It does seem very suss. On the boyfriends part I mean. Why would you leave smoldering embers on the back porch? Removing them from the fireplace so Santa doesn't get hurt is stupid enough but wouldn't you pour water over them or something? And I read an article saying the smoke alarms may have been turned off by the bf while he was doing renovations. This guy is completely to blame for this fire because of his sheer stupidity alone.
Her boyfriend did not want to play Daddy to these kids. And you do not discard embers inside without wetting them or take them out of the house, I believe it was intentionally set and all I can say is follow the money!
