Is this really bpeople with relaxed hair but with dreads if so it is really nice because i have a perm and its damaged, not healthy at ALL and i was planning to get dreads so if this is real;ly what im seeing please tell me this is true
Hair is dead, follicles are whats living. I'm not easily influenced by TV. Well i do understand you're argument and agree to an extent but I just don't think a relaxer is as toxic as the very foods we eat... When you find a person who is totally organic, free of soy, processed foods, dairy, chemicals, free of medicines that are way more hurtful and poisonous then relaxers i can feel the argument. In a nutshell, that a small piece of the bigger fish i think everyone needs to "fry"
Absolutely beautiful, thanks for sharing! THANK GOD I'M LOC'D & LUV'N IT.... 2 yrs in and it's the best decision I've ever made. My entire mind set is shifting .... I'm also Vegetarian too... 1 yr and growing strong..... and I'm grateful. Hotep
Locs are so pretty! I'm natural right now, but I don't think I would be able to transition to locs. I love to alternate styles with my hair everyday too much (braids, twists, combing). But much props to my beautiful "loc" sisters! Absolutely gorgeous :)
@AitebaarS When you say natural; do you have in mind combing and straightening your hair? Because if so, then that is not natural sis! When and in what point of time did we ever use combs? lol When and in what point in time did we ever desire for our hair to be straight? This vid is to crush the image of European beauty out of my sisters... But some of you are letting go but yet and still are holding on by a thread... Peace!
@KeepitRealisrael Actually, I have never straightened my hair since I BIG CHOPPED a year ago sweetheart. I don't dye it, color it, flat iron it, or put harsh chemicals in it. My avatar pic is from my relaxer days. #1) Obviously, I have to comb my hair-so I don't experience breakage or get knots & so I can style it. #2) Women in West Africa-did COMB THEIR HAIR and styled it in braids and twists. So, I really can't see where your comment is coming from.
@AitebaarS You do realize that when we comb our home we experience breakage? Then please send me the link of an African Comb! Where did you get that info from??? Sis I do not want to fus with but just trade facts... The fact is, is that Black Women wholesale is sold on the European look... And the proof is...the relaxed hair, fake eye lashes, penciled eyebrows, make up galore, blonde hair trend, weave, extensions, wigs, liberated attitudes, promiscuous ways, little dog coveting etc...
@KeepitRealisrael Ok, but how is me wearing my hair in braids, twists,& a fro anything close to looking EUROPEAN? Your argument doesn't make any sense when it comes to me. I am NATURAL. I stopped wearing makeup. I don't have blond hair, use weaves, fake eyelashes, etc. You're being extreme. Locs are BEAUTIFUL, but they are NOT the only way to embrace our heritage. Here's my link. Go to ezakwantu's website and search for hair combs. It will lead you to a gallery.
@AitebaarS You said "Ok, but how is me wearing my hair in braids, twists,& a fro anything close to looking EUROPEAN?" I never said that... I always said perms/straightening etc. is a European look... My argument always make sense... I debate for a living sis... Political/Religious/Sports/ etc... I aspire to F.Lee Bailey, Johnny Cochran, Reginald Lewis, Dr Khalid Muhammad, Pastor Tony Smith, Louis Farrakhan, Malcolm X, Stephen A. Smith, Skip Bayless... Watch yourself sis... I am a MAN!
@KeepitRealisrael Ok, but did I say anything about STRAIGHTENING my hair AT ALL during any point of this conversation? I DID NOT. I also did not say anything about perming my hair either. I said I comb my NATURAL HAIR with an african comb, NOT WITH A HOT COMB OR FLAT IRON. You claim your argument makes sense, but you're attacking a natural sister that does not fall into any of these catergories SIR. You were wrong, just admit it.
@KeepitRealisrael Just to add my commentary African combs have been specially designed for black people hair. The "breakage" you speak of, from combing, may not be that at all, but old and replaced shedded hair. With locs the shedded hair just mats in within the locs. Some black people have a difficult time maintaining dreadlocs than others (based on hair texture). Therefore natural hair, that's not locked, needs to be combed and maintained or else the end result is a hot mess. over time.
@Afrobabe I have no problem with that... I still would love to see a pic of an African comb... If it is true that African's comb their hair... I think that is a fair request... Don't you?
@KeepitRealisrael I hate to break it to you but Africans having been using combs for centuries so I dont know where your coming from and you will experience breakage if you comb your hair or not most hair sheds naturally and i highly doubt putting a comb through your hair will do much more damage
@kbediso Ok I would love to see an African comb still... Not saying that there are none or that African's do not come their hair... I would love to see the EVIDENCE :)... Any furthermore, my true African sisters always wrapped their hair anyway... Wrapping of hair was/is always a sign of modesty and humility...
I have been sisterloc'd for 17 months now; about 6 yrs ago I cut out my trad. locs. In between, I've had every hairstyle imaginable. I think most women are araid to embrace their natural hair because they don't understand it. It takes a lot of research as well as patience to work with our hair. Without knowledge, not many things are possible. We have to help each other, as well as start our girls, at young ages to take care of their crowns. Pass it on.
I'm LOC'N & SOOOOOOOOOOO LUV'N IT.... WHEEEEWWW, YASSSSSSSSSS GOD! I'm just so super dooper happy about my loc journey. It has truly been an amazing 2 years for me. Thank you so much for posting and inspiring!!! All the best....
I have locs and love the journey but would never tell some one what to do with their hair. Going natural is a realisation that one can only come to when ready and locs is another level. I'd be a hyprocrite to say i hated my perm and I can still admire a good bob' cut when i see one. Education on hair is important, I think the natural family on youtube are starting kick down some doors the media is wising up to the Afro' because we are wising up!! Finally...
@DollyMat You should never "tell" anyone to do anything sister DollyMat... But we should def... encourage or teach what is safe... Perms are destructive and will force you to go natural anyway... But the more you grasp information about hair, your heart will be different as far as trying to teach/encourage much people...
@carolinathicky336 that is good... I do not like seeing mothers with locs and their daughters with perms... I be like WTF? Why would you put your daughter through what you went through, so that she can later discover that her hair is thinning and now she has to loc it up anyway at the age of 30??? SMH!
@KeepitRealisrael well I am that mother....and daughters have completely different hair type than mine, very strong and her hair is thick full and beautiful, i started my lock journey few months ago, i will NOT cut her hair off because of my personal change and as far as she concerned she loves her hair. I really dont bash people choices it doesn't bother me what others decide to do, i hate seeing the natural, dread, vs relaxers....its just dead hair it will grow!
@missmo1984 Why would you perm your daughter hair? Who taught you that? You have learned that through t.v. (all media in general)... We have been systematically taught to hate ourselves... So as a result we are doing everything to oppose our natural state... Not only is the perm destroying your children hair but it is also toxic chemicals which seep into their very heads... But when you do not know better, than how can you do better... Just google /youtube dangerous perms!
@KeepitRealisrael now i understand dat but u cant force ur kid 2 do something dat u dont no whether they want to or not u should let them make dat choice 4 dem self let them realize wat they think is rite 4 dem cause i had a perm 4 the last 13 years of my life but the last 4 i had dreadlocks and my mom have dreadlocks and she didnt tell me to do it i decided 4 myself
@carolinathicky336 I think that is beautiful. My son is now four and he's had locks since birth. His hair has never been cut. I love them, and so does he. We need to start with our children, instill in them the love for themselves and their hair.
@jahliones12 little boys getting locs is natural and common... I do not see many parents locking up their daughters hair. That decision is a must because little "Black"girls learn to hate their hair at an early age and try to adopt the Caucasian style whether through perms/extensions,tracks or straight up wigs... So I commend you and your efforts. I would like to see more little girls with locs...
@KeepitRealisrael oh ok just checking b/c @ the end of the day, naturaal is natural. Another thing is i saw the black girl lost series & i couldn't help but think it would also be beneficial to put up a black man lost series as well. Most black men are on that stuff too. don't count them out. they're just as messed up. thanks
@bevagyei Black men is lost too, but we are directly being attacked... How many times you hear about black women getting profiled/discriminated/shot down/publicly crucified, compared to your male counter parts. BW are sold that education is the key, but on the contrary; BM are sold that Rap/Sports etc is key... Big difference...
I'd love to have my pic featured in a "tribute to women with locs" video or something, but i'm just to nervous! Well, not a full body shot, because these sisters in this video are amazing from head 2 toe, but you could use my pic from the neck up! lol
@jasmine4069 stop thinking like a child and "man up" cut your hair and get them... sooooo many black women got them and they look nice... I do not even date women if they do not have locs.... And many men think like me so trust me go get them
Well, my hair was long with a perm. However, my change came about when i realized that i shouldn't conform to society. I spent too much money trying to make others( whites and insecure blacks) feel comfortable. America is kinda of weird like that. All of my Asian friends like my natural hair. They say I look comfortable, confident, and exotic. Who knew?LOL
i love woman with locs if you use perm is like your hair is on crack it wants more until its breaks down dying on you why your still young its sad that black woman dont lock morge often
Thank you for this video and for showing beautiful black women with their natural hair. Love my locs. Already to my waist after only 8 years. Started them after a perm went bad. Got up one morning but my hair stayed on the pillow. I prayed to God that if/when my grew again, it would remain natural for the rest of my life. For the first time in my life I love my hair. I can style it any way I want, not like the white models in Vogue, Elle and the other white media. Happy to be nappy!
Now you can have your locks taken down with out cutting them. It'a long process, sometimes 2 to 3 weeks. It can either take 15mins to 1hr to take down one lock depending on length.
Free at last free at last I love my locs...........they make me feel wonderful and so much more. Wish I had done them years ago. I am 4 years in and counting........
Relaxers and weaves got sistas thinking their natural hair isnt beautiful because as soon as the relaxer grows out the hair becomes extremely dry. Once you start taking care of your hair and stop depending on the creamy crack you will realize just how beautiful your natural hair is. Some say blk women hair cant grow 6 inches in a yr. That's a lie. I'm 8 months natural started at 1/2 inch and my hair has grown 4 1/2 inches. 6 inches here I come.
I luv to see a black woman with locks, not just kuz i got em,but it looks good on em,and there not afraid of what ppl are goin to say, most of the bw of today would rather have european hair and tell a nigga to cut his hair b/c their ashamed of how their hair looks.
Recently, this wig wearing chick asked "Was this ALL my hair"? She was wishing it was fake so she could feel better about herself WEARING horse hair, false lashes and layers of makeup.
As she starred with jealousy, I said, "it's in your mind, not on your head". My response almost gave her a seizure. The look on her face was absolutely priceless!
WOMEN OF COLOR SHOULD "KEEP IT REAL", EMBRACE AND STOP THE PRETENSE.
I cut all my perm off Oct '09...the best thing I've done to my hair and I my hair loves me for it. Started my locs May '10...the 2nd best thing I've done to my hair. Although natural hair takes as much time and care as any other I feel free from worrying about what to do to my hair. Weaves and Perms are so over rated and very bad for our hair. I'll be so glad when sistas realize that and realize the true beauty of our natural hair. I'm loving my natural hair and I only use natural products.
@ezyccn30 Type "natural hairstyles" in the youtube search box and you will see that there are actually MORE different looks with natural hair than with straightened hair (that's not even counting the styles that can be done if one decides to flat-iron or roller set natural hair and wear it straight). Check it out!
I hated weaves. I hate those grotesque chemicals that straighten the hair... and they stink! I preferred to date women who weren't trying to be someone else regardless of race. If this locs thing keeps growing, I may find suitable wife potential! C'mon sistas!
@maclegend if this accepting women with natural hair thing keeps growing, i may find a suitable husband potential. not many who feel like u..nice to hear.
@maclegend surprisingly black women believe that there hair should be straight...they say "o man i got some bad hair" BAD HAIR!? WHAT IN THE WORLD MAKES UR HAIR BAD AND THE NEXT PERSON GOOD smh..our people is sleepin...to tell you the truth the nappier the hair the more strong it is...y do u thnk most people with hair thats more straaight is tender headed smh...ok im done blabberin lol
@maclegend ,thank you for your comments, I had to wait until I reached my late forties to loc'd my hair, and i wish i had done it sooner. My man loves my locs and i am so glad to find a brother who appreciates a good black woman with natural hair. i hope more younger women appreciates their beautiful hair.
when i see this video i am so overwhelm with emotions, this is a blessed video, and i am happy i decided to lock my hair. jah bless one love respect unity and love
I'm loc'n and luv'n it! So thankful to have the opportunity to experience this loc journey. 8 years natural.... 3 months loc'n. Go beautiful black women and men! Stay in peace and enjoy your unrefined natural beautiful.
On top of you being proud of yourself, I just want to say I commend you on your decisions to be yourself... Black is beautiful!!! Subscribe to my channel and learn about the perm and the sun as the natural medicine...
Nah man you got me all wrong. I would not be trying to be like anyone else the only reason that I would straighten my hair is not for the beauty that's already there so it would be to see how long my hair has fully grown over the years not to be cute. Natural is me fa life. Length check only. Why wonder how long it really is when I could do it for a few hours. I wouldn't want to go out like that though because my reverts back shortly after LOL :)
@alavedawson the proof is in the pudding... why are you so infatuated with knowing how long your hair grew? My hair grows naturally straight... I wish it would curl up lol but I will not throw gel in it to curl it up or anything... You would think i blew dried my hair if you ever seen my hair when its out... You lose more hair than gain when you attempt to straighten it... Some black people, typically the darker ones are just not designed to grow long and its OK! Locs grow your hair to the floor
Okay Okay I see what you're saying I may never straighten again not because I don't want to but it would only last for 30mins anyway and the last time I did it erased everything I worked so hard to protect and build destroying my hair. The reason I wanted to see how long it was was curiosity and I didn't think there was anything wrong with it, but I don't have to. I personally don't desire LOCKS though you can do several styles with them I'd rather work on my braiding and twisting :)
@KeepitRealisrael Whats wrong with wanting to know how long you hair is by straightening it? I did ocassionally with a hot comb when my hair was loose so i could trim it. Just because u already have 'naturally straight hair' as u specifically pointed out. Your comment about dark people not being designed to grow long hair sounded ignorant and rediculous. With locs u experience exactly the same growth as when loose except without combing or natural shedding. Nice vid though!!
@DollyMat- Not only id you put words in my mouth... But you also missed the whole point of this vid... Listen carefully... I am not trying to convince you to not "hot comb your hair" (fry your hair), nor am I trying to stop you from perming your hair... This vid is for those women who want to or even considered going natural... Perm your hair as much as you want and by the time you are of age you will have a wig on like most of these elderly women who use to perm their heads....
@KeepitRealisrael Putting words in your mouth? Your reply to @alavedawson 'Some black people, typically THE DARKER ONES are just not designed to grow long and its OK'. What point did i miss? Youre not telling people anything they dont already know, they will go natural/ to locs when/if they are good n ready not because they watched your vid. You sound a bit venomous towards non loc'd people with statements such as 'fry your hair' and if i have to wear a wig later in life so be it. Chapter...
beautiful video. i have got locks and from the great nation of israel. I know many israelites who believe locs are dirty and against the teachings of the bible, its nice to see i am not the only one who disagree's with that point of view. great work ach. shalam
I don't keep my hair locked because I like to do certain styles with a certain look and I always want to be able to straighten my hair even if I never do it. Natural lady til the end. I only do one style now and that's the two strand twists I keep it up for up to 3 weeks then I wash it and put it right back. LOL
I have been without the chemicals for 3 years now. For me, making the commitment to loc seems to be the hardest part, but I think Im ready. Thanks for the encouragement.
Yes that will be a step towards righteousness sister... That is part of reclaiming who you are, not just by saying "i am an israelite" cuz Christ said they worship me with their lips... B.u.t actually reclaiming your identity physically... Shalom Sis...

1)Find someone that knows what they are doing to begin the locing process if you don't know how to do it yourself.
2)Don't use WAX of any kind in your hair.
3)Twist new growth no more than once a month.
4) Wash/cond weekly to maintain healthy scalp/hair.

I'd love to have my pic featured in a "tribute to women with locs" video or something, but i'm just to nervous! Well, not a full body shot, because these sisters in this video are amazing from head 2 toe, but you could use my pic from the neck up! lol

I think locs are beautiful....I'm just too nervous to get them.
jasmine4069 11 months ago
@jasmine4069 stop thinking like a child and "man up" cut your hair and get them... sooooo many black women got them and they look nice... I do not even date women if they do not have locs.... And many men think like me so trust me go get them

I am natural but I don't have locs. They are pretty though.

I am 4 years in and counting........
laceylacey449 1 year ago 2
Relaxers and weaves got sistas thinking their natural hair isnt beautiful because as soon as the relaxer grows out the hair becomes extremely dry. Once you start taking care of your hair and stop depending on the creamy crack you will realize just how beautiful your natural hair is. Some say blk women hair cant grow 6 inches in a yr. That's a lie. I'm 8 months natural started at 1/2 inch and my hair has grown 4 1/2 inches. 6 inches here I come.
Don't be scared...Embrace your natural beauty.

I luv to see a black woman with locks, not just kuz i got em,but it looks good on em,and there not afraid of what ppl are goin to say, most of the bw of today would rather have european hair and tell a nigga to cut his hair b/c their ashamed of how their hair looks.
guttaboi88 10 months ago
@blkbutafly10
My journey began "1991" thanks to Noah.

I'm loving my natural hair and I only use natural products.
blkbutafly10 1 year ago
i love my perm, i prefer it because i can style my hair differently !!!
ezyccn30 1 year ago
@ezyccn30 Type "natural hairstyles" in the youtube search box and you will see that there are actually MORE different looks with natural hair than with straightened hair (that's not even counting the styles that can be done if one decides to flat-iron or roller set natural hair and wear it straight). Check it out!
TheSupasweet 1 year ago 3
@ezyccn30
better yet.. search "all she wanted was long hair'.. and that was the results of perms.

KeepitRealisrael 2 years ago
Nah man you got me all wrong. I would not be trying to be like anyone else the only reason that I would straighten my hair is not for the beauty that's already there so it would be to see how long my hair has fully grown over the years not to be cute. Natural is me fa life. Length check only. Why wonder how long it really is when I could do it for a few hours. I wouldn't want to go out like that though because my reverts back shortly after LOL :)
alavedawson 2 years ago
@alavedawson the proof is in the pudding... why are you so infatuated with knowing how long your hair grew? My hair grows naturally straight... I wish it would curl up lol but I will not throw gel in it to curl it up or anything... You would think i blew dried my hair if you ever seen my hair when its out... You lose more hair than gain when you attempt to straighten it... Some black people, typically the darker ones are just not designed to grow long and its OK! Locs grow your hair to the floor
KeepitRealisrael 2 years ago
Okay Okay I see what you're saying I may never straighten again not because I don't want to but it would only last for 30mins anyway and the last time I did it erased everything I worked so hard to protect and build destroying my hair. The reason I wanted to see how long it was was curiosity and I didn't think there was anything wrong with it, but I don't have to. I personally don't desire LOCKS though you can do several styles with them I'd rather work on my braiding and twisting :)

mazzaa1988 1 year ago
@KeepitRealisrael Whats wrong with wanting to know how long you hair is by straightening it? I did ocassionally with a hot comb when my hair was loose so i could trim it. Just because u already have 'naturally straight hair' as u specifically pointed out. Your comment about dark people not being designed to grow long hair sounded ignorant and rediculous. With locs u experience exactly the same growth as when loose except without combing or natural shedding. Nice vid though!!
DollyMat 1 year ago
@DollyMat- Not only id you put words in my mouth... But you also missed the whole point of this vid... Listen carefully... I am not trying to convince you to not "hot comb your hair" (fry your hair), nor am I trying to stop you from perming your hair... This vid is for those women who want to or even considered going natural... Perm your hair as much as you want and by the time you are of age you will have a wig on like most of these elderly women who use to perm their heads....
KeepitRealisrael 1 year ago
@KeepitRealisrael Putting words in your mouth? Your reply to @alavedawson 'Some black people, typically THE DARKER ONES are just not designed to grow long and its OK'. What point did i miss? Youre not telling people anything they dont already know, they will go natural/ to locs when/if they are good n ready not because they watched your vid. You sound a bit venomous towards non loc'd people with statements such as 'fry your hair' and if i have to wear a wig later in life so be it. Chapter...

beautiful video. i have got locks and from the great nation of israel. I know many israelites who believe locs are dirty and against the teachings of the bible, its nice to see i am not the only one who disagree's with that point of view. great work ach. shalam

Shalom! Anyone who denies locks are implementing a racial view implanted by the wicked rulers of darkness
KeepitRealisrael 2 years ago
I don't keep my hair locked because I like to do certain styles with a certain look and I always want to be able to straighten my hair even if I never do it. Natural lady til the end. I only do one style now and that's the two strand twists I keep it up for up to 3 weeks then I wash it and put it right back. LOL
