when non singers sing i listen. following sumner as he sang from the beginning in a lonely place, ceremony, procession, cries and whispers, temptation , age of consent, and on and on to bad lieutenant, i never questioned his singing talent . he has always been a fabulous singer .i like danny kirwan's voice , too.

Great version. I love it. Obviously the vocals sound weaker that Ian's...but still good. I mean...c'mon...Bernard has never pretended to be a great singer. He only took over the vocals after Ian because they couldn't be arsed getting some other big ego dickhead singer in.

this would be awesome with curtis' original vocals on it, they are genius musicians the singing is weak to say the least and pales in comparisson to curtis'

All in all this was a good cover of the song musically especially , i wont criticize the singing, because the vocals are good, but he just doesn't have the dark creepy croon Ian had that made , and gave Joy Division their unique feel that we are all accustomed to, but in the same sense we must remember this is a tribute, not a replacement.

I agree! To me, Bernard's voice is great, nay ideal, for so many of New Order's songs, but he really cannot carry it when singing Joy Division songs. Nevertheless, I don't hold that against him.

@escobesco This is right around when they got back together and decided to start doing Joy Division songs again. They do a version of "Atmosphere" that I don't particularly like, but I might end up posting it along with the rest of the session.
