Do you want to take an opinion from whom doesn't know much about dancing? - I saw both Acosta's and Simkin's interpretations and they are both worth the price of admission. Simkin's was more stylish, Acosta's was more acted, more in-your-face. Maybe because I am Cuban I say that Acosta's was more crowd pleasing - he drank more mojitos than Simkin. Both are amazing dancers.
i love him as a dancer but i have to say, this sucked. he's tricks were great but the acting was over the top fake. he probably didnt even understand the lyrics...
@anatomychick AAARRRGGGHHH! Why must people keep hating??!?! I would bet my savings that none of you guys saying "this sucks" can do this solo an eighth of how well he does it. It's sad people use the tube as a compotition and a forum to slag everyon else off.
@ Ncodonte9666 mi amor el problema es que no se puede ma es que no puedes comparar a Carlos con Danil, son dos bailarines distintos totalmente, ademas Carlos tenia unos 36 y Danil solo 17,vamos
I wouldn't call either one better, just two different interpretations of one (amazing) song. Simkin played the young man, heading out to drink with his buddies (who thought themselves like Voltaire and Casanova, respectively). Acosta played the older bourgeois, staggering home after a long night drinking. Beautiful dancing on both parts.
Simkin performed this variation with all the charm of a (conceited) young man. Acosta performed this variation with all the charm of a, well, drunk. Not that that's a bad thing, that's how he chose to interpret it. It was fun, and the audience loved it. But Simkin's interpretation included many suave nuances-- especially in hand movement-- that Acosta, in his drunken swagger, did not include. (cont)
Now, I just thought I'd say that I hate this comparison of Simkin and Acosta in this variation. They are COMPLETELY different. First, you have to take into consideration where each was being performed. Acosta was performing in a theatre full of fans, where staggering around and the occasional flexed foot were appreciated. Simkin, on the other hand, was performing in a competition, where he was being judged on the technicality of his performance-- which, by the way, was superb. (cont)
OK guys, while I agree that there are many amazing points about Acosta's performance (as with Simkin's) you should know that it is NOT just about a drunk men. It's about a young man, drinking away with his friends, and mocking (and mooning) the the upper class. And eventually he he and his friends get older and they too become part of the upper class being mocked by the young drunk. (cont.)
Daniil's version is so different from this one. This interpretation is far superior to Daniil's but Daniil's is sort of more appealing from a visual, technical standpoint, interesting!!!
From the title I thought this was about a rich guy but when I watched I thought 'he looks completely hammered' and apparently he's supposed to so I say good work Acosta!

of course it is shown that u are a classical dancer. but i think it is too much of the drunk guy character and not the light headed "amigo". in short, waaay to much messy and too much trembling. u never hold ur body ur trembling a lot. like constantly moving. ONE THING THAT WAS GOOD WAS THAT U REALLY TOOK IT TO THE END. TO THE NEXT LEVEL. STAGE APPERANCE AND PERFORMANCE 1000000. I THINK IT WAS MOSTLY THE CHOREOGRAPH'S FAULT.
Like I sayd on my twitter, i watched Thiago Soares, Daniil... But Acosta, he fits better!! I don't know why, i'm not calling him of drunk, okay?! Daniil is young, thin, he doesn't match with this dancing... I love both, btw
Why those tears on my cheeks??? just because Mister Carlos Acosta is dancing??? Yes! just because of that: on that tiny screen Mister Acosta is dancing. Could you always be dancing with all that soul and let my tears come.
simkin's leaps are much more awesome. but acosta is great too at this character!

I never knew it was about a drunk guy! Simkin's version is awesome in technic, but he didn't get into the character.
And OMG, Acosta is perfect in this role!! Love it (:
renatadancer 2 years ago 15
@renatadancer I can't agree with that. Simkin looks drunk. Acosta looks like a ballet star pretending to be drunk.
