Britain was in no fit state to wage war against Germany in 1939 so our only way of having any impact was to bomb the Germans as for our equipment we had outdated everything more or less, so bombing was our only option until we got our act together then it was a different matter. We retaliated by bombing German cities because the Germans were at war with us and it was our only option at the time.It was war and civilians die in wars.

@DarkosApprentice Actualy the British gave up in the USA in 1776, due to the very difficult process of re arming a relatively small group of British Redcoats which were 3000 miles away from Britain. Also without the miltary help from France you were doomed to defeat, the fact that you gained your independece was because the French helped you, and the British troops were in need of fresh supplies. Your troops did not win in 1776, the British gave up as the US was not needed.

My Father died on the 5th June 2009 aged 86 and I think of him every minute of every day, I miss him so much. My Father always said that if a person hits you, then you don't just hit him back in the same way, you hit him 10 times harder, maybe then he will get the message. Britain was in no fit state to wage war against Germany in 1939 so our only way of having any impact was to bomb the Germans as for our equipment we had outdated everything more or less, so bombing was our only option until we got our act together then it was a different matter. We retaliated by bombing German cities because the Germans were at war with us and it was our only option at the time.It was war and civilians die in wars.
