Actually, I would say Edgeworth is the smartest one of Phoenix, Apollo and him. I mean, Phoenix always get help from Mia when she pops up in his mind and telling him to wake up. Apollo has got his bracelet, telling him when the witnesses get nervous. Edgeworth doesn't need anything special, only his brain and logic.

While he had Mia helping him (except towards the end), Edgeworth had rigged most of the trials in the original Ace Attorney (except in 1-4, which was with Von Karma, and 1-5, because they worked together). Even Mia wasn't able to see through his former web of lies in the end- Wright is the only attorney Edgeworth has ever lost to.

@jjilatt123 You may be right, but still, that was when Edgeworth was following the Von Karma path. Forging evidence, hiding testimonies etc. I agree with you, but maybe it's also because he faces Phoenix that makes him hesitate a bit. After all, Phoenix knows Edgeworth better than Mia.

It's almost the same except you are able to walk around the crime scenes to find the evidence; and instead of witness testimonies, you do rebuttles to prove a person of their crime or why someone is not guilty. Also a part where you must use logical thinking to connect two scenarios together to help you advance.
