PPS spray gun cup system.
1:34 clearly Alton doesn't edit his own episodes. "its'" doesn't exist in English grammar.

"left over pound cake"? That's like the girlscouts telling me that their cookies freeze well so they keep longer lol

Does anyone else see the paradox inherent in the phrase "leftover pound cake"?

Much as I love the show, but I don't think it can be anymore expensive to make than Iron Chef America, unless the latter gets serious funding.
