Micah Mullen: Using Impasto Medium to Create Tree Bark

I appreciate the time taken to create a free tutorial of use to the art community but I have to say I wasn't really convinced. Without a wide shot of the piece with all tape removed, seeing what it looks like dry and not seeing the finished piece I can't really gauge whether it's an effect worthwhile to attempt.
