@fuzzybeard2016 Yeah, the singers weren't mic-ed which I shoulda done but they move around so much I would've had to use wireless, which is 'spensive. I'll see if I can dig up the libretto and post it somewhere for you to read along while listening, if you're that interested.
Oh wow, this is so interesting! Amok Time is definitely my favorite episode, and I'm so excited to see that someone used it like this! On to part two now...
Congratulations for the so original idea and performance, from a StarTrek lover and a Music lover. Particularely about the fight scene (part5/6) and the smart use of the TOS "Spock's Theme" musical lines. What a show !
This is one of the single wierdest and coolest thing I've ever seen online!! Please, please tell me where this was! Was it like a community theater, or just a random group of Star Trek fans. I love it, props to everyone involved, it is so creative and great. I want to be in the next one!! ;)
Thanks ChlarkNadia! Glad you like it. This performance was put on by myself and my friends with an cabaret opera company called Goat Hall Productions in San Francisco, CA. In a theater called Thick House on Potrero Hill.
We also performed it again recently at Boxcar Theatre.
Brilliant! I so enjoy how the choreography mirrors the actors' movements onscreen, and the artistic interleaving of stage, stills, and video. I enjoyed the first 5 parts (couldn't locate the 6th) and hope you had an enthusiastic audience during any live performances. This work has quite a dramatic impact.
This is absolutely AMAZING!!! Major props to the group who performed it! McCoy was hilarious...it's great hearing McCoy's famous line sung instead of spoken! Thanks for posting this! I love it!
Thanks - all of you - for the nice compliments. :-) The group performing is called "Goat Hall Productions" - which is basically a bunch of friends of mine that put on cabaret operas every year. I've had the idea for a long time, because I'm a composer of musical theater and I loved Star Trek TOS as a kid. That show, and particularly this episode just seemed "Operatic" to me... like Wagner in space. Star Trek became kind of the "mythology" of modern america.
Sorry everyone, but I have to agree with jvanderveen here, this is just plain terrific- definitely deserving of praise. Who's the group performing, by the way? The idea of putting Star Trek with opera... how did they think of it? That's awesome. The bit at the end with McCoy was hilarious, and I love how you can hear the other performers laughing throughout the whole thing. Marvelous job!
Pig headed Philistines! This is brilliant! Apparently nobody respects the immense effort put forth into an undertaking such as this, knowing full well that it will be appreciated only by a select few with the intellect to understand all of its subtle nuances. I applaud their work. Bravo!
Classic. Literally.

I *LOVED* it! I just wish that the sound was done a bit better; it's hard to understand some of the people onstage.

I'm planning something like this myself.

And now I'm hooked on these! I gotta see the

If you're going to produce this, at least get the mics close enough to the singers to make them audible.

You must admit tho' the thoughts of a singing Klingon are pretty scary :)! UniGTR+++%

I thought about that. Course we get to hear several examples of "Klingon Opera" in ST:TNG. Wonderfully frightful.
